— TWO DAYS LATER —

NATASHA AND CARSON both walked through the streets of Budapest together side by side, Carson listening intently as the redhead informed him of the events that had happened a few days prior with the attacker on the bridge.

She handed him a small cluster of vials that were being help together by one of Natasha's hair ties and he narrowed his eyes as he studied the red glowing serum that was being held within the vials.

"This is what he wanted from you?" Carson help them up towards the sun to get a better look at what was inside. Natasha nodded in confirmation.

His head tilted in curiosity when he spotted something sticking out from the middle of the vials. He carefully removed what turned out to be a strip of photos that had a tear down the middle, missing its other half. The photos showed two girls, one with blue-ish hair and the other with blonde hair. They looked happy, both of them smiling contently and posing in each photo.

"Who are these two?" Carson asked.

Natasha looked down at Carson's hands to see what he was talking about, a small smile appearing on her face when she looked down at the photos.

"Well, that girl there, is me." She replied, pointing to the young girl with the blue hair.

"That's you?" He raised a brow. "Wow Nice hair, Romanoff."

"What's wrong with my hair?" She raised a brow.

"Nothing, nothing." He shook his head. "In fact, I think you should dye it blue again."

"Oh my god, shut up." Natasha playfully rolled her eyes at him, punching his arm lightly.

"Actually, Wanda has been wanting to dye her hair recently so maybe she'll do it with you." He teased.

Natasha laughed and shook her head. "How is Wanda by the way?"

"She's good, pissed that she couldn't come to help but other than that she's fine." He replied.

The original plan was for both of them to come to Budapest with Natasha. But it had only been a few weeks since the accords, the airport and not to mention the whole prison break. With Wanda coming out of hiding this early it would've been too risky, especially if what Natasha needed help with would attract the attention of the government. The only reason Carson was able to more around freely is because Ross had no idea that he was the one to break the Raft. Idiot.

Wanda would have to stay in London. For now at least.

Carson looked back down at the photos. "So who's the blonde one?"

"That's..." Natasha stopped and inhaled sharply, which Carson caught onto. "That... would be my sister."

Carson's movement stopped all together when he heard what Natasha said. She turned around, realising that he'd stopped waking and made her way back over to him, taking in the extremely confused look on his face as he put together what she just said to him.

"You have a sister?" He furrowed his brows. "You never told anyone about this..."

"I know... It wasn't that simple." Natasha gave him a sad smile and wrapped her arm around his, both of them continuing their walk down the street. "But let me tell you now. About everything."

The duo spent the next 30 minutes walking through the streets until they reached their destination which was the old apartment block that Natasha and Clint spent time in during their previous time in Budapest.

Natasha opened the gate to the apartment block and led herself and Carson through the small courtyard where they received a few looks from the locals.

"You alright?" Natasha asked as she arrived at the elevator, looking back at Carson who was studying his surroundings.

Carson nodded slowly and continued to look around, his eyes lingering on the prominent tire tracks that were on the ground. Someone came here in a hurry. After hearing the ding of the elevator, he pulled himself out of his thoughts and made his way over.

Once they had reached their floor, Natasha made her way over to a small vent that was on the wall and pulled off the cover, starting to feel around for something.

"What are you— Oh nevermind." Carson nodded in understanding when Natasha pulled away from the vent, now with a gun in her hand. "And what exactly are you planning on doing with that?"

"She's here." Natasha replied, holstering the gun in the back of her pants. "I know it."

"So we're, what? Gonna kill her?"

"It's just for precaution. I don't know if I can trust her yet." She explained and they started to walk towards the apartment door.

As they arrived at the door, Carson used his hearing to listen to the inside of the apartment. Just like Natasha had predicted, she was here. He could hear the sound her her heartbeat coming from the inside, her slow footsteps moving through the rooms.

She was being careful, quiet, she knew they were coming.

Just as they knew she was inside.

Carson gave Natasha a nod to confirm that her sister was inside and she took a deep breath. He moved his hands towards the handle, his red wisps travelling through the key hole and picking the lock.

"I know you're out there."

