ARABELLA HAD REALIZED HOW MUCH HER AND KIMI HAD IN COMMON. she was lying in her canopy bed, just thinking about all that had happened since they had arrived in the maldives.

what they most had in common, was their love for dancing. as cringe as it sounded, after their little performance on the beach, they'd danced together every night.

smiles could never be wiped off of their faces when they were together, just swaying to the music. it was like she was looking into a mirror when she looked at him.

she really hadn't planned on liking a boy during their two month stay in the maldives, she really hadn't. but she couldn't help it. oh, who am i kidding? i'm already a little in love with him.

she sighed at the realization, scolding herself for being stupid enough to get wooed by a summer fling. after we leave the maldives, he's just never going to talk to me anymore.

she felt stupid. so freaking stupid. i need to call dad.

calling 'papa🤍'...

her father picked up, it only taking a few rings. "papa, i am stupid." she confessed, tears filling her eyes. "what's wrong, hija?" her father replied, sounding worried, but also very sleepy.

she sniffled before answering, "i told you about kimi right? the boy i'm with here." she asked, she heard a hum from the other side of the phone and took it as a sign to continue her story.

"i think i'm falling in love with him papa, it's so dumb." she said, the tears now starting to roll down her face. "it's not dumb, bella. you can't help how you feel. tell me though, why are you in love with him?" her father asked, sounding interested.

"i don't even know... okay, i lied. i do know." she sighed before continuing, "he's just my type, papa. i've told you, he's italian, he has that perfect italian accent that you also have. wait, that sounded wrong." she let out a broken chuckle as her father laughed, "tell me more."

"he holds every door open for me, never lets me pay for anything, he took me on a beach picnic, hello? and he has these curls that are just perfect. i'm literally obsessed with him papa, it's bad. i'm so cooked." she almost cried out, making her father chuckle again.

"and he calls me 'bellie' and 'dolcezza'. papa, i swear, i'm becoming unhinged." she finally finished, sighing again at her own antics. "yeah, you're definitely falling for him, mi hija. and as i've told you, that doesn't have to be a bad thing. from what you've told me, i think he's in the same boat as you." niccolo comforted as best he could.

"you think he's falling for me as well? you're insane. he definitely just wants a fun summer fling." she denied quickly, "why do you shut that idea down immediately, bells? you don't know how he feels." her father tried to convince her.

"it's just not possible." she stated, tears still streaming. "why not, bella?" niccolo asked, wanting to know why his daughter was so adamant on denying hers —and the boys— feelings.

"i don't want him to be. i don't want him to love me. good things don't last forever, and frankly i'm scared of loving anyone again." she answered finally, the tears now coming down like waterfalls as she sniffled.

"you can't let pedro ruin every chance of love for you. what happened with him was not your fault, it was his. i still want to kill the boy, but you can't let it control you. pedro is in the past, kimi is now... and he has done nothing but be good to you. give it a chance, hija. i think you'll regret it more down the line if you don't do it. kimi seems like a nice boy, don't throw that away just because you're scared." her dad almost sounded pleading as he said the last sentence.

"what would you have me do, papa?" she said quietly, tears still flowing. "confess, cariña. tell him how you feel." arabella could hear the sweet smile in her fathers voice. it had convinced her. what do i have to loose? if he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. if yes, then i get my sweet italian boy.

"alright, you've convinced me." she giggled, wiping her tears away. "i'll tell him soon." she stated, as her father cheered from the other side of the line, "oh my god, i didn't think it'd work!" he laughed.

"i'll leave you alone now, bye dad!" she giggled, "update me! te quiero, mi hija!" niccolo said. "i will. te mucho quiero, papa."
