chapter two: trip to europe

2 months later...

Peter walked inside a classroom, gripping the strap of his backpack. He noticed the laughter and chitchat among his classmates. The teacher hasn't arrived yet, so he was relieved that he wasn't late.

Peter settled down next to Ned and set his backpack down. He glanced around, and he spotted you right away. He watched you as you grinned and listened while Betty Brant was telling a story.

"Nothing's going to happen if you keep on staring at her, you loser." Michelle said with a bored face, her face resting on her fist. "Ever since we came back, you just kept on staring at her."

Peter frowned and tore his eyes off you. He looked at Michelle and took a deep breath. "I know. It's just that she looks so familiar, like I've seen her before."

Ned shook his head in disappointment. He patted Peter's shoulder. "Dude, don't you remember? That's (Y/n). (Y/n) Stark. The so-called next heiress of the Stark Industries?"

It's been two months since Tony's death. Peter started attending school again a week after Tony's death, and he's been noticing you. All he knows is that you weren't one of the victims who were snapped out of existence.

'How come I didn't see her at the funeral?' Peter thought to himself. 'She must have been far away from me so I didn't had the chance to see her.'

Most people don't recognize you immediately as Tony's daughter. Not only because your mother wasn't known to the world that she had a fling and had a baby with Tony Stark, but because you mostly got your mother's features instead of your father's.

After he blinked twice, Peter's eyes widened in genuine surprise. "Wait what?"

"Did she really change a lot? You couldn't even recognize her." Michelle laughed.

Peter looked back at you again. "I just... never saw her, that's all."

Though he hasn't personally encountered you, Peter has heard of you. He had read news articles about Tony Stark's infamous daughter, who had shocked everyone. When Tony was first perceived as a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist, people didn't think he would become a parent, much less have a daughter. Peter didn't try to find out more information about you or even take a closer look at your appearance.

This was the first time he ever saw you.

You push a strand of hair away from your face and put it behind your ear. Peter went insane internally when he saw the smile on your face and lost all sense of what his proper emotions should have been. You gave him a warm and welcoming smile before looking away.

Peter turned away to look at his two smirking friends, blushing without realizing it. "What?" He asked, becoming shy all of a sudden.

"Oh, Peter..." Ned's teasing smirk grew wider. "Let me guess, you're crushing hard on her, huh?"

After raising an eyebrow in shock, Peter scoffed and shook his head. "What? Me? Come on, Ned. I'm not having feelings for her. It's wrong..."

"What's so wrong about that?" Michelle asked.

"I... don't know?" Peter replied unsurely. "She's Mr. Stark's daughter?"

Michelle and Ned blinked their eyes at Peter in disbelief. "It's not like you can expect Tony Stark to come back to life and attack you for having feelings for his daughter."

"You don't know that..."

"Peter, you're overthinking things." Ned chuckled while letting out a sigh. "It's not a big deal."

With his eyebrows furrowed, Peter pushed out his bottom lip into a pout. "Yeah, sure. Crushing on a billionaire's daughter is not a big deal," He said sarcastically.

Ned shrugged. "It is a big deal when you're finally dating her," He stated, causing Peter to blush all the way to his ears.

"And you should do something about it before Brad gets her," Michelle warned as she looked down at her book, flipping some pages.

Peter cocked his eyebrow at her confusingly, frowning. "I thought Brad has a thing for you?"

Michelle shook her head, not looking up. "Not anymore. He stopped because I don't like him. He likes (Y/n) now."

"Besides, Brad and (Y/n) had been friends since they were little, right?" Ned said. "Damn, Brad's lucky. Imagine playing hide and seek with a billionaire when you were a kid."

Brad was approaching you when Peter turned to look at him. Peter felt saddened when Brad gave you a charming smile. "Great." He grumbled under his breath.

6 months later...

You looked at the small television and watched a poorly edited video in tribute to the fallen Avengers, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, and Vision. It shifts to show Midtown School's news show with Betty and Jason Ionello. "Gone. But not forgotten."

Jason pointed up, and then a picture of two boys appeared. "Thanks to Kenneth Laymour and Ian Reymor for their help with that touching video tribute."

Betty sighed. "This year has been nothing short of-"

A beep blocked out what Jason said and interrupted Betty. "Crazy. It's like insane."

Betty glared at Jason. "Jason."

Jason looked at her confusingly. "What?"

"No swearing," Betty whispered.