A girl's voice spoke up from inside, her Russian accent prominent. Natasha and Carson shared a look as he slowly placed his hand on the handle, getting ready to go in.

"I know you know I'm out here." Natasha grabbed her gun and gave Carson a nod to open the door.

They both slowly made their way inside, Carson carefully kicking the door shut behind him with his foot. Both of them walked down the halls side by side with Natasha checking the rooms on the right and Carson checking the rooms on the left. So far, no sign of her.

"Then why are you skulking about like it's a minefield?" She quipped.

Which was a big mistake.

Carson now knew what room she was in. He nudged Natasha and gestured towards the archway at the end of the hall, silently telling her about her sisters location.

She nodded in understanding and they both began walking towards the archway. "Because I don't know if I can trust you."

The girl let out a small chuckle. "Funny, I was going to say the same thing."

"So, we gonna talk like grownups?" Natasha remarked as she approached the archway.

Carson and Natasha both shared a glance to check if the other was okay before they turned around the corner, now becoming face to face with the blonde girl.

The two sisters instantly raised their guns towards each other without even taking a second to think. Carson moved his position so he was closer to Natasha, getting ready to push her away if the blonde decided to fire.

Her eyes locked with Carson's as he made the small movement, she actually looked quite surprised to see that Natasha wasn't on her own but she quickly brushed it off.

She looked away from him and turned her attention back towards Natasha. "Is that what we are?"

Natasha smirked and slowly began advancing forward, the blonde moving backwards through the room making sure to keep her distance. Carson followed behind, allowing a small amount of his energy to weave its way around fingers. There was no telling how this could play out so he needed to be ready.

The girls eyes travelled down to Carson's hands and she scoffed. "I see you've brought your own personal bodyguard." She glared at him and then looked back towards Natasha. "Put the gun down. Before I make you."

"You put yours down." Natasha replied.

As they made their way throughout the room, her sister tripped a little as she passed through into the kitchen.

"Careful." Carson grinned, earning a wry smile from the girl along with a subtle eye roll.

She came to a stop in the kitchen and so did Natasha and Carson. It was silent for a few moments, all of them looking at each other as they waited to see who would make the first move.

"We can talk ab—" Natasha tried to speak but was interrupted by the swift movement of her sister.

She grabbed a bottle of whiskey that was on the table next to her and launched it towards Carson, the bottle smashing in his face making him stumble back.

The girls both made a play for the others gun, both of them kicking it out of the others grip. The blonde grabbed hold of Natasha's arm and twisted it against her back, throwing her back and forth against the doorframe.

Carson stood up straight and let out an annoyed huff and he picked a piece of glass out of his skin. Yeah, sure, it would heal within a few seconds but it still ticked him off. He saw what was happening between the two girls and made his way over to the blonde, grabbing her arm and pulling her from off Natasha then proceeding to charge her against the cupboards in the kitchen.

She pushed her hand against Carson's face to disorientate him and try and push him away but he gripped her jaw and pushed her down against the counter.

"Well, aren't you just a little ray of sunshine?" He looked down at her.

The blonde wriggled in his grip as she tried to break free but he didn't budge. After a few more seconds of trying she let out a frustrated yell and grabbed a plate that was behind her, smashing it over his head.

Carson let go and moved backwards, wiping a hand over his face as his eyes fluttered open and closed. He raised his hand towards her so he could use his powers but she grabbed hold of a towel, whipping over towards him which caused it to wrap around his arm. She smirked and tugged the towel towards her which led to Carson being pulled closer too.

He huffed and regained his footing, spinning her underneath his arm so that the towel was now around her neck. She placed one foot up against the counter and pushed all of her weight back, sending Carson flying backwards through the double doors as she ducked down.

Carson landed harshly on his back and groaned, wiping the small fragments of glass from the now broken door out of his face. He propped himself up with his elbows and looked ahead to see the girl standing up, moving her ponytail out of her face.

"If you..." Carson began, getting to his feet. "Smash one more thing over my head again, so help me god I will— wait what are you... oh shit."

