"Let's go. Sit, sit, sit, sit. We got a lot to cover today," Coach said as everyone shuffled into the classroom.
"Hey, Stiles, sit behind me, dude," Scott said. Stiles went to take the seat but Allison had gotten to it first. Nova sighed and took the seat behind Stiles.
"Let's settle down," Coach said, slamming a book down, interrupting Allison inviting Scott to study at her house. "Let's start with a quick summary of last nights reading. Greenberg, put your hand down. Everybody knows you did the reading. How about...McCall."
"What?" Scott asked.
"The reading."
"Last nights reading?"
"How about the reading of the Gettysburg Address?" Coach sarcastically suggested.
"What?"
"That's sarcasm. You familiar with the term sarcasm, McCall."
"Very," Scott sighed, looking behind him towards Stiles and Nova.
"Did you do the reading or not?" Coach asked.
"Um...I think I forgot."
"Nice work, McCall. It's not like you're not averaging a 'D' in this class. Come on, buddy. You know I can't keep you on the team if you have a 'D.' How about you summarize the previous nights reading? No? How about the night before that?" As Coach talked, Scott's heartrate continued to rise. "How about you summarize anything you've ever read in your entire life? No? A blog? How about the back of a cereal box? No? How about the adults only warning from your favorite website you visit every night? Anything? Thank you, McCall, thank you. Thank you for extinguishing any flicker of hope I have for your generation. You just blew it for everybody. Next practice you can start with suicide runs. Unless that's too much reading."
Nova watched over Stiles' shoulder as Scotts heartrate began to slow. Her brows furrowed before she looked over and saw Allison holding onto Scott's hand.

"It's her," Nova told Scott as the three walked out of class.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"It's Allison," Stiles said. "Remember what you told us about the night of the full moon? You were thinking about her, right? About protecting her."
"Remember the night of the first lacrosse game?" Nova added. "You said you could hear her voice out on the field."
"Yeah, I did," Scott nodded.
"Well, that's what brought you back so you could score. And then after the game in the locker room, you didn't kill her. At least not like how you were trying to kill us."
"She brings you back, is what we're saying," Stiles concluded.
"No, no, no, but it's not always true," Scott told them. "because literally every time I'm kissing her or touching her..."
"No, that's not the same," Nova said with a disgusted face. "When you're doing that, you're just another hormonal teenager thinking about sex."
"You're thinking about sex right now, aren't you?" Stiles asked, seeing the smirk on Scotts face.
"Yeah. Sorry..."
"Look, back in the classroom when she was holding your hand, that was different, okay? I don't think she makes you weak. I think she actually gives you control. She's kind of like an anchor."
"You mean because I love her."
"Exactly."
Scott paused, thinking about his words before asking, "Did I just say that?"
"Yes, you did," Nova confirmed.
"I love her," Scott grinned.
"That's great," Stiles said. "Now, moving on--"
"No, no, no, really. I think I'm totally in love with her."
"And that's beautiful. Now, before you go off and write a sonnet, can we figure this out, please? Because you obviously can't be around her all the time."
"Yeah, yeah. Sorry. So what do I do?" Scott asked.
"I don't know," Stiles admitted. "Yet."
"You're getting an idea, aren't you?" Nova asked.
"Yeah."
"Is this idea gonna get me in trouble," Scott asked.
"Maybe."
"Is it gonna cause him physical pain?" Nova added.
"Yeah, definitely," Stiles said. "Come on."
***
"What are we doing?" Scott asked as Stiles led him and Nova outside.
"You'll see. Hold on," Stiles said, standing in front of a truck. "Stand right there. Do you have your keys? Perfect. Hold 'em up like so. Now, whatever happens, just think of Allison. Try to find her voice like you did at the game. Got it?" Scott nodded. "Okay. Just keep holding it there. Nova, you're gonna wanna follow me."
"Oh, Jesus Christ," Nova groaned when she realized what the plan was when Stiles got his keys out of his pockets. He walked along the side of the truck and dragged his key across it.
"Hey, hey, hey, dude!" Stiles shouted towards Scott. "What do you think you're doing to that truck, bro!"
"What the hell?" The kid who owned the truck shouted when he looked over his shoulder. Scott quickly shoved his key in his pocket and shook his head before he fell to the ground after the kid landed a punch to his jaw.
"Oh!" Nova shouted. "Ouch." The twins watched as Scott got beat up by a group of friends as they observed his heart rate.
"Oh, that's not okay," Stiles muttered as he watched what was happening. "Come on, buddy."
Stiles held up the phone with his heart rate present on the screen with a smirk when Scott looked over at the two after their teacher had broken up the fight.

