It was the next day and early morning Deepak had gone somewhere, for something important and now it's been the afternoon when Juhi saw him coming. She went and opened the door for him, with a very neutral face, completely opposite to Deepak's face which was glowing due to the excitement his heart holds for his Bitto's marriage preps.
Deepak - Arre Juhi, shehnai wale aur mithai wale..dono ko book kar aaya hoon. Ye vahi mithai wale hain jinki mithaiyan tumhe bahot pasand hain.
As Deepak entered, he straight away washed his hands and legs which got dirty due to the dust. As he came back, Juhi quietly offered him the towel and pretended as if she's not being affexted by what all he's blabbering excitedly.
Deepak - Maine to sabhi mehmaano ko keh diya hai ki sabko shaadi ke 2-3 din pehle aana hai! Dekha jaaye to sirf kuchh hi waqt reh gaya hai apni Bitto ke dulhan banne mein!
Deepak chuckled and shook his head at his own excitement while Juhi was fuming internally. Deepak's love and excitement for Monami & her wedding isn't getting easily digested to her but saying nothing, she just walked off to her room.
In the evening, when the sun was about to set and the sky was colored in orange hue, Juhi was on her rocking chair in her room, with her eyes glued to the holy Bhagwat Gita in her lap, Monami gently peeps in through the door as Juhi had called her and softly takes her permission, being well aware of how fast her temper rises.
Monami - Aapne bulaya, chachiji?
Juhi looked towards the direction of the voice with a jolt and when she saw it's Monami, she just hummed, giving her permission and Monami then only enters in the room and asks her to sit in front of her. She closes the Bhagvat Gita and kept it on the side-table maybe indicating that whatever she's going to say now won't be filled with love, support and gentleness, whatever the Bhagvat Gita teaches people.
Juhi - Dekho Monami, ab jaldi hi tumhari shaadi hone wali hai. Tum ab kisi aur ghar ki keh laogi. Tumhare ghar ab vo hoga..ye nahi! Hum sab kya pura mohalla jaanta hai ki Koel ke papa ko tumse kitna lagaav hai to zaahir hai ki jab tum chali jaogi, to unhe tumhari kami bahot mehsoos hogi. To behtar he hoga ki, tum abhi se unse dooriyaan banana shuru kardo. Jab tumhare chachaji bahar jaye, to chhoti bhi to unhe shawl de sakti hai? Haina? Vo sirf tumhare chachaji to nahi, Koel ke pita bhi hai..haq to uska utna hi...balki tumse zyada hai!
Monami was all the time looking down processing whatever Juhi wanted and for her happiness and for the peace to prevail, she lifted her face and smiled at her very understandingly.
Monami - Ji chachiji, jaisa aap chahengi..vaisa hi hoga.
Now, it was the time for Deepak to leave for the mandir for the daily evening aarti. He was standing on the door, waiting for his Bitto to come rushing and drape the shawl over his shoulders, like she has always done since childhood showing her concern towards him. But little did he know, she's about to give her most loved responsibility to her Chhoti. In her room, Monami was ironing Deepak's shawl while Koel just watched her doing so furiously, with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
Koel (angrily) - Sach batana jiji, maa ne kaha na aapse aisa karne ke liye? Jab bachpan se papa ko shawl aap udaati aayi ho to ab kyu chhod rahi ho?! Maa kya jatana chahti hai? Ki tum abse iss ghar ki nahi? Ye ghar paraya aapke liye?
Monami just smiled and picked up the warmly ironed shawl in her arms and passed it over in Koel's arms and caressed her cheek lovingly.
Monami - Main chahti hoon isliye aisa kar rahi hoon. Mere jaane ke baad ye sab tujhe hi to karna hai, main chahti hoon ki meri Chhoti meri aankho ke saamne hi sab seekh jaye. Ab jao, chachaji intezaar kar rahe honge!
Koel couldn't say no to the desperation in Monami's voice and quietly descended the stairs with the shawl in her hands and went to the door, where Deepak was already waiting and was surprised seeing Koel today, instead of Monami.
Deepak - Shawl aaj tu lekar aayi?
