ONCE CARSON GOT to Wanda's room, he found himself just standing there, staring at the door instead of actually knocking. He could hear the TV playing, the familiar sound of the sitcoms Wanda would always be watching filling his ears, along with the occasional quiet giggle from the girl reacting to something on the screen or comment from Vision who was trying to understand what was actually happening.

"Is it funny because of the grievous injury the man just suffered?" Vision asked.

"No, he's not really injured." Wanda replied.

Carson sighed after hearing Wanda speak up. She sounded different, her voice was croaky, her tone was flat, no hint of happiness in her words.

And it was his fault.

"How can you be certain?" The android questioned, genuinely confused by what had just happened on the screen.

"It's just not that kind of show."

Carson raised a hand to knock on the door but was interrupted by a loud crash that came from the TV, followed by on screen laughter, and surprisingly Vision laughing along too.

"Sorry, pardon." The android apologised.

Wanda laughed softly, making Carson smile. "No, it was funny."

"Yes, I suppose it was rather funny wasn't it?" Vision chuckled.

Wanda stayed silent for a moment, the similarity of the conversation making her think back to the time when her and Carson watched this same show together. When he was comforting her after the death of Pietro.

Little did she know, he was on the other side of the door thinking the exact same thing.

"Mhm." Wanda hummed in response.

Carson rolled his eyes as he listened to the pair continue their conversation. After mentally battling with himself on whether he should disturb them or not he eventually gave in and knocked on the door.

"Come in." Wanda spoke up quietly.

Carson opened the door and stepped inside, making sure not to make any sudden movements so he didn't scare her in case she was still skittish around him.

Which seemingly she was.

His chest tightened when he saw Wanda look up at him with empty eyes, subconsciously moving her hands to her sides and onto the bed as if she was readying herself to get up quickly if anything happened. Vision sat up straighter, shuffling slightly in front of Wanda like he was shielding her from him.

Carson cleared his throat. "Hi."

"Hi." Wanda responded, her body language softening ever so slightly. But not much. She was unsure on how to feel. Not knowing if this was another trick or not.

Carson looked over at Vision, raising a brow at the android who still hadn't taken his eyes off him. "Easy Vision, I'm not going to do anything." He looked back at Wanda. "You can trust me. I promise."

"It worked?" Wanda asked, her voice still quiet.

"Well, I don't have the constant urge to kill you all, so I think it's safe to say that it worked." Carson shrugged, trying to lighten to mood.

He noticed a faint smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth but she just ran a hand through her hair and nodded.

"It's not just.. another trick?" She looked up at him, he could hear the hurt in her voice.

"No more tricks." Carson shook his head. "That's over now." He offered her a small smile, to which she reciprocated.

Vision looked between the two, who were now just looking at each other. Although he was relatively new to this world and didn't know much just yet, he could piece together the clear unspoken feelings between the two, seeing the way they looked at each other despite everything that had happened.

"Vision could you uh.." Wanda looked up at him and spoke awkwardly.

It took a few moments but he eventually understood after seeing Wanda subtly nod towards the door.

"Right, of course." Vision said. "Only if you're sure."

Wanda glanced over at Carson then looked back at Vision giving him a nod. "I'm sure."

Vision got up from his spot at the end of the bed and walked over to the door, coming to a stop when he reached Carson.

"It's great to have you back, and to see that you're doing better." The android smiled at him genuinely before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

Wanda patted the spot next to her on the bed for Carson to take a seat. He took a deep breath and walked over, sitting down next to the girl but still made sure to keep a little distance between them, still not fully trusting himself.

"Sorry about just showing up unannounced." He began, looking up at the TV which was now paused. "Hope I wasn't... interrupting anything?"

Wanda furrowed his brows not knowing what he meant at first, but once it clicked she quickly spoke up. "With Vis? No, no, that's just— that was just a friend helping a friend."

"Mhm." Carson nodded slowly.

"No, really." Wanda chuckled. "These past few months have been... difficult. And he was always there, you know? He'd always check up on me and make sure I was doing alright but it's nothing more than that."

"Wow, are you sure he's just a friend Maximoff?" He joked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down. "If you want we can bring him back in here, hey Vision!—"

Wanda put her hand over Carson's mouth, making them both fall into a fit of laughs as his words became muffled. Once he'd stopped trying to speak she removed her hand and playfully rolled her eyes, shoving his face away which only made them both laugh more.

"And to think I was going to say I missed having you around." Wanda smirked.

Carson chuckled and shook his head. "Too late, it's out in the open now and you can't retract it."

Wanda stifled a laugh and ran a hand through her hair, accidentally exposing a few faint bruises that were still on her jaw and neck.

"Yeah, well I—" She turned to face him but paused when she saw his eyes scanning over her face, his smile slowly fading. "Carson, what is it?"

"Shit." He looked away and gripped the bridge of his nose, inhaling sharply as he tried to ignore the memories that were beginning to fill his brain.

"Carson... p—please."

Wanda quickly moved her hair back over her shoulder. "No, no, it's okay."

"You are nothing."

She placed her hand on his shoulder, making him flinch and look back at her.

"No! it's not okay Wanda, it's not. I hurt you!" He shook his head. "And the things I said... god I can't believe I... I'm so sorry."

She took a deep breath and slowly shuffled closer to him. "Hey, look at me."

Carson kept his gaze aimed down at the floor as he hung his head. "You have to believe me Wanda, I didn't want to do it. I didn't. I would never hurt you intentionally. You need to know-"

Wanda reached forward and gently cupped his face with her hands, moving his head towards her. "Look at me." She gently brushed her thumb over his cheek and smiled when he eventually met her eyes.

