—ONE WEEK LATER—
(play audio when I say!)
"That's it baby! You're doing it!" I laugh with open arms.
Taesun usually can't go three steps without falling, but I'm filled with amazement to watch my son wobble towards me with the most innocent little giggles.
"Hoorayyyy!"
I parade once his hands finally reach mine, snuggling nonstop kisses into his neck and tickling his belly with my finger.
"You took 7 steps TaeTae! Mommy's so proud of you!"
"Dadda."
"Nooo, I'm mama."
"Daddaba! Oof—" His little joyful bounce lands him on his butt, making me sigh and stand with him on my hip.
"You know how to say dadda, bibi (Hobi), mimi (Mina), and banban (apanman)... Yet you don't know mama? I feel neglected." I pout.
Taesun pouts back, though his cuteness overthrows mine by a million. The way his tiny lip protrudes and big puppy dog eyes droop into my soul is beyond compare.
"Do you love your mommy, Taetae?"
He sticks out his tongue and blows a raspberry, my face slumping beneath his spit.
"Alright cheeky monkey, you sit here while mommy prepares something to eat." I place him in front of the TV where his toys scatter, since the living room is basically his nursery now. He proceeds to clap softly to the cartoon intro.
"Bannn Bannn..."
Although I'm supposed to be preparing food, I find myself admiring Taesun with a tilted head from behind the counter, showing no interest in looking away.
Every little movement he does, every cute face he makes... Is so precious. His looks are the embodiment of hypnotic but considering his genes, that's no surprise.
*Bzzz!* A text alerts my phone.
Hobi☀️: Chim and I are going grocery shopping, text if you need anything 👌🏻
...I feel pretty bad. Hoseok loves visiting the baby and offered to help again today, but the truth is... I made up excuses for him to not come over.
Not because he's done anything wrong it's just... After Taehyung's call got cut last week, Taesun didn't get time to hear his voice. So he called Hoseok Dadda, twice.
I love and appreciate the gang so much, but hearing Taesun call someone else dad was so heartbreaking, especially when his dad is more incredible than I could explain.
But I guess Hoseok was right. We have the gift of freedom, I have my drivers license and Taehyung sends plenty of money, yet all I do is keep us cooped in this house. Taesun doesn't go out often... So it's my fault he mistook him.
This world is just so full of twisted people, people who still hate me and nosey's dying to snap a photo of Kim Taehyung's first child.
One snapped photo could lead to a kidnapping... I know all too well what that's like.
...I wish Taehyung were here. Then I wouldn't feel this paranoid.
Taehyung...
Forgetting my swarm of thoughts, I check the time on the clock that reads 1:27pm.
I instantly abandon the food I was going to make and sit on the floor by the telephone for the next three minutes, my nails clamped between my teeth anxiously.
There's no ring yet, so I purse my lips impatiently as I wait.
And wait...
And wait.........
About 25 minutes pass with no ring.
What's going on? He's never missed a call, not even by a minute.
Maybe they've cut off his calls now too... But he's on good behavior. Why would they do that? Don't they realize he has a family? What has his son ever done to deserve getting cut off like this?
It's hard not to get frustrated at the thought.
I shut my eyes and let my head that was slumped against the wall, slump into my knees instead... Waiting eternally for a call that might not come.
*Ring ring!*
My body jumps up with scrambling arms as if someone had blown a trumpet in my ear. I almost pick up the phone without thought... When I notice the caller ID is different from the one I was expecting.
With a deep breath and rolled eyes, I hang up without even answering.
[Play audio]
*Knock knock!*
Nearly an hour later, my head quickly shoots up from my knees with furrowed brows.
Who's that? It can't be Hoseok, right?
Making my way to the door, I pull the handle when I'm met with...
...A giant polar bear plushie?
Who—
"Miss me?" Taehyung lowers the humongous bear from his face, revealing his ethereal smile and lightly blowing bangs.
I stumble back with crashed eyes and breath that's hitched behind my palm. My eyes run over his body non stop in denial and confusion.
No way...
I feel my knees tremble in threat of collapsing, but it doesn't take me long to scream and toss my arms around his neck, my legs lacing around his waist before he spins me happily.
His body is buffer than when he left, and dark locks are noticeably longer. Even after 16 months of prison... He looks perfect. I've never held somebody so tight in my entire life... My heart is beating so fast I'm worried it'll pump out of my chest and enter his.
"Oh my God Tae... Oh my God..."
His familiar velvety laugh welcomes my ear as I dig my face into his shoulder with tear-ridden eyes and shaky breath. I inhale every scent lining his body, and scrunch his shirt in my fingertips to validate that he's really real.
Please God... Tell me this is real. Tell me I won't wake up again, please...
Taehyung's hand on my head scrunches as he takes in my scent too. "I missed you." His arms tighten. "I missed you so fucking much Li."
"I m-missed you too..." I sniff profusely.
Eventually I climb down to tug his arms frantically.
"They gave you home visits?! I-I can't believe this... But... Where are your handcuffs? Why are you here alone? Where's your parole officer—?"
