✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

August 1st, 1984

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓, 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐀 𝐒𝐔𝐍 peaked through the curtains of Jenna's bedroom window, hitting the furniture, as well as the numerous photos of the romeros, and Jenna, Nicki, and Ali. Getting out of bed, she walked over to her record player, turned it on and Elvis Presley's That's All Right began to play as she walked to the closet to pick out an outfit.

Now, a little background on Jenna. Jenna Theresa Romero is the daughter of Los Angeles County Sheriff, Alex Romero and Norma Romero, and the younger sister of Dylan and Alex Romero. Dylan is a freshman in college, while Andrew is a junior in college, and lives at home with the Romeros, but spend the majority of the time at the frat house with their friends.

Jenna and her family live in Beverly Hills, one of the  wealthiest parts of the San Fernando Valley. Although  she came from a wealthy family, she and her brothers weren't stuck up. She was pure and kind, while Dylan and Andrew were laid back. Alex and Norma wanted their children to attend a private school, but Jenna and her brothers insisted on attending public school, being they were very extroverted. Their parents caved in and allowed them to attend public school, where Dylan and Andrew met their best friends, Eddie Matthews and Brian Clark, and Jenna met her best friends, Nicki Duncan and Ali Mills, whom she considers the sisters she never had and vise versa.

Jenna, Nicki, and Ali used to have sleepovers at one or the others homes, play with barbies, and swear they would be the aunts of each other's children one day.

As Jenna searched through her closet she sang, and bopped along to All Shook Up, she decided on denim shorts and a sleeveless blouse. It was the last month of summer and Jenna was trying to enjoy as much of it as she could. As she finished putting her hair up in a ponytail, the phone began to ring. Jenna turned down the record player, walked to her bed, and sat down and answered the phone

"Romero residence, Jenna speaking." Jenna smiled

"Hey Jen. Please tell me you don't have anything planned for today." Ali said on the other line.

Jenna smiled as she put on her flip flops. "Hey Ali! Nope, I'm free. What are you thinking?"

"Wanna meet Susie and Barb at the diner, go shopping afterwards, and then you, Nicki, and I can have a sleep over at my place?" Ali asked

"Sure." Jenna smiled

"Great, I'll pick you up at 12!" Ali smiled

"Okay, bye." Jenna said. "See you then."

Norma and Alex sat at the table drinking a cup of coffee, while Dylan sat at the table, eating his breakfast, as Jenna walked into the living room and set her purse and overnight bag on the couch, then walked into the kitchen.

"Morning." Jenna smiled as she walked to the fridge to pour herself a glass of orange juice.

"Morning sweetheart." Norma smiled as she set her coffee cup down. "You want some breakfast?"

"No thanks mom." Jenna said as she sat down next to her brother at the table. "Ali, Nicki, and I are meeting Susie and Barb at the diner for lunch, then headed to the mall afterward. Nicki and I are also spending the night with Ali."

"Well, you girls just have fun today, and be careful." Alex said, then he stood up from his chair. "Well, I'm heading out to work. I love you guys."

"Love you daddy." Jenna smiled

"Love you too, honey" Alex said as he kissed his daughter's head

"Bye dad, have a good day." Dylan said. "Love you."

"Love you too." Alex said

Norma and Alex walked to the foyer, where he put on his brown leather jacket. Beaminh at her husband, she wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you, honey. Please be safe today."

"Always am." Alex said as he wrapped his arms around his wife's waist. "I love you too, Mrs. Romero." Alex pressed a kiss to his wife's lips, then grabbed his wallet and keys, and walked out the door, closing it behind him.

Norma smiled as she walked into the living room to fold laundry, while her children sat in the kitchen finishing their juice. "So there was a party in the hills last night. I went with a few of the guys from the frat house." Dylan said

"Yeah? How was it?" Jenna asked, taking a sip of her orange juice

"It was good, except for Jimmy, the boy who has liked you since sophomore year was asking about you. Wanting to know how you've been, where you were, why you didn't come to the party." Dylan said

Jenna sighed as she ran a hand through her brunette hair. "Dyl, Jimmy and I are just friends."

Dylan slyly smirked. "From the way he was talking, he doesn't want to be just your friend."

Jenna rolled her eyes in annoyance. "You punk, what did he say?"

