He was watching with full concentration towards the television hung on the wall that displayed Emmett and Jasper's game of Super Mario World.
The two younger vampires were clicking at their controllers, Emmett had his tongue between his teeth in anticipation as Nathan patted Jasper's arm every couple of seconds, egging him on. Lola was on the floor between Emmett's legs, playing Mario Kart on her black Nintendo DS, yelling in anger on several occasions, distracting Emmett completely.
"You know, the whole world doesn't revolve around gaming." Rosalie muttered, her eyes glued to the pages of her magazine as she spoke and all three, except Nathan, turned to look at her with unamused looks, causing her to glance over at them, shrugging, unbothered.
"And the whole world doesn't revolve around fashion." Emmett responded in spite and a quiet scoff erupted in the doorway, signalling that Alice was back from her gardening session with Esme by her side.
"Yes, it does! Oo, that dress is so pretty." The shortest vampire pointed at a silver dress on the page, leaning on the back of the couch and Esme joined, humming in agreement. Jasper couldn't help but smirk at his wife's enthusiasm, finding it adorable, but his face immediately turned serious again when Nathan pinched his forearm, bringing him back to reality with a chuckle.
"What dress?" Lola placed her DS on the ottoman and jumped up, bumping her knee into Emmett's on her way, making him grown in pain, "Oops, sorry, babe." She winced and rushed away to see the hype about the dress, squealing in glee when she finally saw the dress.
"It kind of looks like your wedding dress, Rose." Esme commented and Nathan leaned backwards in pure curiosity, his head on his wife's shoulder as he also admired the silver dress that was so similar to Rosalie's wedding dress, only it was glittery and silver.
"Beautiful. Just like you." Nathaniel commented, turning his head to look at the blonde with a sweet smile and he pressed his lips to the tip of her nose, causing her to giggle, his lips tickling her nose. She swatted him away, a huge starstruck grin on her face as she watched him sit up, turning to look at the television, her legs still in his lap.
"Oh, by the way, I should probably inform you all." Alice spoke up, catching everyone's attention except for Emmett's, who was too focused on winning, but Lola would fill him in later, "There's a new girl coming, Chief Swan's daughter. My vision wasn't completely clear, but she was with Edward."
Nathan stared into Alice's eyes, his eyes going dark for a split second before they turned back to their original golden mixed with crimson colour, "You're lying." He squinted his eyes with a smirk, and Alice rolled her eyes, interlocking her hands in front of her stomach as Jasper rushed up, his arm draping over his mate's shoulders.
"Ugh, fine! My vision was a lot clearer than I'm giving off, I saw Edward and the human kissing." She clapped her hands enthusiastically but Rosalie jumped up from the couch, standing opposite the younger vampire with a piercing glare that notified them all that she was pissed.
"Love?" Nathan pushed himself up as well, just much slower than his mate, who stayed put. He placed his hand on her arm, trying to convince her to look away from Alice and to look in his eyes, but she wouldn't comply.
"A human? Are you kidding?" Rosalie snapped, steam practically lingering from her ears and Nathan took a step back, his hand on her lower back for comfort. He knew not to get in her way, and to just allow her to let it out, Nathaniel knew Rosalie, he knew she would never hurt Alice.
"I have to speak with Carlisle about it, but yes, Rose, she was a human. Does it matter?" Alice tilted her head, her feet close together and her hands interlocked in front of her stomach, arms outstretched. Not many of them knew about Rosalie's hatred towards humans and how annoying they could be, but not only that, also how they could cause her family to be endangered, "I think it's wonderful!"
Nathan's hand began to move up her back, his fingertips tracing shapes on the middle of her back and she released a deep breath, finding reassurance in his touch, "If she causes problems for our family, I won't hesitate to say I told you so." Rosalie reached behind her and grabbed onto Nathan's hand, dragging him out of the room as fast as possible.
"The Queen of Drama has left us. Back to Mario!" Lola rounded the couch with her hands up in a jazz gesture and she threw herself down in between Emmett's legs, back in the same position she was is in before. The aforementioned man chuckled under his breath and he leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
Outside of the house, about a mile into the woods was where Nathan and Rosalie sat on a log, the sun amid the purple and pink sky shining down onto their pale skin, causing splashes of beautiful sparkles to appear. Rosalie laid down on the log, playing with her gorgeous engagement ring, her hands resting against her purple vest clad stomach and her head was placed on Nathaniel's lap.