Koel - Vo, jiji kitchen mein hai papa.
Deepak understood that today she's busy and also now she's going to be married, so he can't keep her binded with her work and so, smiling, he bent a little and forwarded his shoulder to Koel.
Monami, who was observing everything from afar, couldn't control her eyes from glistening when she saw that Koel just draped the shawl on Deepak's one shoulder while she does it to cover both and so that he doesn't catch cold. Koel was doing everything out of her will and so, she can't be blamed for the imperfection. A lone tear escaped her eyes when even Deepak noticed it and pointed it out.
Deepak - Uh beta, Bitto humesha dono par udati hai.
Saying that Monami didn't get hurt when Juhi asked her to step back from being concerned about her Chachaji and give the shawl draping responsibility to her younger sister. It's not that she's now jealous of Koel but is happy that like this only, she'll slowly become responsible. But this isn't just a casual daily practice of draping shawl over Deepak's shoulder but it's something which her heart does for Deepak since years and now stepping back so abruptly, definitely bruised her feelings.
Juhi who was passing by, saw Monami's tear and how she immediately wiped it off. Pressing her lips tight, Juhi made another cut on Monami's already bruised heart.
Juhi - Monami, tumhare aur Chhoti ke kamre mein tumhare school ki kayi saari purani kitabein vagerah rakhi hain. Jo-jo cheezein tumhe apne saath apne sasural le jaani hain, unhe alag karlo aur baaki humein fekna hoga. Chhoti ko kamre mein aur jagah ki zaroorat hai!
In her room, Monami was surrounded by her old books, notebooks and many-many old art and craft works. Though at first Monami was very hurt with the way Juhi asked her to segregate her old stuff but seeing the positive side, atleast she made Monami revisit all the moments which were long lost somewhere in the adult, mature and responsible version of hers.
Seeing those old notebooks and turning their pages, Monami couldn't help but chuckle with tears of nostalgia. She took out all her favorite books like Parineeta from Sharad Chandra ji, Atithee and Samapti by Swami Rabindra Nath Tagore and many more filled with literature.
While pulling out the old stuff, some filled with love and nostalgia, while some were just scrap, Monami found an old art file of hers and very amusingly, she opened it and went through each and every page of it, exploring how her imagination was when she was maybe just 7 years old.
While turning its pages and chuckling, Monami eyes got stuck on one particular page. A page where she drew 'My family' where she had very lovingly and with pride, added her Chachaji, Chachiji, her Chhoti and herself. She caressed the picture with love and lovingly closed the file, as if feeling it incomplete because for the current Monami, now her family has been extended and cannot be completed without that one person. The person whose picture is kept on the table in front of her and also printed in her heart for ever and ever.
Later the next day, Monami went to the hospital and got some official work done for herself to be transferred in some other hospital in Delhi, her soon to-be residence. While she was returning from there and was walking in the gali that lead to her house, Koel, upon seeing Monami from the window, waved at her excitedly and screamed.
Koel - Jiji, jaldi aao..Dilli se phone hai!
Hearing that, Monami's feet rushed inside on their own and both the sisters sat excitedly beside Deepak who was on a call with Param, from Delhi. His voice was dripping with happiness and so, Monami's eyes sparkled with excitement, while her heartbeat rapidly due to eagerness.
Deepak (to Param on call) - Bahot-bahot badhayi aapko Param beta, hume bahot khushi hai ki Karan bete ka mission safal raha! Kab aa rahe hain vo vapis?
Hearing that Karan's mission has been successful, Monami felt as if she has heard something she's been yearning since so long. It felt like the first rain on a barren land and now her excitement to see him in front of her was on the 7th sky.
Param - Uncleji, Karan kal subah ki flight se Dilli vapis aa raha hai! Agar aapko theek lage to kya hum..Monami ko apne saath airport le jaa sakte hain? Hum sabki ichha thi ki kal jab hum Karan ko airport par receive kare to Monami bhi humare saath ho, Karan ko achha lagega.
Deepak (overly happy) - Arre aapne keh diya, samajhiye ho gaya Param beta!
