Unsent Posts and Unattended phonecalls

-3 years later, Present Day-

" Are you sure there were no posts?" Abhay looked at the postman who shook his head.

" Nope. None."

" Not even one?"

" Nahi Sharma Ji, ek bhi nahi! Kiski chitthi ka intezaar hai?"

" Huh? Nahi nahi! Woh....mera ek parcel aane vala tha, post se. Toh isiliye....."

The postman smiled as he patted him on his shoulder and walked away.

Letting out a dejected tsk, he kicked his feet in the air and walked back in with Leo trotting after him.

" How come she sent no letters this time Leo?" He mumbled to the golden retriever who could simply bark in response as he nuzzled his head into Abhay's leg in order to comfort him, sensing his disappointed and sadness.

Abhay squatted down on the ground as he petted the dog.

" I think I should call her."

Getting his phone out of the pocket, he dialled the number.

To his disappointment, he was greeted by the same voice-mail.

" Hi this is Tanvi and I can't take your calls at the moment, if it's anything urgent, please drop a voice message or a text!"

He sighed.

" Did you talk to Tanvi?" His mother asked as she spotted him sitting near the entrance of the living room.

" She isn't picking up." He mumbled.

" She must be busy Abhay." She reasoned.

" So busy that she can't even call or text once in two weeks?"

She sighed and as her lips parted to speak, he got up and walked upstairs.

To her relief and delight, Shubman walked in through the door and Leo greeted him with barks and licks.

" Shubi! It's been so long! How're you? And Where's Sara? I thought she's come along too?"

He chuckled, as he bowed down to touch her feet and she patted his back in order to bless him.
" Jheete raho!"

" I'm good Aunty, how are you? Sara has definitely come along, but my dear mother and sister refused to let her go with me, and the three foremost women in my life chose one another over me and kicked me out of the house." He sighed dramatically as she smacked him.

" Dramebaaz! Woh hai hi itni pyaari kudi, koi vi uske saath rehna chahega."

" Par kitni der? Mujhse meri hi girlfriend cheenkar mujhe hi bahar nikal diya!" He whined.

" Where's Abhay?" He asked looking around.

" Upstairs."

" I'll go meet him." He told her and she nodded.

As he reached his room, he leaned on the door, knitting his brows seeing his best-friend's forlorn expression as he stared outside the window.

" She didn't write back, or respond to your calls and texts, did she?" He finally asked, breaking the silence and his head snapped towards the door so fast that Shubman feared he had a whiplash.

" Shubi! When did you come?"

" A while ago but that's not important. When did you talk to her last?"

" Three weeks ago. I sent a letter two weeks ago, got none in return, I tried calling, I was only greeted by the same old voice mail everytime. And she's not responding to my texts either."

Shubman's heart twisted at the sight of his best-friend's forlorn and deeply hurt state.

" Chal pata karte hai ki gal hai."

" Kaise?" He asked with a frown embedded on his face.

" Aise."

Yashasvi's number flashed on the screen as Shubman rang him up.

Abhishek's frown deepened.

What was he upto?

" Shubi! Hi! I'm so sorry I couldn't receive your call earlier, I'm actually with-"

" Eshanya. I know I know. It's completely fine. Can you do me a favour Yasha?"

" Yeah sure I can! Tell me, what is it?"

" I need to know if Tanvi is in Mumbai right now, and how is she doing."

Yashasvi quietened for a while.

" Tell Abhay I'll ring him up tomorrow morning."

" Thank you so much!"

" No problem! Talk to you later, bye!"

" Bye!"

" Khush?"

Abhishek shrugged.

He'd actually be happy when Tanvi would respond to his messages, receive his calls and write back.

" Oye Sharma Ji! Khush? Ab toh muskura le yaara!"

He chuckled, nodding.

" Vaise...how did you know she hasn't responded back in any form?"

" Well..." he put an arm around his shoulder.
" When your best-friend does something he hates, all for a girl, and she fails to respond back, he's bound to get upset. And I know that quite well."
