Falling like the stars…

     𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐇 for hours, days even and they hadn’t reached this so called 'safe haven'... yet. Minho and Thomas were arguing nonstop about if there really was a safe haven or if they were just wasting everyone's time. Newt and Y/n stayed in the back of the group, partly because of Newt’s limp and partly because they didn’t want to get caught in the conflict between Minho and Thomas. Newt glanced down at Y/n and took a hold of her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze and a smile, all the fear and worry melted away after that.
      Newt and Y/n had been dating ever since she came up in the box 3 years prior. Newt was the one who rescued her and they instantly became friends. Y/n was the only girl in the maze until Thomas and Teresa came and then they escaped.
      Nightfall  had arrived and the gladers had set up camp for the night. Frypan made a fire while the rest of them used some of their clothes and other belongings to sleep on instead of the hard ground. Y/n sat up against a boulder watching in awe as Newt made a makeshift bed out of his clothes for them to sleep on. 
     Newt turned to Y/n, smiling, before coming to sit next to her, wrapping his arm around her while they watched the other gladers by the fire.
     Eventually, all the gladers went to sleep, except for Newt and Y/n. They laid on their backs with Y/n’s head resting on Newt’s chest, listening to his heartbeat as he played with her hair.
     "Did you know that there are over 1000 stars in the entire universe?" Newt asked Y/n, not removing his hand from her hair.
     "No, I didn't know that. How did you know?" Y/n  asked, lifting her head up so she could face Newt. Newt shrugged his shoulders and looked down at her.
     "Just a wild guess, love." He said before looking back up at the sky. Y/n inhaled sharply, taking in his scent and exhaling deeply. "We should get some rest, Newt, we have a long day ahead of us." Y/n yawned.
     "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" Newt asked, out of the blue. 
     "You do everyday. Come on, we need sleep." Y/n said and giggled slightly. " I mean it though Y/n, I really love you." Newt said, shifting slightly so that Y/n’s body was underneath his. 
     "Words can't explain how I feel about you, you're so beautiful and amazing and supportive. You changed my life when you came up in the box and you continue to change my life. My soul would be empty without you in it. I love you Y/n, god I bloody love you." Newt said. Y/n laid speechless and in awe.
    "I love you too, Newt. You are my home, no matter where we are." Y/n said and rested her palm on his cheek.
    "For better or for worse?" Newt asked, sticking his pinky out.
    "For better or for worse." Y/n said and interlocked her pinky with his.
