IT WAS early morning and Carson was sat down on the couch beside Wanda, who was getting a check up on her pregnancy by the doctor.
"Hmm." The doctor hummed as he moved over the stethoscope. Wanda and Carson exchanged a few glances, not being able to tell if the doctor seemed worried or content.
"So..." Carson looked at the man, waiting for him to say something.
"Yep!" The doctor nodded and stood up. "Definitely pregnant."
"Wow, what a brilliant observation—" Carson's sarcastic comment was cut off by Wanda hitting his chest with the back of her hand. "I mean... oh really? That's great." He shot Wanda a glare and she laughed.
"Isn't it just?" The man smiled.
"I do have to ask though." Carson addressed the older man. "This whole thing was pretty sudden, in fact it was practically overnight. We're just a little confused as to how this all happened."
"You see," The doctor started to explain. "When a man and a woman love each other very much."
Carson gripped the bridge of his nose. "Oh for the love of god."
"Well, we're just tickled pink, or blue." Wanda got to her feet and so did Carson as he helped her up.
"You're at about four months now. Is that right?" The doctor checked.
Carson shook his head while Wanda nodded. The couple made eye contact and Carson quickly corrected his answer and nodded along instead.
"I thought as much." The doctor continued. "We let the little ladies keep tabs on their growing babies with fruit. Makes it simple for them."
Wanda and Carson gave each other a look at the doctors words.
"At four months, the foetus is about as big as a pear. At five months, a papaya. Six, a grapefruit. Seven, pineapple. Eight, honeydew!"
"Yeah, that's great. Really great..." Carson chuckled dryly. "But what about, this is completely hypothetical of course, what size would it be in... say twelve hours?"
The doctor looked at him confused. "Uh, pardon? Twelve hours?"
"Well, I think this line of questioning is fruitless." Wanda joked and started walking to the front door to show the doctor out.
Carson followed behind. "Well, hypothetically speaking, should we be concerned?"
The doctor placed his hand on Carson's shoulder. "Hypothetically speaking, every new father-to-be gets nervous."
Wanda smiled. "Carson, why don't you see the doctor out?"
Carson nodded and started walking the man to the door. "Thank you for stopping by, Doc."
"Well, I'm just glad you caught me in time." The doctor said as he walked out onto the driveway with Carson. "I'm taking the wife on vacation this afternoon."
"Well I hope you both have a good time." Carson noticed Herb trimming one of his flower bushes. "Oh, hi Herb."
Herb waved. "Hey buddy."
Carson turned back to Dr. Neilson. "Listen, could you keep the news of Wanda's pregnancy between us three? Everything's happening so quickly and we'd like to keep the news just in the family right now."
"Of course. Mum's the word." Dr. Neilson nodded. "Well, I'm off. Bermuda baby!"
Carson watched as the doctor got into his car and drove away. A loud whirring sound caught his attention and he looked over at Herb who was using his trimmer to cut through the wall that separated their gardens.
"Hey, Herb!" Carson called out to him. "You're kinda cutting into the wall there."
Herb looked up and smiled. "So I am. Thanks, buddy."
"Don't worry ab— oh, aaaand you're doing it again." Carson stopped mid sentence and mumbled under his breath when the man started cutting into the wall once more.
It was quite strange really, it's as if he was no clue what he was actually doing.
Carson's face scrunched up at the sight but he decided to brush it off and head back inside to check on Wanda.
"Wands, I think we're going to have to get a new wall— JESUS CHRIST!" He came to a sudden stop once he turned around, his eyes widening when he saw that Wanda's baby bump had grown.
Wanda jumped and looked at him concerned. "What is it?!"
He started walking over to her. "Your baby bump love, it's grown."
"Has it? I can't tell from this angle." Wanda looked down at her stomach and knocked over some fruit. Before it could touch to ground, Carson's powers encased it and lifted it back into the bowl.
He let out a small chuckle. "The little gremlin really wants out that bad, huh?"
Wanda scoffed and playfully nudged his side. "I may be pregnant but I can still toss you across the room y'know."

THE COUPLE were in the spare bedroom of their house, which was soon to be their first child's, Wanda was using her powers to help her decorate the room while Carson was sat down in a rocking chair reading from a pregnancy book.