Deepak covered the speaker of the phone and glanced at Monami once and without even asking, he knew what her heart wanted by her flushed crimson cheeks, he confirmed her arrival to Param.
Deepak - Monami iss khushi mein zaroor shaamil hogi!
Param - Ji theek hai uncleji, main kal subah gaadi bhej dunga.
Deepak hung up the call and when he looked at both his daughters, he couldn't help but smile wide seeing Monami blushing profusely while looking down as her piya was going to arrive while Koel was just nudging and teasing her again and again.
The very next day, a sleek grey car entered their gali and as it arrived in front of their house, Deepak excitedly came out and with excitement and pride, looked towards Monami's room and shouted.
Deepak - Bitto, jaldi chal..Dilli se teri doli aa gayi!
This was enough! As soon as Monami heard what Deepak shouted from down, she peeped from the balcony and as she saw the already parked car, her excitement knew no bounds and she hurriedly rushed down the stairs being cladded in a beautiful pink saree and open hair, as he likes!
That plane that flew in the air, had many-many passengers but none of them were as excited and eager to land as that one commando who can't wait to see his fiancé after a long duration of separation. Peeping out of the window again and again, today this very intelligent commando didn't realize that from this height seeing his fiancé would be next to impossible.
Faizi (in his mind) - Things love makes you do!
Faizi shook his head in disbelief at Karan's stupid antics and went back to his sleep. The airhostess served everyone gracefully but when she came to Karan, all she received was an intense stare. Being extremely deprived of his fiancé's deedar, Karan was getting too impatient that he was imagining the air hostess as Monami and couldn't stop himself from staring at her in surprise, with an open mouth.
In his imagination, in the uniform of the air hostess, his love was in front of him that teased him by showing how he shrinks his nose during cold and slowly, started going away from him. Karan followed her blindly like a lost puppy but with a wide smile.
Hamaari shaadi mein...
Turning her towards himself, he tried embracing her, but she very smartly dodged him and went away while Karan stood there elated and he himself didn't realize when he started dancing out of utter happiness and excitement.
Hamaari shaadi mein
Abhi baaki hai hafte chaar
Charaso baras lage ye
Hafte kaise honge paar
Nahi kar sakata main
Aur ek din bhi intazaar
Going to the food area following her, he danced letting out his feelings come out and tried caging her in his arms when she pushed him slightly and went away with the coffee kettles. While he again followed her without fail.
Aaj hi pehanaa de...
While the air hostess, oops Monami was busy helping some passengers with their luggage, our hero boy came from behind, turned her towards himself, made her sit on one of the seats and literally begged with a charming smile to make him wear the garland of her beautiful hands today itself. Keeping his head in her lap, all he repeated was only this one wish.
Ho aaj hi pehanaa de
Teri gori bahon kaa haar
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho...
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho!
Saving herself, Monami ran from there laughing and signaled him to keep his desires to himself, but he was adamant and kept following her. Mistakenly Karan was about to enter the cockpit to find her when he was stopped by some airhostesses, making him come back to reality.
Niche ho dekhu to
Ocean hi ocean hai
Upar jo dekhu to tu
Aakash mein roshan hai
Somewhere 35,000 feet beneath the sky, Monami looked up at the bright sky and waited desperately to meet him, from inside of the car. And here, Karan too looked down with admiration and love in his eyes, waiting for the plane to land soon or actually land on her house's terrace only.
Milan ki jaldi hai...
Milan ki jaldi hai
Plane ki dhimi hai raftaar
Meraa bas chale to
Main doon usaki
Chhat pe plane utaar
The passenger beside him stood up, grabbing his attention and now, Monami was imagined in her. Excitedly he rushed to her, but she escaped his hold quickly. Following her, he danced along with her and also, imagined her whole family on the plane. Seeing her Chachaji in front of him, he immediately touched his feet and looked where he pointed.
Maze sasural ke loon
Mahinaa puraa wahaa guzaar
There was her Chachaji, knitting beautiful sweaters and kept one on him and measured it, lovingly. Now, he was shaking hand with his dear Saali, Koel and as he teasingly leaned closer to her and she pushed him backwards, he directly landed towards Monami and immediately lifted her in his arms. Dancing along for a bit she held him by his collar and dragged him along.
