Yana Baker was what some would call a good girl. No thoughts of doing anything bad like having sex or doing drugs, anywhere inside her head. But the things she will find out once she moves to East highland will Shock her to the core. And maybe she'll think another way.

Yana POV:
Dad had decided that we should move to get change of scenery. I sit in the car looking out the window the whole time watching different things we passed by like cows, billboards, and empty grass fields.

I always wondered what it was like to be a cow sitting in a big grass field all the room they must have to be free. Or sometimes I would want to be the empty grass field feeling the nice sun on it. I imagine myself as a lot of different things and I don't know why.

Yana doesn't know but the closer she get to East highland the closer she is to hell. Now when Yana got there I was just coming back from rehab. I didn't known she was there till I got back. I only have a memory of seeing Yana as a baby.

I look over to my dad who has not said a word to me this entire time. Sometimes I wonder what goes through his head but don't ask about it, dad and mom always told me not to ask questions like that.

We soon drive down the rural road to pass a sign that says welcome to East Highland. We're finally here it felt like it would take for ever to get here, I then heard my dad say something "We'll go see your aunt first before we start moving in to the house." I give a quick "ok" and turn to look back outside the window. As we got in the town we started to pass buildings while traveling to my aunts house like houses and stores.

I've seen nothing like it since I never really went outside. Soon we pull up to a house that believe was my Aunt Leslie's. My dad start to unbuckle his seat belt and walk to the house front door. So I follow beside him.

3rd POV:
Yana was nervous see had never meet her Aunt Leslie wil except for when she was a baby. She didn't even know see had an Auntie or cousins her dad told her that auntie had two daughters one around Yana's age and the other a bit older. When he said they were moving to East Highland.

Seconds after Yana's dad knock on the door older looking black women comes to open it. That who Yana assumed was her aunt and she was right. "How are you Ben," Leslie says in a soft voice follows by a "please come in".

Leslie eyes move from her younger brother to look down at the child next to him. "She's gotten so big since the last time I seen her she was a baby." Leslie move to give the young girl a heartfelt hug. The hug felt very homey for Yana like the ones her mom would give her.

After hugging the young girl Leslie goes to give her brother a hug. She whispers into her brothers ear while hugging, "It must have been hard for you but, your here now and that's all that matters." She had whispered it to her brother because she felt that she may alarm the young girl by mentioning her mothers death.

Leslie leads the young girl and her father to the couch in living room. She then calls for her two daughters Rue and Gia to come to the living room because they have guest over.

As the two girls walk in they see a older black man sitting next to a young mixed girl that looked similar to him but not the same. Leslie tells the girls that this is their Uncle Ben and their cousin Yana they just moved here today.

The younger looking sister quickly introduces herself to Yana, "Hey I'm Gia and this is my older sister Rue." Yana quickly says with a friendly simile on her face, "It's very nice to meet you Gia and Rue."

"How about you guys go hangout in your room Gia, while me and your uncle have something important to talk about", Leslie says.

Soon the three girls walk to Gia's room. The girls sit in a very awkward quietnesses not known what to say to each other.

It was the end of summer, the week before schools started. I had no intention of staying clean. And Jules and also Yana had just moved to town.

Rue slowly starts to leave the room. "I'm going to the store", Rue says to her mother. "Take Yana with you it'll be good for her to see around the neighborhood", Leslie says.

"Fine", Rue responses to her mother. Yana then follows Rue out the front door.

Yana POV:
Me and Rue walk to the store. "So why did you move here", asked the out of nowhere. I responded with "I don't know I guess for just change scenery as some would say." After that small conversation we continue to walk in silence.

We arrival at the store. As we walk in I see a white guy thats tall with a red beard and buzz cut. "Yo Rue you back", he says to Rue. Rue says to him "yeah".

His eyes then trail away from Rue to me. "Who's the girl", he says. Rue than says "she's my cousin she just moved here".

I the day "Hi I'm Yana". "I'm Fezco but you can call me Fez nice to meet you Lena", he says. Fez than turn his direction back to Rue "There's some new girl and town that I think you gonna be friends with".

Rue says "who". "Shit, I don't know. She came in yesterday lookin' all Sailor Moon and shit. I'm thinking to myself, like, look like somebody Rue would get along with." Fez says.
Then he says "How long you been back?" Rue says "Five days."

"And how are you feeling?" He asked. "I mean, ever since.  I gave my life over to my lord and savior Jesus Christ, things have been, like, really good." Rue says. " Word? That's what's up." Fez response.

They continue their conversation which I zone out from. Looking around the store seeing different items on racks and in freezer. "Yana come on," I hear rue say.

We then go inside of a freezer. I look to she a kid that looks around my age with a buzz cut and face tattoos. He was eating blow of cereal which he sits down and then says "I thought your ass was dead." And Rue snap " I thought you had Asperger's till I realized you're just a prick."

"Who the fuck is that," He says while looking at me. "Oh this Yana she's my cousin she just moved here," Rue says. I give the boy a quick "Hi." The boy then says " Well who said I was fucking talking you." How rude I've never had any talk in that way. Him and Rue than go back to there conversation.

He than takes a blow full of white powders and other things  out of the micro wave next to him. "This is a fickle industry. Y'all come and go. I'm just trying to stack my cash, pay off our mortgage. So what the fuck you want so'um?" He than hands Rue something form the blow.

I start to zone out again. Is it me are is cold in here should brought a jacket. Than my attention snap to the boy as he asked me do I want anything.  Rue than speaks for me and tells him "no."

After a while we start to leave but I just can't get that boy out of my head. I've never seen someone as cute as him did I just say that. I also wonder what was in that blow that he had and what he give to Rue.

And Ashtray felt the same way about having a certain girl stuck in his head. She just had a different feel compared to others around the town.