"I forgive you. It's alright." She whispered. "The things that have happened these past few months, it wasn't you Carson. None of it was. You didn't know what you was doing. But you're back now, okay? You're back and you're you."

He leant forward and rested his forehead against hers, letting out a shaky breath. "But what if it didn't work? I just... it's in the back of my mind all the time. This isn't like the previous Winter Soldier program, it's... different."

"What do you mean?" Wanda asked, searching his eyes.

"It's hard to explain... it's like the whole time you're fully conscious, but you don't know which part is actually you or the soldier." He sighed. "I still don't."

Wanda pulled away and looked up at him, she began raising her hand up to his head slowly as she didn't want to alarm him or break his trust considering the last time she did this without this permission, it didn't exactly go well.

"May I?" She asked softly.

He was clearly hesitant at first, but he nodded eventually and took hold of Wanda's hand, bringing it up to his head. Wanda closed her eyes and let out a calm breath, feeling the energy form around her fingers. Carson closed his eyes too and allowed Wanda to enter his mind. He could feel her presence in his head, her energy surging through him.

But it was different this time.

It was almost comforting for him, he felt at ease, at peace. He didn't need to resist or put up any blockages. Because he completely trusted her.

"What do you feel?" He opened his eyes, feeling them beginning to glow.

The red wisps around Wanda's fingers slowly faded away and she removed her hand, opening her eyes to look up at him, both of their eyes now scarlet red. He raised a hand up to her cheek and she leant forward and rested her forehead against his once more, smiling as he brushed his thumb back and forth gently.

"I just feel you." She whispered.

Carson let out a breath of relief and the pair both pulled away slightly from their position, him still keeping his hand on her cheek as they both looked at each other, smiling softly. Warmth surged through his chest as he looked at the girl in front of him, his eyes dropping down to her lips, which he didn't actually realise he did at first. It was only the sound of Wanda's heartbeat picking up and her breath hitching that made him notice what he did.

He moved his eyes back up to hers and searched for any signs of discomfort, the last thing he wanted to do was hurt or upset her again. Wanda exhaled shakily as she met his eyes, heat rising from her stomach to her chest. She too glanced down at his lips and moved forward slightly which he noticed, the action giving him the confirmation he needed that this was okay.

Fuck it.

He slid his hand down to the back of her neck and gently pulled her closer, both of them leaning in. Their hearts pounding as lips brushed together for the first time. Wanda moved her hand up to his cheek as he slid his down to her waist, both of them pulling the other closer, as if they just couldn't get enough of each other.

They had both finally given in and taken the leap and it was... well, paying off pretty well.

Carson tightened his grip around her waist and moved her over into his lap, to which she happily obliged to as she wrapped her arms around his neck, letting out a soft giggle against Carson's lips which made him chuckle. It was as if time had stopped right there as the kiss progressed, like nobody else existed and it was just those two, in their own little world.

It was like a beginning.

Their beginning.

The door suddenly opened making the pair quickly pull apart.

"Sorry bud, I'm gonna need you to—" Tony looked up from the tablet in his hand and at the two teens on the bed, raising a brow at the position they were sat in and the expression on their faces. "Whatcha dooooing?" He questioned with a smirk, deciding to tease them.

Carson sighed and rolled his eyes, knowing that Tony wasn't going to stop pestering him about this for a while. Wanda cleared her throat and looked around at random points in the room, not meeting Tony's eyes as she could feel her cheeks growing hotter from being caught.

"Oh hi Tony, need anything?" Carson asked nonchalantly, making Wanda stifle a laugh.

"Well, before I caught you with your tongues down each other's throats." Tony taunted and Carson shot him a glare. "I was coming here to tell you I just need to check over your bloods one last time. So I'm going to go to the lab and remove myself from this situation, probably go bleach my eyes on my way, and once you two have... finished up, I'll see you in there, capeesh?"

"Yup, got it." Carson gave him a thumbs up and watched as Tony left, chuckling when Tony gave him a quick wink before he shut the door.

After making sure he was completely gone, Wanda rested her head against Carson's and the pair both fell into another fit of laughter.

"We're not going to hear the end of this, y'know?" Carson moved some hair from Wanda's face and chuckled.

"Mm can't wait." Wanda giggled and slung her hands back around Carson's neck, playing with the baby hairs at the back of his neck.

Carson quickly glanced at the clock then looked back at Wanda. "As much as I'd rather stay here, I should probably go and get this over with."

"You want me to come with you?" Wanda asked.

"It's alright, I won't be long." Carson shrugged. "Besides, if you stay here you'll be safe from all the comments Tony is going to make."

"Yeah, that's a good point." Wanda laughed softly and nodded. "Are you coming back?"

Wanda shuffled from off his lap and sat down at the end of the bed, watching as Carson stood up.

"Of course I will, Wands." He walked over to her and kissed the top of her head.

"You missed." Wanda grinned.

Carson chuckled and put his finger under her chin, tilting her head up slightly before leaning down to place a kiss on her lips.

"Better?" He raised a brow.

"Mhm." Wanda hummed, her smile growing even more.

Carson began making his way over to the door, stopping to turn back when he heard Wanda call to him.

"Carson?" She spoke up.

"Yeah?"

"I'm really glad your back." Wanda began playing with the sleeve of her jumper. "I missed you."

"I missed you too, Maximoff."