The small group of three sat in detention that afternoon. Scott was still wiping blood from his nose, Stiles was messing around with his pencil, and Nova was half asleep with her head in her hand.
"Excuse me, sir," Scott spoke up, directed toward Mr. Harris, their science teacher. "I know it's detention and all, but, I'm supposed to be at work, and I don't wanna get fired." Harris just smiled tightly at him before turning his attention back to his work, never answering Scott.
Scott looked over at Stiles and said, "You knew I would heal."
"Yep," Stiles replied.
"So you did that to help me learn? But partially punish me."
"That ones a little obvious," Nova added, lifting her head from her hand.
"You guys are my best friends, and I can't have you guys being angry at me," Scott explained.
"I stopped being angry awhile ago," Nova shrugged with a smile.
"I'm not angry anymore," Stiles said. "Look, you have something, Scott. Okay? Whether you want it or not, you can do things that nobody else can do. So that means you don't have a choice anymore. It means you have to do something."
"I know. And I will."
"Alright, all three of you, get out of here," Harris told them.
"Peace out!" Nova shouted, grabbing her stuff and running out of the room.

"This is a terrible idea," Stiles told Scott as they pulled into the school parking lot in the middle of the night.
"Yeah, I know," Scott said.
"But we're still gonna do it?" Nova asked.
"Can either of you think of something better?"
"Well, personally I'm a fan of ignoring a problem until eventually it just goes away," Stiles told him.
"Just make sure we can get inside." Scott looked over as another car pulled into the parking lot. "He's here. Where's my boss."
"He's in the back," Derek said. He had duct taped Deatons mouth and stuck the unconcious man in his backseat.
"Well, he looks comfy," Nova said.
"Wait. Hey. What are you doing?" Derek asked.
"You said I was linked with the Alpha. I'm gonna see if you're right," Scott told him.
***
"It's creepy in here at night," Nova observed as they walked into the school office.
"Okay, one question. What are you gonna do if the Alpha doesn't show up?" Stiles asked Scott.
"I don't know."
"And what are you gonna do if he does show up?" Nova asked next.
"I don't know."
"Not loving this half-baked plan, but alright."
"You said that a wolf howls to signal his position to the rest of the pack, right?" Scott asked Stiles.
"Right, but if you bring him here, does that make you part of his pack?" Stiles asked.
"I hope not," Scott said. He handed him the PA mic. "Okay. All you."
"What the fuck was that?" Nova asked after Scott's weak attempt at a howl.
"Was that okay? I mean, that was a howl, right?"
"Yeah, technically," Stiles told him.
"Well, what did it sound like to you."
"Like a cat being choked to death, Scott," Nova said.
"What do I do? How am I supposed to do this?"
"Listen to me. You're calling the Alpha. All right? Be a man. Be a werewolf, not a teen wolf," Stiles said, attempting to hype up Scott. Scotts next attempt was a powerful, earth-shaking howl.
***
"I'm gonna kill you three!" Derek said as the friends walked back out to the parking lot. "What the hell was that? What are you trying to do, attract the entire state to the school?"
"Sorry. I didn't know it would be that loud," Scott shrugged, feeling a little proud of himself.
"Yeah, it was loud. And it was awesome," Stiles grinned.
"Shut up."
"Don't be such a sour-wolf," Nova smirked.
"What'd you do with him?" Scott asked, noticing Deaton was missing from Dereks car.
"I didn't do anything," Derek told him. Next thing Nova knew, she was watching Derek choke on his own blood at the hands of the Alpha. She only moved with Scott forcefully pushed her back towards the school.