"Li."
"You're wearing a probation tag... I-I don't understand. This isn't real is it? This is all another..." I start to hyperventilate.
"Li Li calm down." He grabs my hands firmly and peers into my eyes. "This isn't a visit."
"Then...?"
"I'm home." His half-crescent moons nearly form tears as he brings my hands to his chest and whispers the words. "I'm here to stay. For real. They let me out..."
My eyes roam his so deeply that it's straining. I don't understand what's going on... Nor do I care.
He's out.
I hitch another breath and scoff laughter, tossing my arms around his neck once more as we share a long, passionate kiss.
I haven't kissed him in over a year now. I haven't held or been held by someone in that time, and neither has he. It almost feels foreign now, but at the same time our lips piece together like a jigsaw. His kiss is all I needed to forget my worries. His kiss and—
"Boobaa..."
I pull back and turn with a startled expression when Taesun coos from the living room. I can feel Taehyung's heart beating twice as fast.
I pull him excitedly to the living room before lifting our baby from his nest of toys. With Taesun on my hip, I turn to Taehyung with frowned brows and a smile. His lips part behind his hand as he faces his son for the first time...
"Taehyung... This is your son, Taesun. Taesun Bogum Kim."
We never discussed a middle name, but I knew tributing his longtime friend would be meaningful to him.
My breath is shaky with every word I utter but I hold myself together with a smile and whisper in Taesun's ear tenderly. "Baby, do you know who this man is?"
Taesun ogles at his dad with those huge puppy dog melts, and chubby cheeks that form a natural pout.
"...Daa...Dda..."
"That's right." I wipe the tear that runs past my trembling lips and breaking voice, "T-this is dadda..."
Taehyung squats and softly pinches his son's baby soft hand.
"It's nice to finally meet you, baby bear."
"Here, hold him."
Although my action startles Taehyung for a moment, he gladly takes him on his hip and bounces his mini-me lightly. For someone so tall, he holds him with such delicacy, yet such comfort.
With their faces inches apart, Taehyung takes the chance to absorb every one of his son's heavenly features. His dreamy eyes and long eyelashes, his petite jaw and chin, that porcelain skin, my pouty lips that somehow still form his dad's box smile, his unique nose mole and big round ears... He scans every little detail, not a feature going unnoticed.
"He looks... Just like me." Taehyung's eyes grow misty at the masterpiece in his arms. His lower lip sinks in while he sniffs. Taesun scans his face while obliviously playing with his father's fluffy hair.
"You're a thousand times more beautiful than I could've imagined. My son... My beautiful baby boy." He nuzzles their noses and delivers feathery kisses to his lips.
"Daddy loves you so much. Daddy's gonna give you the best childhood you could dream of. You're gonna grow up with parents who love and protect you. Parents who'd never hurt you..."
His face turns red as it scrunches with sniffs and tears. "I'm gonna give you everything I never got... Okay? Everything."
Taesun coos gibberish before wrapping his petite arms around Taehyung's neck and resting his head on his dad's shoulder.
The tear-filled smile on his face has me smiling through quiet sobs. Taehyung's eyes meet mine before he extends one arm and I enter his embrace without second thought, my wet face buried in his shirt. He kisses my forehead, nose, then lips while holding me close.
"I'm so happy." He sniffs and bawls, "This is the happiest I've ever been Li. I don't ever want to leave this moment."
"...Me neither." I whimper out.
This is the moment I could only dream of... From the stray boy who lost his mother and father in one horrible night... To being a father himself. To having a son he could love with all his heart, teach amazing life lessons to and call his family.
Family...
For the first time in 13 years... Taehyung has a family.
And he deserves every minute of it.
"I have to feed Taesun before his nap... Wanna help?" I pull back and wipe my eyes happily. "I'm sure he's bored of me feeding him by now."
Taehyung looks at his child ecstatically.
"I'd love to."
We go to the kitchen where Taesun is placed in his high chair. I retrieve the baby food and place it in a bowl in front of him.
Taehyung lifts the filled spoon but Taesun only frowns blankly.
"He um... Likes it when you pretend it's an airplane."
"Oh. I see." He nods before stretching his mouth into an open box and twirling his head, making plane sounds. "Hereee it comes... Open wide! Aahhhh.....!"
It's the same gif ^ Wattpad just deleted it for no reason so I re-inputted it.
"You like that?" He laughs at the way his son chews sloppily, wiping his mouth with the bib.
He then repeats himself, leaning in with the goofiest baby voice and shaking his head so their noses brush. "Do you like that? Do you like that smelly food? Hm? Peeyoo!"
Taesun smacks his palms against the high chair-tray playfully with squeaky giggles and a box smile that puts his gums on display. The whole time they're interacting, I only watch in admiration.
I've never seen Taesun laugh this much through a meal, nor have I seen such a spark in Taehyung's eyes.
I no longer have to worry about raising a child on my own, answering questions when he's older or being paranoid to take him out alone...
"Is this the show you like?" Taehyung looks at the TV over his shoulder.
