Never Letting Go
Mumbo's Perspective-
"Hey look what I learned." Martyn held Mumbo's hand as he gently took him onto the roller-skating rink.
"You skate?" Mumbo asked, impressed.
"Yeah! I used to love it when I was little." Martyn smiled and held Mumbo close as he helped him balance.
Mumbo wobbled slightly, trying to get his bearings on the smooth rink.
"I'm not sure about this... What if I fall?"
Martyn chuckled, his grip steadying Mumbo. "Don't worry, I've got you. Just focus on your feet. I'll be right here if you need me."
Mumbo took a deep breath and gave it a try, sliding his feet slowly across the rink.
"Okay, okay, this isn't too bad," he said, gaining a little confidence. "But I feel like I'm gonna go straight into the wall."
Martyn smiled warmly, his hand still gently guiding him. "The trick is just to keep moving, even if it's slow. You got this, I'm right here."
Mumbo grinned, looking at Martyn, his nerves beginning to melt away. "I think I might be starting to like this,"
Martyn laughed. "I knew you would. Roller skating is all about having fun. And, uh, not crashing. But I'm here, remember?"
Mumbo laughed and smiled.
They continued skating together, Martyn guiding Mumbo with gentle support.
The sound of the rink, the beat of the music, and their shared laughter filled the air, creating a moment that was as light and carefree as the smooth glide of the roller skates beneath their feet.
As they circled back toward the center, Mumbo glanced around, noticing the other skaters whizzing by with ease. His nerves started to creep back in, but Martyn's presence steadied him again.
"Alright," Mumbo said, a little breathless from laughing, "I think I'm actually getting the hang of it. Slowly, but surely."
Martyn smiled, pride in his eyes. "See? Told you it would be fun."
"I'm starting to believe you." Mumbo grinned, looking over at him. "I might even- "
Before he could finish, Mumbo lost his footing again, and this time, he tumbled forward, only to find Martyn right there, catching him with surprising strength.
"Okay, maybe we take a break now," Martyn said with a laugh, his arms still around Mumbo to keep him upright.
Mumbo laughed, slightly embarrassed but more amused than anything. "I think that's a good idea."
Martyn gently guided him off the rink, leading them to a bench near the edge. They both sat down, taking a moment to catch their breath and laugh at the chaos of it all.
"Alright," Mumbo said, smiling wide as he looked up at Martyn. "I'm glad you talked me into this. Even if I nearly broke my face a few times."
Martyn nudged him with his shoulder. "You didn't break anything. You look even more beautiful than you already are."
Mumbo's eyes twinkled, and he nudged Martyn playfully again. "You really think I look better after nearly falling on my face?"
Martyn laughed, "I'm serious. You've always been beautiful, but now I get to see you all flustered. I think it suits you."
Mumbo blushed heavily.
Martyn shifted slightly, leaning a little closer. His hand brushed against Mumbo's, fingers lingering for a second before intertwining.
"I..." Mumbo began, but he was cut off by Martyn gently cupping his cheek.
Martyn's gaze softened, his thumb gently brushing over Mumbo's skin as he slowly closed the distance between them.
It was a promise, a quiet confession, and when they finally pulled away, their foreheads rested against each other, both of them breathing a little faster.
Mumbo's eyes were wide, but there was a spark there, something brighter than before.
"Okay... yeah," he murmured, still a little breathless, "I'm glad I came with you. I'm really glad."
Martyn smiled, his lips still tingling from the kiss. "Me too."