"Wands, it says in here that you shouldn't be doing all of this." Carson flicked over to the next page.
"But I want to decorate." Wanda continued what she was doing. "And see, I'm fine, so we have nothing to worry about."
"Nothing besides..." He looked down at the page to see what it said. "Morning sickness, mood swings, aching back and..."
Carson put the book down after reading what Wanda would be going through. He stood up and shot her a look, pointing towards the chair.
"Wanda sit down." Carson told her. "I'll do it while you watch alright?"
"Don't be silly." Wanda waved him off. "All I feel is excitement, happiness and... ooh!" She looked down at her stomach.
"Kicking? Already?" Carson asked in disbelief. He walked over to Wanda and placed his hand on her stomach.
"Oh, it's such a strange sensation. It's kind of fluttery." Wanda giggled. Carson smiled widely at her reaction and kissed the top of her head.
Their attention was pulled towards the mobile when the butterflies on it suddenly came to life and started fluttering around the room. One landed on Carson's nose and he paused for a moment, slowly turning to Wanda.
"Wands, you think you could..."
Wanda chuckled and gently took the butterfly off his nose before opening the window and ushering the rest outside.
"So, if that was the first kick..." Carson picked up the book again. "That means you're at... six months?!"
"Already?" Wanda asked as she walked back over to him.
Carson leant down and kissed the baby bump. "I can't wait to meet you, little Billy."
"Billy?"
Carson stood up straight and shrugged. "Well yeah. We already decided on Natasha if it's a girl so I was thinking Billy, if the little gremlin is a boy."
"I was thinking Tommy." Wanda suggested.
"There's Tommy..." Carson pursed his lips in thought. "But then there's Billy, isn't there?"
Wanda playfully rolled her eyes and shuffled closer to Carson, wrapping her arms around his torso as she nuzzled her face into his chest. "It looks like there's only one solution to this debate."
Carson slid his arms around Wanda and rested his chin on top of her head. "Mhm?"
"Hope for a little Natasha."

CARSON SAT down at the dining table, holding a doll in his hands with different baby supplies laid out around him. Wanda was watching him from the kitchen while she made a start on cutting up some more fruit.
"Wands." Carson called out. "Start the clock."
Wanda pressed the button to start the timer and Carson lay the doll on the table, practicing how to change it as fast as he could. Once he was done, Carson put his hands up and Wanda stopped the clock.
She looked down at the timer and started applauding. "Your personal best."
"See, I told you I'd do it." Carson smiled.
"Oh!" Wanda's hand moved down to her stomach.
"Wanda?"
"Ooh!" She said again. "Do any of your books talk about this? It's not painful, but it's strange."
"Like a tightening sensation?"
"Exactly."
"Oh, wait, wait." Carson picked the book up and started flicking through the pages. "Here it is, Braxton Hicks contractions. It's false labour, pparently they usually start in the third trimester." Carson got up from his seat and walked over to Wanda. "Does this mean you're gonna want to try the breathing exercises?"
Wanda nodded. "Yes please."
Carson did a demonstration of how they're supposed to go and Wanda copied him as he went along, holding onto her stomach.
After a few tries, Wanda glanced down at her stomach then back up at Carson. "Yeah, it's not working. I can still feel it."
Carson frowned, not liking having to see Wanda uncomfortable and not be able to help her. "I'm sorry Wands—"
He was cut off by Wanda letting out a groan. The tap in the kitchen suddenly started to run and the lights flickered on and off.
"What's happening?!" Wanda's eyes darted around the kitchen.
"What?" Carson tired to focus his hearing on Wanda due to how loud it was but because of all the different sounds, his powers couldn't lock on. "I can't hear you!"
"What did you say!" Wanda shouted over the noise. "Carson, I can't hear you!"
The fridge began to shake along with a few appliances all powering on. Carson took Wanda's hand and lead her out the kitchen, making sure she was alright in the process.
They both left the kitchen and stood in the dining room back to back, each looking around as all the lights in the house were turning on and off. All of a sudden, it went quiet and the lights turned off, everything going back to normal.
"It stopped." Wanda pointed out.
Carson looked at Wanda over his shoulder. "Are you alright?"
"I'm okay." Wanda let out a breath and nodded before walking over to the couch and sitting down. "All that for a fake contraction? Who knows what will happen when the real thing starts? Do you think that it affected the neighbours?"