Nathan was sat facing the sunset that hung over the mountain cliff before them, his fingers entangled in her stunning blonde softness you would call hair. His eyes were closed as he leaned back on his free hand that was pressed against the log beside Rosalie's shoulder, "You understand though, right? Nate?" Her golden eyes lifted up to the side of his face, wondering why he was so quiet and she smiled, watching his eyes slowly open again.
"Hm?" He hummed, looking down to her, and once he caught sight of her adorable smile, a grin spread across his own lips, unable to contain his happiness. She lifted her hand as she stared into his precious amber eyes swirled with a deep crimson that poured out peace and love, her thumb gracing his cheek before her entire hand reached up to the back of his head and she pulled his face down to hers, forcing his lips onto hers.
Nathaniel chuckled, adoring it when she was eager to be intimate with him and in a split second, she was sat up and on her knees, her hands pressed against his chest as they kissed passionately. His hands roamed her back, his fingertips moving under the hem of her vest, caressing her cold skin.
Much like Alice, a huge whiff of blood had to ruin their moment and Rosalie's face snapped away from Nathan's and in the direction of where the strong scent was coming from. She looked back over at her mate, her eyes now black with not even a slight hint of colour that they used to have and Nathaniel attempted to grab onto her arm, but before he could manage a grip, she was out of his clutches and rushing towards the smell.
He rolled his eyes, although he was way too used to the cat and mouse game, only he wasn't the one trying to kill. He pushed himself up, wiped down his washed out grey jeans and rolled his neck before he was on the move, chasing after his childish wife. When he found her, she was hiding behind a tree, seemingly watching a hiker trekking in the middle of the forest.
His eyes scanned the hiker, noticing that he wasn't from town and that he was fully in gear, completely alone and had a large gaping wound in his ankle that clearly didn't bother the man whatsoever. The guy groaned, rolling his eyes as he stopped in the middle of the path and looked down at his ankle, pulling up his jeans to reveal the blood smothered gash.
That darkened both Rosalie and Nathaniel's eyes, Rosalie's even more than before and the couple gave each other a knowing glance. Nathan had been alive three-hundred years, he had exceptional self-control but when he was around Rosalie, he lost all control of himself in more ways than one.
His tongue glided along his top teeth, feeling his fangs push through his gums and it was painful, but he was so used to it that he was almost numb to it, it felt like a prick from a thin needle used for blood transfusions. He smirked, and moved up behind his wife, moving some of her blonde strands away from her neck, revealing her veinless pulseless throat.
Nathan leaned forwards and pressed his lips to the dip in her neck, sucking on her skin gently, causing her eyes to flutter closed and her mouth to open agape, soft moans escaping her tongue. He chuckled, his eyebrows furrowing as he made out with her neck and he turned Rosalie's face to his so that she could look into his eyes, his eyes that were like no other vampire's.
His eyes were completely dark, no white, red or gold. No colour visible, and he lifted his top lip, his fangs on show. With one smirk, he sped forwards and leaped onto the unknowing hiker, his teeth sinking into the man's neck. His blood was salty and not as appetising as a jaguar would be, which wasn't at all delicious but it was satisfying enough for him to continue drinking.
The man went to scream, to yell for help but his mouth was slapped shut when his eyes connected with Nathaniel's as if he was completely out of control of his own body, as if he was obeying the vampire's every silent order.
A giggle erupted and both the mortal and the dark-eyed immortal looked towards the noise, only one of them smirking at the sight of Rosalie Hale, whose fangs were also only show, her irises dark. She smiled and rushed forwards, sinking her sharp teeth into the other side of the man's neck, both vampires sucking him dry.
Whilst they both enjoyed the 'vegetarian' lifestyle, they absolutely loved the human-eater lifestyle and were unable to completely ditch it. Carlisle, having known Nathaniel for such a long while, accepted it but insisted that the couple kept that side of their diet to themselves, and that was exactly what they did.
They fed on a deer after that to remove the human blood breath and they headed home, acting as if nothing ever happened. That was an everyday thing, and because of their tolerance, they were able to still go to school and go shopping. Rosalie did struggle from time to time, but with Nathan's hand in hers and his breath swirling with hers, she could get through anything... and I mean anything.
