𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋ SHE BRUSHED HER BLONDE WAVES OVER HER SHOULDER, her hand trailing across her soft skin down to her torso, it resting still atop her silk nightgown. Her bright red eyes were fixated on the open window, the breeze slow yet strong enough to blow a strand of her hair into her eyes, though she didn't care for it, her mind only on him.

Rosalie Hale had never expected to fall in love with the one who'd turned her into a monster, as much as he argued against it, she hated vampirism. It was a curse, and every time she wanted to scream at Nathaniel Giuliani, to rip his head off, to tear him limb from limb, she was never brave enough to do so. It wasn't about feeling unconfident, she never wanted to hurt him, she asked for help that night and that was what she received.

She knew she'd never come to terms with it, nobody ever did, not even the eldest vampires to exist but with his soft milk chocolate hair, his strong cold hands, his piercing red and gold eyes, and the way he was able to take her to heaven every time they touched was enough for her lifetime. A lifetime of love, happiness and joy.

Rose's ears zoomed in, the sound of words being exchanged heard in the front yard and she sped up as soon as she heard a raised voice, finding herself stood beside her mate in the space of a millisecond, "Don't yell at him." She snapped, ready to fight the blond man before her and Nathan chuckled, finding Carlisle Cullen's face of complete fear and confusion to be amusing.

"I'm sorry." He lifted his hands, showing surrender and she nodded, immediately relaxing as she felt Nathaniel's hand move to rest on her lower back, "You must be Rosalie, I've heard quite a bit about you. I'm Carlisle." He introduced, holding his hand out for her to shake but she didn't comply, taking a step backwards to stand behind her love, if that's what they were, she was sure of it.

The amount of times Nathan had mentioned the topic of mating and a vampire finding their true love, like fate, she knew that's what they were, she wasn't born yesterday. Yet Nathaniel never spoke of it, the conversation topic just lingering in the air waiting to be caught by one of the two. Nathaniel's voice brought her from her thoughts, capturing her attention.

"It's quite all right, Rose. He's an old friend..." He didn't finish his sentence, wanting to forget about the topic of their meeting, it wasn't a fond memory. Rosalie nodded, remembering the stories of how he had escaped the Volturi with a 'Mr. Cullen', that was a story which was hard to forget. Despite his reassurance, she stayed behind Nathan, her hand gripping the back of his black button—up.

"I'm sorry for becoming so aggressive but I need your help with this, please, Nathaniel. You know I never ask for favours." Carlisle pleaded and Nathan deeply exhaled, dragging one of his hands down his face before he nodded, slightly exasperated.

"All right, where should I look?" Nathan questioned, the only thing keeping him grounded being Rosalie's touch on his back. Carlisle grinned widely, happy the older vampire had complied.

"Washington, Forks."

NATHANIEL GIULIANI STROLLED THROUGH THE DARK STREETS OF FORKS, a small and gloomy town he'd never been to before yet he knew the place by the back of his hand. He'd always been one for adventures, so Carlisle went to the perfect person to look for his missing boy.

All shops were closed and no cars were on the roads, it looked abandoned, empty. The emptiness of the place made it all the more gloomy, and he couldn't wait to leave and go home to the blonde beauty waiting for him in his bed. He still couldn't wrap his mind around Rosalie, she drove him crazy, in a good way.

At the end of the pathway sat an opening to the forest, and unlike any normal person — which he was far from — he walked towards it, heading straight into the dark trees. He could hear every branch snap, every bird tweet, every squirrel climbing up every tree, he could hear everything, much more than Carlisle or Esme could.

So, you best believe that it only took Nathaniel five minutes to find the infamous boy he'd never seen before, "Edward?" Nathan leaned against a tree nearby, watching as Edward piled up the bodies of his victims, preparing them to be lit afire. Edward turned around in fear, his eyes wide in shock and he almost fell into attack mode, only to realise that the man before him was far from human, "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you."

Edward stayed quiet, nodding silently as he continued to pile the corpses with ease and Nathaniel approached, reluctantly helping him, "You don't have to do that." Edward mumbled, his tone irritated and Nathan could only chuckle at the boy's annoyance, pulling a lighter from his pocket.