The blonde grabbed a knife from the kitchen and began charging towards Carson. He readied himself for the next small fight that was about to break out between them but before she could make contact, Natasha tackled her to the ground.

The redhead pulled the curtains from off the rails and wrapped it around her neck firmly, her sister finding the remaining fabric of the curtain and doing the same as Natasha. They both kept their grip on the fabric strong, none of them showing any signs of backing down despite the fact that they were both turning red from the lack of air.

With the flick of Carson's wrist the fabric that was around Natasha neck was loosened and she gasped for air, her skin returning to it's normal colour now that air was actually getting to her lungs. Natasha let go of the fabric that was around her sisters neck and lifted up her hands in surrender.

The girl instantly pushed herself away from Natasha and lay on her back, pulling the curtain from off her neck while she caught her breath.

Natasha moved to lie on her side and looked at her sister, a small smile forming on her face. "ты вырос. (You've grown up.)"

Her sister moved the curtains from over her head and stood up, not really showing much reaction to what Natasha said. "нет дерьма. (No shit.)"

The girl walked past Carson, shooting him a glare on the way past. He scoffed and made his way over to Natasha, taking her hand and helping her up.

"Thank you." She said, giving his hand a squeeze.

He gave her a small smile and let go of her hand, making his way back into the kitchen. Natasha followed behind him.

"Now that we're all acting like adults." Natasha addressed her sister as she walked into the kitchen with Carson. "Yelena, this is Carson, Carson this is Yelena."

Yelena stopped rooting around in the fridge and turned her head to look at Carson, who took a seat at the dining table. She gave him once over before shooting him a fake smile then continuing to root around in the fridge.

"Great, we're out of whiskey." She mumbled.

"Actually you did have some, but you decided to break it over my head so.." Carson replied and Yelena rolled her eyes.

"Well what was I supposed to do." She shrugged. "You was standing there and—"

"Yeah, exactly." He interrupted. "I was just standing there. Doing nothing. And you just," Carson imitated the bottle colliding with his face using his had.

Yelena walked over to the table and leant on it with her hands. "You know what—"

"Alright. That's enough." Natasha clapped her hands together to grab their attention, they both turned to look at her. "So, you just had to come to Budapest didn't you?"

"I came here because I thought you wouldn't. But since you're here, what bullet does that?" Yelena pointed to a spot on the wall behind Natasha and Carson.

Natasha looked over her shoulder at the marks on the wall. "Not bullets. Arrows."

"Ah, right." Yelena nodded slowly. "Cool."

"If you didn't think she'd come here," Carson used his powers to pull the backpack Natasha brought into his hand, pulling out the cluster of vials and placing them on the table. "Why'd you send her this?" Natasha nodded in agreement.

Yelena looked between the two in disbelief. "You brought it back here?!"

Yelena walked out of the kitchen, Carson and Natasha getting up and walking after her. Before Natasha left the room, she turned around and picked up her half of the photo strip, putting it in her pocket on the way out.

"I'm not here trying to be your friend, but you need to tell me what that is." Natasha called out to her.

"It's a synthetic gas." Yelena answered as she walked into one of the bedrooms. Natasha and Carson entered the room, Natasha moving towards one of the clothing racks to change her shirt and Carson walking though into the bathroom to wash his face that had some dried blood on it. He closed the door behind him to give them privacy just in case they wanted to change but still made sure to listen to what they were saying.

"A what?" Natasha questioned.

"The counter agent to chemical subjugation." Yelena explained. "The gas immunises the brain's neuropathways from external manipulation."

Carson froze mid way through rinsing his face and lifted up his head, gripping either side of the sink with his hands as he waited for Yelena to continue. He knew exactly what she walk talking about.

I'd like to thank you, Мой сын (My son.) Because of you, Hydra will be able to come out of the shadows.

His grip on the edges of the sink became tighter as the memories flooded back into his mind. He slammed his eyes shut, taking a deep breath as he tried to block them out.

You will be the Avengers downfall.

"Maybe in English next time?" Natasha sighed, breaking him out of his thoughts.

He looked up at himself in the mirror, swallowing the lump in his throat when he noticed the slight red hue to his eyes.