"I've never seen it. You'll have teach me the song. Then again... I guess you'll have to teach me a lot of things about you, huh?" He smiles weakly.
I can tell he feels guilty about not knowing his son better, but it's not his fault. Things could've been way worse. So I place a hand on his and he easily shoots me a smile, taking in both mine and the baby's features.
"You know, we made such a beautiful child... We should make another."
I snort and instantly retract my hand.
"What?! Do you know how painful—"
"Kidding." He returns to feeding Taesun, but a devious grin still peaks as he whispers to our baby with a scrunched nose,
"I'm not really kidding."

—NIGHT—
After showering, I brush my teeth, dry my hair and keep my towel up simultaneously. Out of habit, I've gotten used to multi-tasking. Taesun needs his bottle in approximately 2 minutes or else he'll get restless and throw a tantrum.
I quickly ruffle my hair dry as I scurry out the bathroom connected to our bedroom. Once I do, I come to a surprised halt.
Taehyung sits on the bed with Taesun in his arms, watching him dreamily while feeding him and singing a gentle lullaby. Taesun's little eyelids flutter slowly at the melody of his deep voice.
...I almost forgot that he's back. Of course it hasn't left my mind, but at the same time I'm just so used to putting him to bed myself.
Taehyung looks up and notices me with a rounded mouth. "What? A-am I doing it wrong?"
I exhale a chuckle as I approach him and stroke Taesun's hair.
"Nope. I just forgot I have someone to help with bedtimes now."
"You hear that little Tae? She forgot about me already. What a terrible girlfriend." He whispers.
"Alright Superman. Since I'm so terrible, you can run the errands with him tomorrow."
"Sounds easy enough." His effortless shrug makes me scoff.
"You have to get the right jars of baby food, the correct size diapers and clothing, change his diaper no matter where you are, get food and cleaning supplies for the house, bring him to his checkup on time and also, you gotta wear one of those baby harnesses on your chest so he can see you at all times."
Taehyung's lips press back awkwardly, not really thrilled at the list of criteria.
I place a hand on his shoulder, "I'm kidding. I'll be there with you, obviously."
"I knew that." He chuckles with relief.
Finally noticing what I'm wearing, Taehyung's eyes fall to my cleavage and he bites his lip, his attention trailing down my body before he tugs on my towel with a tilted head.
"Take this off."
"What?" I choke.
"You can't stand in front of me like that and not expect me to have thoughts." He nudges his chin with a smirk, resting his hand on my ass. "Get back in that shower."
"Uh, I just took one." I smack his hand away and turn around, but he catches my wrist and twirls me. "Liii..." He whines cutely.
Pulling my body close, he nuzzles his nose against my skin ticklishly. I only laugh while trying to resist. "Tae no!"
It's been so long since somebody made me laugh this time of night, or blush like there's no tomorrow. Taehyung only met his son hours ago and yet little Taesun has already brought out the child of a man who just served a prison sentence... This moment really is precious to me.
I ramble on lazily, "Tae I'm tired, the baby's in here, I'm wearing granny draws—"
"But it's been 16 monthsss~" He sings like an old jazz singer, his eyes shut and head thrown back.
I scoff more laughter and swat him playfully before leaning down to peck his lips.
"When I'm more energetic. I promise."
"Alright." He directs all focus to my lips, "I'll hold off for 12 more hours. That's all you're getting though."
"12 hours? With a baby living here now?" I raise my brows at his confidence and pinch his cheek.
"You have so much to learn about parenthood."
With our faces this close, we get distracted by the depth in each other's eyes and fall into the inevitable temptation of a kiss. Our eyes close and lips brush in perfect sync...
"WAHHHHH!!"
"Oh shit." Taehyung accidentally spilled milk on Taesun's face. He quickly sits straight and wipes his son's face delicately with his shirt. "Sorry Lil Tae. That was mommy's fault."
I roll my eyes when returning to the bathroom with Taehyung shushing and bouncing the baby behind me. He sings a sweet lullaby that soon puts him to sleep.
Sometime later, I step back out in Satin pyjamas and join Taehyung in bed now that Taesun is fast asleep in his crib.
Despite the small dome of light in the room, Taehyung's perfect features sit before me in the shadow of his bangs, his eyes devouring mine like a tiger and fingers brushing the loose strands of hair from my face.
"...Even more beautiful than I remember." Air leaves his nose when he smiles.
His eyes are so close they appear cross-eyed, and voice is so raspy. I wrap an arm around him and pin a leg over his waist as we exchange another heartfelt kiss.
His hand runs down my back slowly before making a stop at my rear. He holds me so close, it's like he's worried that I'll slip away...
I seal our kiss with one last peck and grin at his lips, then his eyes.
"Even more handsome than I remember."
His cheeks seem to chub up before he twists himself to turn off the lamp, sending the room to utter darkness. "Goodnight Li."
Of course... I whisper the words back with guilt playing on my features. My body cocoons in Taehyung's warm embrace and I frown against his chest as I feel him drift to slumber.
How am I going to tell him...
How can I tell him that my parents are trying to get our only child taken away?