"Do you acquire gasoline?" Nathan asked, waiting with the silver lighter in his hand and Edward quickly nodded once more, turning around and walking away to pick up the carton of gasoline sat by a tree. He strolled back over before pouring the flammable liquid thoroughly over the bodies, making sure he covered every one and with a flick of an ignition, a flame lit and the much older vampire threw the lighter onto the bodies, watching the flames ignite.

"These men... They were bad." Edward spoke up, looking at Nathaniel across the flames, just barely able to make out his face. The semi—newborn dropped down to the ground, leaning against a tree with his knees to his chest and Nathaniel rounded the fire pit, standing nearby with his hands stuffed into his pockets, "Rapists, harassers, kidnappers, and just standard bastards."

Nathan chuckled, shuffling on his feet, "I understand, I do the same, I have done the same for decades. That's how I met my mate, Rosalie." Nathaniel smiled sympathetically towards Edward, who looked over at him, an eyebrow quirked with curiosity.

"Mate?" Edward questioned, tilting his head ever so slightly. Carlisle had taught him of many things from blood control, the existence of werewolves, and the Volturi, but he'd never told him anything about mates... Though, it made sense, Esme and Carlisle were inseparable in a way no human couple could ever be.

"Yes... Vampires — they don't fall in love like any normal person, not that we're normal. We have bonds greater than any electrical, a connection with a person that only happens once in a lifetime. You can't find another mate, your other half." Nathaniel took a few steps forwards and held his hand out for Edward to take, hoping the boy would comply, "Carlisle is worried sick about you."

"He treats me like a child."  Edward rolled his eyes, latching his cold hand onto Nathan's, allowing him to help him up off of the muddy ground and Nathaniel couldn't help but laugh at his words, shaking his head, "Aren't you Nathaniel? The man who helped Carlisle away from the Volturi?"

"I wouldn't give myself that much credit, but yes, we escaped together." Nathan chuckled again, stuffing his hands in his pockets once again. The Volturi were much more interested in the Giuliani, finding his gift to be much more precious than Carlisle's, if anyone saved anyone, it was Carlisle saving Nathan.

"Right." Edward nodded awkwardly, hearing Nathan's thoughts echo in his mind, "Your gift is precious?"

"I can tell if one is lying." Nathaniel confessed, though it didn't take much to reveal his gift to the stranger. Edward quirked a brow, smirking ever so slightly.

"I can read minds." Edward replied with a smug expression, almost as if he was challenging the older vampire to a gift competition. Nathaniel could only laugh once more, pulling his hands from his pockets.

"You sound like you're challenging me, Edward. Are you sure you want to play that game?" Edward stared into his eyes, his own unique gold—red eyes narrowed with concentration and intimidation.

"Yes." Edward replied confidently, and suddenly, as if a light switch had been flicked off, Nathan's eyes had gone completely black, all colour vanished. If Edward was normal, he would've screamed, ran away, jumped back, or even attempted to protect himself, but instead, he stood there, fascinated.

"You're lying." Nathaniel smirked, his eyes flicking back to his normal ones as if nothing had ever happened.

"I will admit, your gift is rather special." Edward smiled, feeling much more comfortable with himself and with Carlisle after meeting the much older vampire, the Giuliani having put his nerves at bay.

"Why thank you, Edward. I'd say your gift was special too if it didn't invade others' privacy." Nathaniel told him, a hint of humour in his tone, causing Edward to laugh lightheartedly.

"Understandable, but it wasn't as if I chose my gift." Edward turned with the man, the two beginning to stroll away from the fire towards the exit of the forest as if they were being dragged there with magnets. They couldn't stay in the woods forever, they had people they loved to get back to. For Edward, it was Carlisle and Esme, and for Nathaniel? His blonde angel, the woman he'd always dreamed of, "But... it can still be special even if it makes me uncomfortable."

"That's true, Edward, that's very true." Nathaniel chuckled, bumping his shoulder with the newborn's.

That was the day two damned souls met, becoming platonic soulmates for the rest of eternity. They were like brothers, hell, they were brothers. They loved each other and would do anything for the other brother, that was true friendship. A true bond.
