There was nothing special about Alina, and that was the thing she hated most. She was just like everyone else. Blonde hair, blue eyes, average height, nothing about her made her stand out. Except maybe her immunity to Johnny Lawrence's 'charm'. If you asked her what everyone found so attractive about him, she wouldn't be able to give you an answer. She'd simply shrug her shoulders, and shake her head. So maybe that's what distinguished her from everyone else, it had to have been something to catch Daniel Larusso's eye.
The girl did have a certain charm to her. She had a smile that could brighten up even the worst of days, put a smile on even the sourest of faces, and cure even the worst stage of depression. Her beauty was enough to catch Johnny Lawrence's eye, though she would prefer if he simply looked the other way. She didn't need his attention, and she certainly didn't want it. He was the last person she would ever want attention from. He had a violent nature, and the thing Alina hated the second most was violence.
While Alina had great beauty — no one could deny that — she just wanted to be special, different from everyone else, but when new kid Daniel Larusso moves into her apartment complex she realizes that maybe there was something special about her this whole time, and there's definitely something special about Daniel Larusso.
"Dad, have you seen my converse? I can't find them?" Alina asked.
"They're under the couch. Hey, I forgot to tell you. A new family is moving into apartment 20."
"Really? Is that what Mr. Miyagi said?" Aline spent many afternoons talking to Mr. Miyagi. She loved hearing all of his stories. He would tell her about his life in the war, about his father, he would tell her about his wife, and how much he loved her. He told Alina about her tragic death during birth, and she offered her condolences. She found that Mr. Miyagi was very good company to keep, and he had helped them out a lot.
"Yeah, said they should be here soon."
"That's great," she said as she stuck her hand under the couch, grabbing her run-down pair of white converse.
"You think they'll be real loud? I don't want noisy neighbors."
"I'm sure they'll be fine dad. I gotta go, me and Ali are having lunch at the diner before we go to the beach."
"Alright, well, be careful okay?"
"Okay dad," she answers, grabbing her house key. "I love you!" She yells, faintly hearing him yell it back as she shuts the door.
She runs down the stairs, only getting halfway before seeing a woman she didn't recognize standing at the bottom of them.
"Hi," the woman greets.
"Hi, you must be the new neighbor."
"Yes, that's me and my son. Apartment 20."
"I'm apartment 19. Here, let me help you with that." She offers, taking a box from the woman's hands.
"Well aren't you a sweetheart?" She jokes as Alina let's out a suppressed giggle. "You look like you might be my son's age."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"How old is your son?" Alina asks as she sets the box down on the floor of the woman's apartment.
"15, 16 in a few months."
"I just turned 16 a few weeks ago." Alina explains. Before the woman had a chance to say anything else a teenage boy walked into the apartment, looking at Alina with wide eyes.
"Please don't say anything about the pool, I will call first thing in the morning."
"Good luck with that," Alina mumbles, earning a soft chuckle from the boy.
"Who's this?"
"Oh, that's— you know, I never did ask you your name."
"Alina, my name's Alina."
"Oh, that's such a pretty name."
"Thanks, my mom picked it." She awkwardly shared.
"Hey mom, did you tell that old lady with the dog downstairs where we're from?"
"Yeah, didn't she remind you of aunt Tessy?"
"Hey, I hate to leave so soon but I really have to go. I'm meeting my friend at the diner."
"Okay, thank you for your help sweetheart."
"No problem," she mumbles as she walks out the door, her last thought being of the cute new kid.

"I'm telling you Ali, Johnny is not just gonna let this break up go." Alina informed her best friend.
"Oh sure he will. You know, Johnny can be responsible and respectful when he wants to be."
"That's a funny joke, you should be a stand-up comedian. Make big bucks." She jokes as she dips her fry in the ranch.
"I still don't know how you do that," Ali comments.
"Do what? Have a sense of humor?"
"No wise guy, dip your fries in ranch. Ketchup belongs on fries, not ranch."
"Hey, you have your opinions and I have mine. You think I didn't judge you the whole time you were dating Johnny? Believe me I was, but I kept my mouth shut out of respect."
"Is keeping your mouth constantly asking me what I could possibly see in that guy? Because if so, you did a great job of that."
