*Song rec - Old Money
by Lana Del Rey*
Some people hate small towns but I have reasons to love mine.
I love how the weather never got hot and it was always below 70. I loved how you can wear sweaters and hoodies throughout the year without overheating from the sun. I love it, but with everything in life, there are cons.
My cons are the people, not all of them but most of them. You can hardly find anyone that is sincere and had a good heart, I'm sure they're out there but showing that here only makes you weak.
They all wanted to keep a good reputation and they loved money. If you had less than them you are automatically below them and they either act as if you're not there or they constantly remind you how they have more.
They are brutal and they are what makes me hate my town, I love but hate it at the same time.
That didn't exclude my family, I was the only child of one of the wealthiest families in town but a certain group treated me as if I was nothing.
Ever since I was young I kept to myself and I never made friends. It's a little too late for me to make them as all the people at school are the same ones since kindergarten. We hardly got new kids and so everyone already had an opinion made of everyone there.
Mine? Well, I was the spoiled brat who was too stuck up to talk to anyone. Was it true? No, I was no spoiled brat.
My parents didn't give me more than what I needed, I had nice clothes, shoes, and a big house over my head but I never asked for anything more.
With the allowance that I only got when I had good grades, I would buy art supplies and I didn't talk to anyone mostly because I knew they only wanted my family's money and not because they actually liked me.
There was a group at school with all the rich and spoiled kids except one person. Lee Minho wasn't rich but his family was quite wealthy, just not as wealthy as all his other friend's parents. The only reason they didn't mess with him and instead befriended him was because he didn't grow up around here but in a big city-making him different.
He only moved here freshman year and everyone had their eyes on him, not because of money that he didn't have but because he was simply attractive. Attractive but with a bad attitude. He got into multiple fights the first year and was almost kicked out and that immediately intrigued not just me but the group made of the most rotten people in town. He's hung around them ever since.
Now, why did this bother me? Well because I'd like to think I knew Minho, even though he didn't know me. I was only an observer but to me, I think he's only trying to blend into a town full of snakes.