Carson looked out the window and noticed the house across from them had no power. "I think so."
"What if they know it's us?" Wanda said worriedly. "With all the close calls we've been having... they're on the verge of finding out about us."
Carson gave Wanda a small smile and started to walk over to the couch to sit down next to her so he could calm her down. As he approached the couch a sharp pain was felt in his head again and his eyes slammed shut.
Carson rolled his eyes and sat down on the couch, looking out the window.
"Carson I told you already!" The man let out a huff. "You cannot just leave this compound whenever you damn please and go out for the day."
"Why not?" Carson looked at the man. "It's not a big deal, I just wanted some fresh air."
"You have fresh air here." He gestured outside the window. "Do you know how many acres this place has? You have everything you could possibly need right here, so what more do you want?"
"I just want to be able to act like a normal kid." Carson told him. "You don't see any other sixteen year olds not being able to leave their houses."
The man frowned and sat down on the couch next to him. "Look, I know you do bud, I do... but you're not just any kid. You're different. And because of that, we can't risk anybody finding out about you or your powers. It's too dangerous."
"But I can control them." Carson reasoned. "You see my training sessions with the others and I'm fine."
"Carson..." The man smiled sadly. "If I let you go out and something happened... if Hydra found out where you were again... then that's on me. And I'd never be able to forgive myself for that. It's for—"
"It's for my own safety." Carson mumbled. "I know."
A redheaded woman entered the room. She opened her mouth the say something but paused and looked between the two, sensing something was off.
"Is everything okay?" She asked.
They both looked over at her. "Yeah."
"Oh, okay." The woman nodded slowly. "Well I was just coming up to ask if you wanted to watch a film or something. Because if I have to stay in that meeting room any longer I think I'll lose it."
Carson smiled at her. "Sure."
"Uh, hello?" The man scoffed. "What am I chopped liver? Where's my invite, Romanoff?"
"You don't get one." She shrugged. "All you do is talk through them."
"Carson?" Wanda's voice snapped him out of it. "Is everything alright?"
Carson inhaled sharply and sat down, staying silent for a moment as he ran over what he just saw.
"Hey..." Wanda placed her hand on his. "What's wrong dorogoy?"
"Wanda I... I think there's something wrong here." Carson told her.
"What?" She looked up at him. "This isn't because you're nervous about the baby is it?"
"No, no. It's not that it's just," Carson assured her. "Just think about it. Mr. and Mrs. Hart at dinner, outside with Herb. Hell, every time I'm around Agnes I just get this gut feeling that something is off. And I keep hearing these voices, seeing these people. I knew them Wanda, I know I did. But every time I try and think about how, I can't remember."
"What people?" Wanda asked him.
Carson glanced at her. "Does the name Romanoff mean anything to you?"
Wanda's eyes widened ever so slightly. "I..."

"I know what you mean." Carson told her, now suddenly being stood where he was before he sat down as if the last few minutes never happened. "It's just because we're new here. I promise you there's nothing to worry about Wands. I know you're anxious Wands... and honestly, so am I. But we'll get through it, together."
"Together." Wanda smiled at him as he sat down next to her. "We just don't know what to expect."
"Nope. But that's okay. We can figure it out." Carson held her hand. "Because we have all the time in the world."
The two leant in for a kiss but before their lips could touch Wanda suddenly let out a gasp and pulled back, her hands instantly flying onto her stomach.
"Oh this is a real one!" Wanda groaned.
"What?!" Carson jumped to his feet in a panic.
"I know you said it would be soon but I didn't think you meant today!"
"Normally it takes nine months Wanda but yet here we are, so I'm sorry I'm not up to date with the laws of magical pregnancies!" He rambled.
Wanda started to do the breathing exercises and motioned for Carson to join in too so he could calm down. She stood up from the couch and took his hand once the two of them had relaxed.
"Better?" Wanda checked.
Carson let out a breath. "Better."
The loud cracking of thunder was heard along with rumbling coming from above their heads. Carson looked up, his face scrunching as rain started to fall. He looked back down at Wanda slowly and she gulped when she realised what just happened.
"Carson..."
"Mhm?"
"I think my water just broke."
"Well, shit."