"Oh, come on. We better get going to the beach."
"Yeah, you're right." The two girls paid for their food, Ali trying to pay for Alina's, and Alina insisting she paid for herself. It was a regular occurrence for the girls. Ali knew Alina and her father didn't have a lot of money, but no matter what Alina always paid for herself. She was too stubborn to let someone else pay for her.
They met up with the rest of their friends at the beach, sitting together, while some boys played soccer.
Music played softly through Ali's radio, as Alina stared off at the ocean, and the group boys ran up beside them, kicking the ball back and forth between each other, causing sand to fly everywhere. Ali noticed a boy — who she didn't recognize — starring over at Alina as she continued to stare at the ocean, not sparing a glance towards the boys. Ali tapped her shoulder, nodding her to the staring boy, and when Alina caught his eye she instantly recognized him. She sent a small smirk his way as he continued to stare at her, not backing down once. The rest of the boys ran off with the ball, but he stayed where he was, holding eye contact with the girl. The girl turned to Ali, leaning down to whisper in her ear.
"Am I the only one who thinks he's starting to stare a little too much? I feel like he's undressing me with his eyes and I'm not a big fan of it, but then again he's really cute, and he seems nice."
"I don't think it's too creepy. He's probably just enhanced by 'oh so elegant beauty'," Ali teases and Alina let's out an airy laugh.
The rest of the boys ran back over to the new kid, the ball getting away from them and flying towards Alina, who didn't even have to look at it, she caught the ball, while holding eye contact with him. He motioned for her to toss him the ball, and after she did he began to do tricks with it, bouncing it back off and forth on his knees in an attempt to show off, but it took more than that to really rope Alina in.
"Show off," his friend mumbled before the boy bounced the ball to him, and they were off once again.
The sun faded out of view before anyone knew it, and the moon took its place, shining over the dark sky, offering a faint glow to those on the beach.
"Go talk to her dude," Freddie mumbled to Daniel.
"Dude, don't tell him to do that. She doesn't let anyone in." One of the other guys mumbled.
"So? He can still try."
"Johnny couldn't even pull her."
"That's because she's always hated Johnny, she doesn't have anything against our boy Daniel, not yet at least," Freddie reminded as Daniel nervously stared at Alina, admiring how beautiful she looked under the moon's glow. "Unless he's too scared."
"What? I'm not scared."
"Then go make a move."
"Nah man, I'm eating."
"Alina Williams is actually looking at you, and you're worried about eating?" Freddie asks in disbelief as Daniel glances up to see that Alina was in fact looking over at him.
"Maybe they ain't got no moves where he comes from." One of the other boys suggests.
"No, I got moves where I come from, yeah yeah. We got more moves there than here."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, I'd say so."
"Then go talk to her. If she rejects you, you won't be any different than all the other guys who have tried. Alina's not an easy girl to get."
"Oh yeah? I bet she won't reject me."
"Oh really? What makes you so different?"
"It's the Jersey moves man," Daniel answers before walking over to the girl. Alina stands up when she notices him walking over.
"Hey, want me to teach that trick I did with the soccer ball earlier?" He offers and the girl chuckles.
"Actually, I can already do it. Watch and learn, newbie." She remarks as she grabs the soccer ball, bouncing it from both knees, the side of her ankles, and her elbows, creating a complicated pattern. She stops after continuing for a few more seconds, handing him back the ball as he stares at her in awe.
"You've got moves." He compliments.
"Of course I do Larusso." She states as he raises an eyebrow at her, wondering how she knew his last name. "I have my ways." She answered shortly. The truth was that she had asked Mr. Miyagi what their names were before she left for the diner.
"Okay well maybe-" But before he could finish his sentence, the sound of multiple bikes could be heard. Alina turned her head, spotting one of the people she hated the most.
"God damn Johnny Lawrence."
Hi lovelies, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, I feel like it was a pretty good length, and a pretty good part to stop. Anyways, how're are we liking Alina? I know the way the first conversation thing they had is a lot like Ali's and Daniel's, but I want y'all to know it isn't going to be exactly like their's. There will be a lot of differences, and Alina's reason for not giving anyone chance will play a big part.
