The trail of police cars follow Taehyung's every move. His eyes dart back and forth between the window and rear mirror, veins protruding from the backs of his hands that clutch the wheel.
"THIS IS THE POLICE! PULL OVER NOW!"
"Like hell." He tips the acceleration even further. The tires make a loud screech when we drift around a tight corner, escaping the close range of most cop cars, although two still follow.
"T-Too fast!" is all I manage to exclaim. My hands clutch the handle that hangs from the car roof, not being able to strap on a seatbelt with my wrists chained together and hair blowing in my face. The last time we speeded like this, we nearly died. I think I'm gonna be sick...
Just then, a police car reels up beside Taehyung's window and starts slamming into us.
"PULL OVER RIGHT NOW!"
Taehyung grunts at the harsh jerks of the car before looking straight and spotting a road split up ahead. With a harsh turn of the wheel, he swerves right at the last second, allowing the police car to crash into the point in between.
My mouth falls agape. I keep my head still, too fearful to look back at the damage.
We finally lose them, but I can still hear sirens in the near distance. Before I know it, we're slowly pulling into a parking lot.
"What are you doing?! They're still behind us!"
"Get out."
"What?!"
He hops out of the car without further explanation, so I cluelessly do the same. The parking lot is filled with many vehicles but Taehyung hurries over to one in particular. A regular looking grey Kia with a scratched out number plate. He quickly pulls out a set of car keys and unlocks it. "Get in! Quick!"
The rhythm of sirens gets concernedly louder. It sounds like more cops have recruited. I immediately climb into the car before Taehyung exits out the opposite gate.
My heart spins and bangs like a drum as we drive past the police so calmly. They don't even recognize us...
Taehyung pulls over into the nearest private spot once we're at a safe distance. Parking behind a random building, we both let our chests sink relievingly as we catch our breath, silence filling the car from roof to floor.
"ARE YOU INSANE?!!" I scream abruptly. Taehyung flinches.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU'VE JUST STARTED? LIKE— AT ALL?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE?!"
"WELL WHAT DID YOU WANT ME TO DO— LET YOU ROT IN PRISON FOR SOMETHING I DID?!"
The anger in his tone sends crippling shivers down my spine. My face muscles loosen and before I know it, my eyes are filled with tears.
His expression softens. With a tilted head, he rubs my arm and speaks softly. "...Babe why are you crying?"
I just bawl out more tears, my cracked voice trying to repair itself to execute a sentence.
"...Because this is the first time I've seen you in over two months and we're yelling at each other..."
Taehyung's eyes droop at the sound of my cries. His hand rests at the back of my head before I'm buried in his warm chest and a gentle kiss is placed on my forehead. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean it. Everything's gonna be ok."
My fists curl his shirt until my nails are digging into my own palms. It's been so long since I've been in his arms... so long. I forgot how heavenly his touch could feel, the velvetiness of his voice... His scent... I missed it so fucking much. It's subtle, but to me, it's the most overwhelming smell ever.
More tears of mine bawl into his shirt. My teeth grit as I cry, "Please... never let me be alone like that again..."
I thought I was handling prison pretty well, but being back outside in Taehyung's arms makes me realize what a hell I was living in. And that I never want to go back.
"I won't... I promise." He softly releases me and kisses my head again before starting the car. His hand doesn't let go of mine the rest of the journey.
Sometime later, we arrive at a low-key neighborhood with only a few homes. When we get out I see a small ramp of stairs going down, leading to a door. There's a small caged window that slopes it's ceiling.
Taehyung leads me down and unlocks the door with a key. I enter after him and rotate my head around the interior.
I wander around the small but cozy room. There's a bed, no fancy headboard, but a plump mattress on the floor that's opposite the TV on a white table, video games and a gaming console underneath. Across the room is a tiny kitchen and next to that, a bathroom door. Above the bed is the small window I saw outside that reveals the star-lit night sky, acting as the room's main light source as it shines grids on the sheets.
"I know it's small, but it's just temporary until the cops leave. I have somewhere for us to move to first thing tomorrow morning, so this'll have to do for tonight."
I nod while Taehyung heads to the kitchen. Clashing metal rackets when he opens the drawer and a seconds later he returns with a screwdriver in-hand before sitting on the bed with spread legs. "Come."
I obey and stand between his legs, holding out my wrists. He takes them in his hands and begins to unscrew the handcuffs.
I remain mute, looking around the small and quiet room. I can't believe this is real. I can't believe that all just happened. I'm still so shaken up after everything. What if I get caught? What if we get caught... Surely they'll have to find us eventually. And when they do, what will happen?
Taehyung looks at me before looking back down at my hands and removing one of the cuffs. He then starts on the other.
"You know... I didn't do this for nothing." He says, making he turn to him. He looks up at me and grins with a tilted head.
"You think I don't know I'll get into trouble for this? I know the cops are gonna be on my ass, just like how I know that Carmine's men are scraping through the streets looking for me as we speak... But I couldn't leave you in there. I love you Li. As irresponsible as it may sound you're all that I care about. You said your worst fear is loneliness... Well now I'm here. And as long as I'm here you have no reason to be scared."
The second handcuff breaks off. Taehyung sees the paranoia in my face and rolls up his sleeve, reminding me of his tattoo of Margo.
"Trust me, okay?"
I show a small smile which only expands his. Taehyung's slips his hands around my waist and pulls me closer, gently caressing my hips. I feel my chin being pinched and pulled forward as our faces slowly close in, heads tilt and eyes flutter shut—
*WeeeeEEEE!*
I jump at the sound of the police siren that passes by. Taehyung smiles softly and cups my cheek.
"It's okay... You're safe. We're safe."

His hand ribbons from my cheek down to my neck, and then to my shoulder. His eyes look me up and down as he gets a feel of my skin and finally, entices me with his lips.
With his collar clutched in my fists, I feel his other hand meet at the button of my pants before the material is slipping down my legs. He slowly throws his back on the mattress so that I'm craned over him. His lips don't break away from mine as he unbuckles his belt and I roll my shirt over my head.
With my stomach on full display, he holds my waist and admires the sight.
"I missed you."
He kisses my cleavage.
"Every inch of you."
His voice is rich and buttery, like sweet cream. I lower myself and reconnect our lips to get a taste while his hands roam my skin. Our kisses are slow and gentle, working into what we had missed for two months. Taehyung moves back on the bed until he's laid out and I'm straddled over his waist, a soft groan escapes his lips.
My hair springs free from it's ponytail cage and messily spreads over my shoulders when I yank my hair band. My palms then ground his chest. Another siren wails and drives by, it's blinking lights filling the dark room completely. We both look up at the window and grin shamelessly.
I take a moment to admire Taehyung's face and stripped body beneath me, his fluffy hair messily spread along the pillows while red and blue lights flash across his face nonstop. The parade of police sirens in the background become a casual tune as we kiss and touch.
Tonight... Tonight, we make up for those two months that were lost. Nice and slow.
