I woke up to my phone blowing up with calls and messages. I can't believe I slept off with my data on last night. I'm sure half my data is drained now and I just bought a new one. I  groaned in annoyance getting out of bed to use the ladies. It is 8 am and I was still very much feeling sleepy. Getting back to my room I yawned tiredly and hopped back into bed It was Friday and all my classes were canceled for today.  This means I have enough time to sleep now and Study later in the day but my roommate weren't having any of it.

"Moana will you stand up from that bed now. it's already 8 and you're still sleeping ."

"Abi oo, don't you have class again this morning ni?"

I groaned in displeasure And annoyance to the statement of Rachel and Winifred not moving an inch on my bed. I still wanted to sleep some more because I had the most exhausting week ever. With my eyes still close, I mumbled an answer to them saying

"The class isn't holding"

"Are you sure? Because the last I checked you have classes last week Friday  and they held."

"Hmmm this one was canceled"

I managed to mumble back my response to Bukola my bunk bedmate and the room was quiet after that. Everyone went their merry way doing their thing while I stayed on my bed slowly drifting back to the dream world. After 3 more hours of having a romantic dinner with Diggy Simpson a well known black American actor, I finally woke up on my own, did a little workout before hitting the shower to have a bath and brush my tooth.

It was already after 11 am and I was beyond hungry. There was no light to cook in the hostel and even if there was I didn't have the strength to. I was soo tired and hungry even though all I did is sleep the better part of the day, I left my roommate Winifred in the room before stepping out to go get something to eat. Once I got to the cafeteria that was within the hostel I ordered for bread and egg and while I sat there waiting for my food I decided to distract myself from my hunger by watching the television that was playing a music video.

I was bobbing my head to the song while my bread egg was being prepared until the channel changed to Silver bird television {STV} a life board-cast was going on and since I wasn't in control of the Tv remote I couldn't complain or change the channel. all I had to do was pay attention, who knew it might actually be important, and be able to help in an upcoming assignment. paying attention to the news the report wascgiving she said with all tone of seriousness and finality.

We interrupt this program to give you live updates on the Growing number of COVID 19 cases in Lagos, Nigeria. It is no news to us that the Deadly virus is Now within our country living and breathing with us. This is all due to an Italian citizen who returned to Nigeria from Milan to continue his work here. The case was confirmed on the 28 of February 2020 and ever since it had been spreading rapidly. As of now, we have close to 100 cases in Lagos and 15 of them have been confirmed dead due to this virus. Everyone is advised to Be alert, and if you go out pls maintain social distancing and used a nose mask at all times. The —

I zoned out after that so, so my lecture was telling the truth. He knew what he was saying when he said the virus COVID 19 was now in Nigeria, not just in Nigeria but in Lagos where I lived. Now I was actually scared. mortified if possible I didn't want to die or get killed by a virus at least not in my final year. I still had hopes of getting married of meeting new people, traveling out of the country, and achieving my dreams because to be fair Staying in Nigeria wasn't unlocking my full potential.

"Sister come, come and take, your bread and egg is ready"

I snapped my head towards the direction of the voice that sliced through my thoughts. I smile at her and collected it before going back to my room. I quickly entered and shut the door as if someone was chasing Me. Winifred who was still in the room looked at me as if I had grown two heads

" dear naso we see am oo. But this news About COVID being in Nigeria has been out for about two weeks. How come you are just knowing now ."

"Dear lord. I always thought it will start in China and end in China or better still Italy. Not coming to Nigeria and of all times not now when I am about graduation."

I said practically yelling at her and pulling my hair as if she were the course of the problem.

"See they did nor used to shout on my head, ooo Biko"

She respond pouting and blinking her eyes at me like a 3year old who was denied her favorite lollipop in her attempts to cheer me up. Obviously, it didn't work so she finally got up from her bed to hug me hoping that will relax my nerves and push back the tears that were already gathering in my eyes.

" what are we going to do Winifred, we are both in our finals. How will our education —"

"Shhhh it's okay Moana don't think about it, you should pay attention to your phone it's been blowing up all day"

"Okay"

I responded before she let me go and climbed back up to her bed. I went to my bed to take a sit to calm myself down, after a while I stood to prepare hot tea with my bread and egg and once it was ready I ate my food in silence while I thought my phone. I couldn't believe I had close to five thousand messages unresponded to on WhatsApp and 15 missed calls from different people. I sigh before answering them all it took another extra two hours but I finally reasoned to them all. I made sure to put off my data this time so I don't end up finishing whatever is left of my data. After putting away my used plate and keeping my phone, I took out my book and began to read.
