IT WAS the next morning, and the newly engaged couple were abruptly woken up from their sleep due to the loud knocking at the door. Carson's face scrunched up in distaste and he slowly lifted up his head while forcing his eyes to stay open in the process. He never really was much of a morning person. As he tried to sit up, he became aware of the fact that Wanda was still out cold laying on his chest, their legs intertwined under the sheets.
"If no one opens this damn door in the next two seconds, then I'm coming in and waking you both up myself." Natasha's voice was heard from outside.
Carson took a moment to look down at Wanda, not realising the smile that grew on his face as he ran his fingers through her hair subconsciously.
"Right, two seconds is up." Natasha spoke up once more.
His head instantly snapped towards the door. "Shit, shit, Nat wait!"
Carson threw his arm out to the side quickly and made his powers surround the handle of the door so Natasha couldn't get in, along with pulling the sheets further over him and Wanda just in case.
"Just give me a minute." He told the blonde and carefully slipped from Wanda's grip. Once he was free, he gently set Wanda back down and pulled the covers back over her, letting out a soft chuckle as she snuggled against the pillow thinking it was him.
Carson picked up his clothes from the floor and threw them on before making his way over to the door, opening it and stepping outside.
"Finally." Natasha huffed. "It's 10am, you should've been up over an hour ago."
Carson scratched the back of his head. "Sorry, we were... tired."
"Oh I bet you were. I had the pleasure of being in the room next to yours." Sam quipped has he walked past. "The walls aren't soundproof, you know!" He shouted over his shoulder as he turned around the corner.
Natasha's face scrunched as she looked back at Carson. "I really didn't need that information this early in the morning. Or ever for that matter."
Carson laughed quietly. "Sorry about that."
"Well on the plus side, I'm guessing that means you two made up?" She asked.
"Oh they made up alright." Sam's head popped out from around the corner, the man wiggled his eyebrows at them both.
Natasha groaned. "Oh my god. Sam I swearโ"
Sam and Carson both laughed and the older man quickly darted from his spot and disappeared once again once he saw the death stare Natasha was giving him. "Alright, alright, I'm going!"
Carson looked back at Natasha and nodded. "But to answer your question, yes we made up. We're good now, really good actually."
He smiled to himself as he thought back to last night. Natasha tilted her head curiously as she noticed him deep in thought, taking note of the huge smile plastered onto his face. She decided to brush it off as she figured he was glad that he and Wanda had talked it out. But she was yet to know what happened the night before.
Now, of course they wanted to tell the others about what happened, that they were now engaged. But it wasn't exactly the right time.
Y'know, Considering there was a purple titan running around wanting to wreak havoc upon the universe. No biggie.
So for now, the couple mutually decided that they would keep it quiet. There would be plenty of time to celebrate it later. With everyone back home and safe.
Natasha smiled at his answer. "Good. I'm glad you two worked things out. I didn't want to have to come in and force you to make up myself. Because you know I would've. You two can both be very stubborn sometimes."
"I know, I know." He smirked. "But don't worry, we had it covered."
Once Natasha realised what he meant, she let out another groan in disgust and pinched his shoulder. "God I hate you, it's too early for this shit."
"Come on Nat, we both know that's not true." Carson chuckled.
The blonde sighed and shook her head. "You're right, I don't." She playfully pushed his face away with her hand before turning on her heel to walk down the hall.
"Uh, excuse you." Carson fained an offended look.
Natasha looked over her shoulder at him and continued walking, giving him a small shrug. "Shut up and go get ready. We're leaving for Wakanda soon. And do not make me have to come back here again."
Carson lifted his hands up in surrender. "Yes ma'am."
Once Natasha had turned around the corner and joined up with the others Carson made his way back into his room, smiling as he looked over at Wanda who was still out of it. He walked over to her side of the bed and crouched down, looking at her for a moment before deciding to wake her up.
If it was up to him then he would've let her sleep and leave her here. She looked so peaceful, so relaxed. And with what they were about to walk into, nobody knew how it would turn out. This was probably going to be one of the biggest fights of their lives and he'd be lying if he said that his visions weren't making him worry.
Carson let out a small sigh before reaching his hand out and placing it on top of Wanda's, giving it a small squeeze to wake her up gently.
"Wands." He whispered. "It's time to get up."
Wanda slowly started to stir into consciousness, a small groan leaving her lips as she started to wake up more. Her face scrunched up at first but once she opened her eyes and saw Carson crouched down at the side of the bed, she instantly relaxed and smiled warmly at him.
She moved her free hand and rubbed her eyes. "Hi."
"Hi." Carson grinned at her croaky morning voice before moving down and kissing her head.
"What time is it?"
"Just passed ten." He reached over and grabbed a shirt for Wanda and placed it in front of her. "We're leaving to head for Wakanda soon."
Wanda huffed and threw on the t-shirt before laying back down on her side, looking at Carson's hand that was on top of hers, her heart warming at the sight of the ring on her finger. "Five more minutes?"
Carson rested his chin on the top of his arm and looked up at Wanda. "You know I'd love to Wands. But Nat said we're already an hour late."
"I just, wish we could stay like this." Wanda said while running her hands through Carson's hair.
"I do too." He smiled at her. "But y'know the quicker we get out of here, the quicker we can deal with the purple guy, then you know what that means?"
"What?" Wanda asked curiously.
"Two words." Carson began as he started to fiddle with the ring, his eyes then meeting hers with a smirk growing on his lips. "Wedding. Book."
Wanda instantly perked up at his words and quickly sat up in the bed, turning to face him as she crossed her legs. "The wedding book! Does that mean we can start looking through all the different ideas when we get home?"
He hummed in response. "That's exactly what it means."
"And we can look through the venues? And the flowers? Oh my god, the flowers. They're really important, we're going to need lots of them. If that's okay with you."
Carson chuckled at how excited she was. "Of course, love. We can have all the flowers you want."
"There's going to be a lot to do y'know." Wanda looked at him and grinned. "Are you sure you still wanna marry me?"
"That's a tough one. I think so, maybe..." Carson paused for a moment and pretended to think, scratching the back of his head and his leant up. Wanda playfully rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure."
The redhead took his hand once more and beamed at him. "Good. Because this is it now. You and me, we're in it for the long run."
"In sickness and in health witchy." Carson smiled at her and then moved his head down to kiss the top of the engagement ring.
Wanda chuckled at his actions and then did the same, she looked down at their hands and gave his a small squeeze.
"Till death do us part."