Dylan shrugged his shoulders as he stood up. "Not telling. Find out for yourself."

Jenna huffed, then stood up from her chair. "You're a thorn in my side."

Dylan shurgged his shoulders. "I know."

As Jenna walked into the living room, a loud beep was heard in the driveway, indicating Ali had arrived. Jenna grabbed her purse and her overnight bag. "Bye mom! I'll see you tomorrow night."

"Bye sweetheart." Norma said. "I love you, be careful, have fun, and tell Ali and Nicki your father and I said hello."

"I will and I love you too!" Jenna said as she walked out the door

Jenna walked outside and walked to Ali's blue mercedes, to find Nicki in the front seat. As the beautiful brunette opened the door, Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield played on the radio. "Hi girls!" the brunette greeted as she got in the car.

"Hi! You look so pretty!" Ali smiled

"Thank you!" Jenna smiled as she returned her best friend's embrace. "Hey, can you turn up the radio? I love this song."

"Sure thing." Ali smiled as she turned up the radio, and drove towards the diner.

Nicki turned in the front seat to face her best friend. "I'm surprised to see you on time. It's a world record for you."

"Hey, it's always you two who are late." Jenna laughed

"Touché."

Jenna, Ali, and Nicki sat in the booth of Sal's Diner with Susan and Barbara, while David Bowie's Let's Dance played on the juke box

"Dylan said the party last night up in the hills was one hell of a party." Jenna said as she sipped her cherry cola.

"Every party in the hills gets wild. You three were invited but never showed, so Barb and I looked like idiots going alone, so thanks for that by the way." Susan said

"Sorry for that, but you know I'm not much of a party goer." Ali said as she bit into her burger

"I would have gone, but I had dinner with mom and dad and my grandparents at the country club in Malibu." Nicki said

"I'm sorry about it too, I'm not one for parties. Besides, my idiotic brother was there, didn't he keep you two company?" Jenna asked as she wiped her hands on her napkin

"Yeah, but he was with his college friends, so we had to hang out with the Cobra Kais, and that included Jimmy, who by the way, was asking about you, and he drove us crazy." Barbara said

"Who?" Jenna questioned

"Don't give us that Jen. You know exactly who we're talking about. Jimmy wouldn't leave us alone, asking where you were. He wanted to see you." Barbara said

Nicki and Ali began to tease their best friend, making kissing noises. Jenna nudged the blonde with her shoulder. "Oh, shut up. Anyway Ali, I don't know how you do it with johnny."

"Don't even get me started. He's probably hungover and asleep. He's at Tommy's last I heard. He can't go home drunk because of Sid, and he can't come to my place, as mom and dad would find out."

"Trouble in paradise?" Jenna asked, taking a sip of her cherry coke

"Other than him getting drunk every day, yes. I'm  starting to be put off by his arrogance and quite frankly, I'm getting tired of it." Ali said

Ali had been dating Johnny for two years, since the night after movie theatre. When Jimmy approached Jenna, Johnny approached Ali and flirted with her a couple of times until she finally gave in and gave him a chance.

Jenna was happy for her best friend, but seeing how arrogant and reckless Johnny was, especially given the fact that Alex has had to reprimand Johnny and even Dutch and Tommy on several occasions, she was concerned for her best friend.

There was no doubt in Jenna's mind that Ali was head over heels for Johnny and vice-versa, but time passed, it seemed to get worse, especially his drinking, fighting, and his arrogant attitude

"Well, we're here for you, whatever you decide to do." Jenna said.

"Always." Susan said as she wiped her hand on a napkin. "So, enough with the heavy. Ali, your birthday is in a few weeks. Have you decided what you want to do?

"Not really." Ali said. "I really want to go to Golf N' Stuff. As long as I have you guys there, I'm perfectly fine."

"Hey, I could talk to my mom. She was a party planner while she was in college, and she could plan your party if you'd like?" Jenna suggested

"Sure." Ali smiled. "Anyway, have you girls thought about colleges?"

"UCLA has a really good nursing program." Jenna smiled. "Nicki, you're still interested in the nursing program too, right?"

"Yes, I want to work for a while as a nurse, then go for my masters." Nicki smiled

"NYU has a really good college as well." Susan said

"Harvard has the best law program." Barbara said

"UCLA has a good pre-med program." Ali said as she finished her lunch. "You girls ready to head to the mall?"

