destiny sits on a barstool in the sturniolos kitchen, her eyes focused on her laptop screen currently playing an episode of jersey shore. luckily, since they're all a little slow, they didn't think to drop off destiny and adoras suitcases, so she was quick to be able to grab her laptop.

why she can't just watch it on tv like a normal person? because in the mean time that nate and matt are gone, ruben, adora, and nick have taken it upon themselves to play mario kart in the living room.

that just leaves her and chris stuck in here—in the kitchen. he's stood across from her on the other side of the island counter, leant against it and scrolling through his phone as per usual.

her head is leant on the palm of her hand and a few strands of her hair have fallen over her face. she doesn't mind it, too zoned into her show.

she's enjoying the loud shouting coming from the reality show that she's only ever found amusing when the feeling of eyes on her begins to creep upon her. curiously, she peels her eyes from her laptop and glances around, quickly landing on chris. he's already looking at her and his unguarded expression makes her stomach a little queasy. "what?"

it's almost like her words snap him out of his daze, his eyes instantly snapping off of her. he looks down to his phone instead but the way the corner of his lips turn to make a downwards smile is as clear as day. he shakes his head. "nothing."

her face suddenly feels a little hot, unsure of what to think as she just looks away, allowing herself to feel amused. "okay, dork," she murmurs, looking back to her screen.

chris though, gets bored of his phone and slides it into his pocket. he walks around to her side of the counter and leans onto the empty barstool next to her as he curiously peers over at her. "jersey shore," he sighs once he sees what's playing on her laptop, knowing damn well that that's all she ever watches. destinys lips quirk up in amusement and she looks up to him as he asks, "what season is it this time?"

"two," she answers easily. she has no shame about her taste in television shows actually.

"wait..." chris starts to speak and trails off the longer he watches the show playing. he leans closer and instantly chuckles once he realizes her choice of episode. "are you seriously watching the snooki and angelina fight again?"

"yes, chris," she answers obviously, giving him a look. "it's one of the best episodes."

"sure," he responds flatly, shaking his head slightly as he takes the empty seat next to her. he sets his phone on the counter once he's sat down and looks back over to her. "i don't know how you just.. watch that 24/7."

"chris, you literally watch it with me half of the time," she responds blankly, knowing they both know the truth that he secretly loves the drama filled show. "you love pauly d and vinny."

chris just shakes his head in denial at her words at first. after a few seconds, he then allows a smirk to form on his face as a response comes to mind. "well, what can i say? they're just like me, for real," he says smugly, her instant eye roll not affecting him.

"you're so egotistical," she tells him with a chuckle, glancing back to her screen.

"nothing wrong with that," he shrugs and destiny just ignores it seeing as he picks his phone up and begins scrolling through it.

she begins watching her show again and goes uninterrupted for about five minutes before chris sets his phone down and sighs loudly. she curiously looks over to him and he sighs again. "des, i need your advice."

"okay." it's now her turn to sigh as she taps the space bar on her keyboard to pause the episode. she then turns to him and blinks repeatedly.

chris nods, taking her blinks as a sign to get on with it. "okay so..." he pauses for a second, turning towards her completely and unlocking his phone in advance because it seems like he'll need to show her something on it later. "i was talking to this girl and she wa..."

chris' words blur together for her as he continues to go on speaking, her completely forgetting about whatever he's saying and instead getting lost in the beauty of his face. see, it's just that under the good kitchen lighting, she can see his features with so much more detail—so much more closer to his face.

she can really get a chance to see how oceany blue his eyes are from them being sat across from one another. she can also catch the way that the summers heat has helped emphasize the few freckles he has spread over his nose. there's only a few, but they stand out and make him even the more admirable. the fact that there's hardly any almost makes her feel as if she could count them. in fact, she will. one, two, three, four, five, six, sev—

"des!" chris' voice snaps her out of her slight trance, her eyes widening as she realizes he's giving her a weird look because of her silence.

"sorry, uh, what did you say?" she asks awkwardly, rubbing at the back of her neck slightly to fight the burning on her cheeks.

"i asked if you think i could pull her or not," he repeats and her lips twist downwards. he nudges his hand out to her and she looks over, her frown deepening once she sees that he's showing a snapchat from the girl luckily enough to have caught his interest.

destiny has never been lucky enough to actually catch his interest before. she's only ever had him through flirting because of his extremely flirty personality. she's never really had him—not like the girls he spends a week at a time with. her heart sinks a little at the feeling she's getting. she feels envious of the girls he leaves with broken hearts; that's got to be a little pathetic.

that's all she ever feels from her crush on him. pathetic. she knows no moment shared between them is ever actually meaningful, it's just how he talks to every girl. it's just how he gets his amusement.

she sits there, forcing a smile on her face as she realizes how much she really hates feeling like this. "yeah, definitely," she reassures him, him instantly giving her a small smile in return.

she's glad that she can help him feel some relief while she's over here torn. she's got to move on, she decides. she can't keep going on like this, it's honestly just getting a little... sad, especially after the bahamas.

she looks away from chris as he goes back to his phone and instead watches ruben, nick, and adora all enjoying themselves in the living room. it's like she's doing this to herself just by choosing to sit with chris. she's really got to learn some self control.

she sighs and looks back over to chris who has already zoned out and assumedly gotten a confidence boost after ranting to destiny seeing how he's now actively texting the girl. destiny reaches forward and closes her laptop, not bothering with excusing herself as she stands up from her seat since chris' attention is elsewhere.

as she walks from the kitchen to the living room, she feels as if she's finally leaving the sidelines. with this upcoming school year, she's decided she's going to forget all about chris—no matter what.