Use lekar lautu...
Sang lekar lautu
Use lekar lautu main
Jis ka ikalautaa hakdaar
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho...
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho!
Throwing the coke can at him, Monami ran from there and when Karan noticed her absence, he went behind her only to realize the lady whom he's imagining Monami to be, is a Japanese lady, whom he had followed to the restroom. The things became very awkward as now she was staring intensely at Karan.
Japanese lady - You want to go in?
Karan shook his head with an awkward greeting. Meanwhile at the platform, though Param offered Monami some coffee, which she politely refused because now, all her hunger and thirst will only be vanished when she'll see her Karan. Her eyes were only at the arrival-departure timing board when Barkha came from behind and Monami immediately looked down blushing.
In the plane, Karan noticed a newly married couple sleeping peacefully, keeping their heads on each other's shoulders and were wrapped in one blanket. Staring at them intensely, all he could imagine was the same thing he wants to recreate with Monami. An airhostess, doing her duty, came and was about to wake the couple to offer some tea-coffee which Karan immediately asked her not to as they were looking very beautiful together.
Har pardes mein
Jaane waale ko meri hai raay
Jahan bhi jaaye apna
Dilbaar sang mein hi le jaaye
Being a good man, Karan took the coffee kettles himself and started humming and pouring coffee to everyone and offered chocolates to three wonderful children.
Doori ek pal ki...
Doori ek pal ki
Mujhse ab so sahi na jaaye
Kaash kismat meri
Thoda sa saath nibhaaye
Mujhse milne ko woh
Dilli airport pe aaye
Then he imagined, as if Monami tapped his shoulder and this time, didn't rush away but willingly dance with him. He slumped onto Faizi's shoulder, making him dance along on the beats of his heart and then again looked out of the window, as if manifesting to meet her at the airport itself.
Usko dekhte hi...
Achaanak dekhte hi,
Usko dekhate hi...
Mera dil zoro se chillaaye
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho...
Ho Monami ho jaanam ho!
And when he again took her name with all the love, he saw all the versions of her which he imagined in this short duration, whether airhostess, the Japanese lady or both at once. But at last, his Miss Fiancé was in front of him, radiating her shining power in that very elegantly imagined uniform of a pilot & now she took the lead.
Hamaari shaadi mein...
Abhi baaki hai hafte chaar
Mahine beet gaye ye
Din bhi ho jaayenge paar
Removing her cap, shaking her head to let her hair fall free, she danced around Karan and this time, instead of flying the plane, the pilot was flying someone's expectation higher and higher. Though the airhostess and the Japanese lady too came back for a while but ultimately, the version he really loves was in front of his eyes, making him drool.
Naa phir tarsaaungi,
Aur karvaake intezaar
Main yu pehnaa dungi...
Aise pehnaa dungi...
Hak se pehnaa dungi..
Tumhe apni baahon kaa haar!
Hair open freely, eyes darkened with kohl, hands cladded with red bangles & her in a red suit, finally it was what he's been wishing for since days. Showing off, with twists and turns and torturing him every moment by not letting him come close, she finally put her arms around his neck and pulled him closer.
Ho saajan ho baalam ho..
Ho saajan ho baalam ho!
He too pinned her too the counter and caged her between his arms and leaned in closer and closer while the naughty smiles, filled with love didn't reduce even for a minute. Nuzzling her already red cheeks with his nose, Karan made her blush even deeper. And when she realized what his intentions were, she squinted her eyes and lead him to his seat and blinking his eyes for a few times, Karan realized that it was Faizi who is leading him to his seat.
Faizi (in his ear) - Jaanta hoon Bhabhi se milne ke liye utavla ho raha hai lekin janaab zara aaram se..plane mein hain hum, aapke sasural mein nahi!
Rubbing his forehead while looking out of the window, Karan was so embarrassed that he couldn't even look into Faizi's eyes confidently and only wished for a hurried landing.
Hamaari shaadi mein