"Of course." Jenna smiled

"I'm always down for a shopping spree." Susan said

"Yeah, with the upcoming school year, I need new clothes in my wardrobe." Barbara smiled

After the diner, the four girls hit the mall in Dillard's and were browsing through Ralph Lauren Duran Duran's Rio played

"Okay this top is so cute." Nicki said as she grabbed a red boho blouse from the rack. "I wonder if those new flats I bought would look good with these?"

"Of course." Jenna smiled as she looked at a silver dress, then placed it back on the rack. "You've got the skin tone for red."

"Hey girls, what do you think of this?" Ali asked as she came back with a light pink top.

"It's cute." Barbara said. "You have the skin tone for pink.

"Pink is so your color." Jenna said as she grabbed a couple of tops and skirts for herself

"So, I talked to Tommy last night who said, at karate practice, Jimmy kept asking about you." Susan said, as the girls stood at the register

"I mean he's a great friend. I feel bad for dumping my cherry coke down his shirt." Jenna said

"I mean dutch was being an asshole that day, and Jimmy and Bobby were egging him on." Ali said. "Besides, Jimmy likes you for you."

"Well, Ali's right about Jimmy liking you." Susan said

"Oh?" Jenna said as she moved aside and Susan placed her items on the counter

"We'll tell you in a second." Susan said as she paid for her items.

"Thank you ladies." the cashier said

"Thanks!" the girls smiled then walked out of the store

"Okay, tell me what you two were going to say." Jenna said as the girls walked out of the store and stood by the door

"Well, let's just say, he fantasizes about you quite often." Susan said

"They hear him all the time in the shower after karate practice." Barbara said. "They walked in and found him jerking off in the shower while moaning your name." the girls girls teased Jenna for this.

"You know what they say, Jenna and Jimmy sitting in a tree—" Nicki laughed

"Oh hush." Jenna rolled her eyes, then laughed. "What are we, in second grade?"

"So we'll see you girls tomorrow!" Ali smiled as she, Jenna, and Nicki put their bags in the trunk of Ali's car.

"Bye!" Susan and Barbara smiled as they put their bags in the trunk of Susan's car, got in and drove away.

"Hey Jen, come and check this out." Ali said as she sat in her room on the bed, reading a magazine while Nicki finished up in the bathroom, and Madonna's Angel played on the radio.

"What's that?" Jenna asked as she brushed her damp hair, and sat down next to the blonde on the bed. Ali handed the beautiful brunette the magazine, and she skimmed through it, as the blonde sat back against the headboard. "Mind blowing orgasms?"

"What about mindblowing orgasms?" Nicki asked, walking out of the bathroom, and joined her best friends in the bed. Jenna showed her the magazine. "Ali, what the hell?"

Ali laughed, "What? Susan gave it to me. Thought I would show it to Jenna in case Jimmy gave her a mind blowing orgasm."

Jenna rolled her eyes and playfully shoved her best friend. "Ali, Jimmy and I are just friends, nothing more."

Nicki rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Yeah, okay."

"You keep telling yourself that, Jen." Ali laughed

Jenna rolled her eyes and chuckled as she got in the bed under the covers. "Now that it's just us, tell us how things are really going with you and Johnny."

Ali sighed as she set the magazine in the drawer of the nightstand and turned to face her best friends. "Honestly, there's days when we're completely in love, and the next, we're at each other's throats. It seems he's committed more to karate than me."

"Ali, you know that's not true. He's head over heels in love with you, and has been every since the movie theatre." Nicki reassured

"Nicki's right. He's lucky to have you. If he didn't have you, who knows what shape he would be in. Nobody puts up with his shit the way you do." Jenna said

"It's a blessing and a curse I guess." Ali said.

"He'll come around." Jenna said

"I hope you're right." Ali said. "Anyway, we should probably get to sleep. Gotta meet the girls bright and early tomorrow."

"Night girls." Jenna smiled as she embraced her best friends

"Good night, and Jenna, sweet dreams of Jimmy." Ali laughed

"Shut up." Jenna blushed

"See you girls in the morning." Nicki smiled.

"See you in the morning."