"Это противоядие от контроля над разумом. (It's an antidote to mind control.)" Yelena remarked.

Natasha rolled her eyes. "Настоящая зрелая. (Real mature.)"

"Why don't you take it to one of your super-scientist friends? They can explain it to you." Yelena suggested while taking an empty backpack from the wardrobe and filling it with some supplies. "Tony Stark, maybe?"

"Yeah." Natasha said sarcastically as she changed her shirt. "We're not really talking or on the best of terms right now, so..."

"Oh, great. Perfect timing." Yelena sighed.

Carson opened the door to the bathroom, his hand over his eyes just in case anyone wasn't dressed. Natasha chuckled and a small smirk graced Yelena's lips as his shoulder bumped the door frame.

"You both decent?" He asked.

"Mhm." Natasha hummed. "You can take your hand off your eyes now."

He moved his hand and leant in the doorway, folding his arms. "I could try and talk to Tony, see if he—"

"No." Natasha disagreed. "I don't want him getting involved in this."

"Where's an Avenger when you need one, hm?" Yelena mumbled under her breath.

Natasha rolled her eyes and turned to look at her sister. "I don't want to be here. I'm on the run. You could've gotten me and Carson killed."

"Well what was I supposed to do?" Yelena scrunched her face up. "You're the only superhero person that I know. That was the whole reason I sent it to you."

Natasha stayed silent and grabbed her jacket, throwing it back on.

"I kept checking the news," Yelena spoke up again. "Expecting to see Captain America bringing down the Red Room." She zipped up the backpack that was in her hand and made her way out of the room.

Carson stood up straighter as he just processed what Yelena had said, looking over at Natasha who's face was written with confusion.

"What..." She mumbled before following after Yelena.

"Didn't you say you and Clint dealt with the Red Room?" Carson asked as he joined Natasha's side.

She exhaled and looked up at him. "I thought we did..."

Natasha and Carson caught up with Yelena who was in the weaponry, grabbing a few knives and shoving them into her bag.

"The Red room has been gone for years." Natasha's dismissed what Yelena had said. "Dreykov's dead, I killed him."

Yelena chuckled. "You don't actually believe that, do you?"

Natasha and Carson shared a look, which Yelena caught onto. She furrowed her brows and stepped forward, her tone becoming more serious.

"You really do believe that..."

"Dreykov's dead." Natasha repeated. "It took almost destroying the entire city just to get to him."

"If you're so sure, then tell me what happened. Tell me exactly."

"We rigged bombs."

"Who's we?"

"Clint Barton." Natasha took a deep breath. "Killing Dreykov was the final step in my defection to SHIELD."

"Simple as that?" Yelena mocked.

Natasha shook her head and walked back into the kitchen. "Yeah, sure, 'simple'. That's what I'd call imploding a five-story building and then shooting it out with the Hungarian Special Forces. It took ten days in hiding before we could even get out of Budapest."

"You're sure about this, that he's alive?" Carson spoke up.

She looked at him for a moment before speaking. "Oh, believe me, I'm sure."

He rolled his eyes at her tone and walked into the kitchen, Yelena following behind after a few seconds.

"And you checked the body? Confirmed the kill?" Yelena questioned.

Natasha paused, her jaw clenching a little. "There was no body left to check."

"You're forgetting about Dreykov's daughter—"

"Wait, shh." Carson interrupted, looking up at the ceiling and tilting his head. He could've sworn he just heard something.

Yelena scoffed and looked at Natasha. "Did he just shush me?" Carson wafted his hand at Yelena, dismissing her. "He just did it again!"

Natasha glanced over at Carson who was walking through the kitchen, his gaze locked on the ceiling as he followed the sounds he could hear. She instantly realised what he was doing and looked back at Yelena, shaking her head at her to tell her to listen to him.

Yelena scrunched her face in confusion, still not understanding what was going on.

Natasha tapped her head before mouthing over to her. "He can hear something. Shut up."

Carson turned around and pointed to the vials that were still on the table. "Yelena put those in your bag, now."

"Carson, what is it?" Natasha walked over to him.

"There's people on the roof."
