Chapter 15: The Fourth Dream
Oh, I'm getting sick of this. The whitish shade fulfills the darkness, fading slowly into a deep shade of brown and green. 23 other teenagers stand around me in identical military outfits, and we are on a military battlefield. The only two weapons at the Cornucopia were a few swords and a few muskets. I immediately go for the sword when the gong sounds. I have a better chance with it; but as soon as I start to sprint, everyone else sprints in the same direction, toward the swords. "Change of plans," I mutter as I grab a musket. I also grab a pack and swing myself over a hay bale. I crouch behind it and take aim at Sparrow. It didn't hit her where I was expecting, but it pierced her shoulder badly. Her cries of pain echo the air as she wields her sword high up. I sneak up behind her and jump on her. She screams, her face turning pale. I take my musket and plant it on her forehead. She immediately stops squirming and stares at me. "Don't. Move. Or. Else." I rumble in a deep voice. She nods with a gulp. Suddenly, I feel a pierce through my back. A cry of pain releases in the air as Sparrow stares in horror. I drop to the ground almost immediately, but the shock has caused my finger to pull the trigger. Sparrow's hands become cold as she drops dead, lifeless. I stare at her hand as the cannon immediately goes off. And with that, I feel a gentle hand on my back. It's Max. I moan a bit as he wraps a bandage around my wound; around my waist, crimson red blood can still be seen through the gauze. He helps me up, and we trek over to a tree as we watch Sparrow's lifeless body being carried up and away carelessly. Then, I turn around, only to see the District 7 male, raised sword in hand. His face twisted as he spits, "That. Was. Sparrow. She. Was. My. Cousin. And. Now. You're. Dead."
Suddenly, I feel a pierce through my wound. I couldn't do it. I screamed for 10 minutes, strangling the boy from 7, pulling his hair. Finally, I gave up. I let my legs go limp, as I said goodbye one last time to this world.
My eyes blacked out.
The pain left.
And so did I.
