Samuel Witwicky did not have to take a guess when he saw his parent's face when they got off the phone. 

"Mom? Dad?"

Judy sighed and hugged Sam, 

"Oh Sam,"

Sam was completely lost, 

"What's going on?"

He could feel his mother's tears on his shirt as his father sighed, 

"That was the government,"

Sam shook his head, 

"Why...why would the government call us?"

Judy finally pulled away from Sam,

"Your sister...she's gone Sam,"

Sam immediately shook his head in disbelief, 

"What?! No no your lying! that's funny guys b-but come on,"

Ron shook his head with a sigh, 

"It's...it's not a joke son, Mazikeen died when their base was attacked,"

Sam looked at them calmly and nodded slowly before running out of the house and into the garage, he heard them yelling but they didn't chase them. He ran into the garage and yelled, 

"ROVER!"

The little droid immediately popped up from in a box and waved at him, 

"Hello Sam,"

Sam immediately grabbed the robot and hugged him closely, 

"What happened, Sam?"

Sam burst into tears, 

"I-It's Maze,"

Rover put his arms around Sam's torso as best as he could with his small size, 

"What happened to Mazikeen?"

"Sh-She's dead,"

"Oh-"

Sam pulled away from the robot as he saw his eyes darken,

"Are you okay Rover?"

Rover shook his head, 

"I do not know, Sam...I feel empty...and it is not because I require fuel, am I malfunctioning?"

Sam frowned and shook his head, 

"No, I feel empty inside too. It's from grief,"

"Grief?"

Sam nodded sadly, 

"It hurts...I won't ever see Maze again...and you won't either...and that hurts both of us,"

"Maybe she will just take longer to get home...it has been five years, do you think it will be another five?"

Sam frowned and shook his head and put a hand on Rover's head, 

"Rover, she is not coming home anymore,"

"Is it something I did? Sam I have been tasked to protect you for five years, did I fail?"

Sam immediately shook his head, 

"NO! No buddy you never have...Maze is with our grandparents now,"

Rover tilted his head, 

"Can we visit?"

Sam sighed sadly and brought out his hands, Rover stepped onto them as he brought the robot onto his shoulder, 

"We can't buddy...maybe one day we will,"

Rover sighed, 

"I will miss her,"

Sam nodded, 

"Me too,"

Rover looked at Sam, 

"Sam?"

"Yeah, Rover?"

"Can we go inside your new car now?"

Sam laughed and nodded, 

"Yes we can,"

"Good, I have not seen it yet,"

"I know bud,"

Sam took him to the yellow and black camaro he just bought and Rover nodded, 

"I like the color,"

Sam smiled, 

"I do too, now hop into the passenger side, we are going on a ride,"

"Okay, Sam,"

They got into the car and Sam made sure to put a seat belt on Rover, before doing so to himself too. The car turned on and the radio started playing, 

"New people new places fun times!"

Rover laughed, 

"I like this car,"

Sam laughed and patted his head, 

"I do too, I just have to fix up the radio a little bit,"

Rover tilted his head, 

"Why?"

Sam chuckled, 

"Cars do not actually turn on the radio by themselves unless we turn it on,"

"Oh okay, I understand, it has been added to my memory card,"

Sam smiled and nodded, 

"Good, I might quiz you later,"

"Then can I quiz you on math?"

"Absolutely not!"

Rover laughed again and nodded, 

"Mission accomplished,"

Sam glanced at Rover, 

"What mission this time?"

"You are sad, as am I, but you are priority,"

Sam sighed, 

"Rover-"

"No, do not Rover me, you are my best friend, Sam, and I will always try to make you smile and laugh,"

Sam chuckled, 

"And you are my close friend, don't repeat that to anyone, it might be strange if I tell people my closest friend is a robot,"

"I do not think it is weird if my closest friend is a human,"

"Rover,"

"Yes?"

"I am the only one you know,"

"And?"

"Who would you tell?"

"Point has been made,"

Sam laughed and sighed, 

"You know, if Maze was here, maybe she would have make a friend for you...another robot...just so you aren't alone ever,"

Rover shrugged, 

"I am never alone, I will always have you, Sam,"

Sam laughed and nodded, 

"I know, but I am not always home,"

"I have the dog named Mojo, he is entertaining,"

Sam laughed, 

"How is my dog entertaining?"

"He is always trying to catch me, but he never can,"

Sam smiled and nodded, 

"Okay sure sure, but I know Maze would have made another robot if she stayed,"

Rover nodded, 

"Most probable...but she is happy with her decision,"

Sam sighed, 

"She was until the very end,"

"Facts,"

Sam smiled and nodded, 

"She will always be my big sister, though,"

"And you will always be her baby brother,"

Sam sighed, 

"I am not a baby anymore,"

"Irrevelant,"

Sam sighed and nodded, 

"Fine fine fine. Now, let's go home,"

"Okay, do you know the way?"

Sam nodded, 

"Yeah, I don't need a gps,"