Jason shrugged. "Yeah, it's like the last day of school; we're good."

Betty shook her head and faced the camera again. "Historic. Over five years ago, half of all life in the universe, including our own Midtown High, was wiped from existence. But then eight months ago, a band of brave heroes brought us back. They called it the Blip. Those of us who blipped away came back the same age. But our classmates that didn't blip grew five years older."

Then they showed a picture of Brad Davis, your friend, as an example. "Yeah, like my little brother is now older than me," Jason said.

"Yeah, it's math," Betty said with a tone. Jason made a face. "And even though we had blipped away halfway through the school year and had already taken midterms, the school made us start the whole year over from the beginning."

"Totally unfair. It's not right."

"Tigers," A roar sound was played. "It's been a long, dramatic, somewhat confusing road. As we draw this year to a close, it's time to move on to a new phase of our lives."

"Pray nothing crazy happens again because is the Avengers even a thing anymore? Does anyone even have a plan?!" Jason was freaking out.

With a sigh, you went into a classroom. You started walking in Michelle's direction. Peter took a seat across from Ned. He finally admitted to himself that he had fallen in love with you and wanted to ask you out in Europe after fighting his feelings for you for a few months.

"I have a plan," Peter said enthusiastically while glancing at you. "Okay, first, I sit next to (Y/n) on the flight."

Ned nodded. "Mhm."

"Second, I'm gonna buy a dual headphone adapter and watch movies with her the whole time," Peter added.

Ned nodded again. "Okay."

Peter smiled. "Three, while we go to Venice... Venice is super famous for making stuff out of glass, right?"

Ned nodded again. "True."

"So, I'm gonna buy her a lily necklace, because her favorite flower is the lily, because of, well..."

"Her second name," Ned responded.

Peter nodded. "Her second name." He repeated. "Four, when we go to Paris, I'm gonna take her to the top of the Eiffel Tower, give her the necklace..."

Ned raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Oh!"

"And then five, I'm gonna tell her how I feel..." Peter gulped. "And then six, hopefully, she tells me she feels the same way."

Peter was about to write down his plan until Ned stopped him. "Oh! Don't forget step seven."

Peter started to think. "Step seven..."

Ned shook his head. "Don't do any of that."

Peter looked up, confused, and gave his best friend a look. "Why?"

"Because we're gonna be bachelors in Europe, Peter!"

Peter sighed. "Ned." He tried to reason with him, but Ned cuts his sentence off.

"Look, I may not know much, but I do know one thing: Europeans love Americans." Ned reasoned.

Peter gave him another look. "Really?"

Ned nodded and grinned. "And more than half of them are women!"

Peter blinked twice at him. "Okay, sure, but... I really like (Y/n), man. Okay? She's awesome, she's funny in a sort of dork way, and sometimes I catch her looking at me, and I feel stood up..." Peter looked up and saw you and Michelle walking towards them. "Wait, dude, she's coming now. Just don't say anything."

"What's up, dorks?" Michelle asked. "Excited about the science trip?"

Peter nodded. "Hey, uh, yeah. We're just talking about the trip."

Ned nodded as well. "Yeah, and Peter's plan."

Your eyebrows raised in surprise and a smile formed on your lips as you looked at Peter. "You have a plan?"

It was during the previous few months that you and Peter became friends. As you two have feelings for one another but don't admit to one another and are unaware of it, it was a little awkward for you both.

Peter shook his head. "I don't have a plan."

"No, he's just going to collect tiny spoons while we're traveling to other countries." Ned winked at Peter.

You furrowed your eyebrows together in confusion while Michelle raised a brow. "Like a grandmother?"

Peter shook his head again; this time he was even more nervous. "I'm not collecting tiny spoons," He denied, and then pointed at Ned. "He's collecting tiny spoons."

"Oh." You chuckled. "Okay, well, that was a real roller coaster."

Peter nodded shyly. "Mhm..."

"By the way, travel tip: You should probably download a VPN on your phone, just so that the government can't track you while we're abroad," Michelle advised with a brief smile.

Peter smiled. "Smart. Will do."

You waved at Ned and Peter goodbye before leaving with Michelle. "What was that about?" You whispered to Michelle with a chuckle.

Michelle shrugged. "Just two guys being dorks about spoons."

Ned grinned as he looked at Peter. "Dude, I think that went really great!"

Peter looked at him in disbelief.
