ARABELLA SIGHED AS SHE PUT HER PHONE DOWN. what her brothers had said had actually hurt her a lot. she understood that it came out of protectiveness, but how they had worded it, it was just mean. she was so thankful for her father.

"what's wrong, love?" kimi's voice sounded from beside her, she had almost forgotten he was there. "nothing, antonio and matteo are just being insufferable." arabella dismissed, not wanting him to worry.

kimi seemed interested though, "what did they say?" he asked, now fully turning his body to face hers. they were both laying on their sides in bella's canopy bed, him in only his underwear and her in his shirt and panties. the morning after, clearly.

"i'll show you." she relented, seeing no real point in keeping it from him. she picked her phone back up and gave it to him after she had pulled up the texts. kimi scrolled through the texts, and she could see his facial expressions change with every message.

once he was done, he gave the phone back. "they don't know anything about us, bellie. we'll make it work, like you said." he comforted, making arabella smile weakly. "i know. that's not what i was upset about. it's the way they treated it, like i can't think for myself. just because of what happened with my ex." arabella's tone changed as she spoke the last sentence.

the boy reached out with his right arm, pushing a hair strand away from her face, "what happened with him then? only if you're ready to tell me, of course."

"it's a long story, but i guess we have time." she started. with a big sigh she continued, "his name was pedro. the guy from the tiktok you saw that one time in the bathroom. i guess he was an asshole from the beginning, i was just in denial. he was new in school because he got kicked out of his old one, in hindsight, it was obvious why. we were really toxic, if i hung out with my friends instead of with him, he'd send me snaps of him with other girls. lucy and linnie really hated him— with good reason!" she chuckled a bit before speaking again,

"only like, two months into our relationship, he had cheated on me numerous times because i didn't want to have sex with him. matteo and antonio beat the shit out of him at school, it was not pretty. tonio said it was because he called me a slut right in their faces, i don't know if it's true though, wouldn't surprise me if they just did it because they wanted to." she finished, again with a chuckle at remembering her older brothers fight with her ex.

bella looked him in the eyes for the first time since starting her story. kimi stayed quiet for a few seconds before speaking, "just because you didn't want to have sex with him?" he seemed in disbelief, "i mean, you told me it was your first time but i didn't think it through that much. i didn't force you into it, did i?" he rushed out, making arabella's eyebrows shoot up.

"no! no, i wanted to. i really wanted to. don't worry about that kimi. i wouldn't have done it if i wasn't absolutely sure. plus, i was fourteen when pedro tried to get me to fuck him, i was really young. you really don't need to worry." she comforted as kimi's facial features visibly relaxed again.

without another word, he pulled her into him, his arms around her waist. she put her arms around his neck as she shifted to lay on top of him fully. she put her head down on his chest and she could hear his heart beating. "i'm sorry that happened to you, dolcezza." he murmured into her hair.

bella smiled as she lifted her head up a bit to look at him. "it's okay. i'm fine now. i mean, i'm in the maldives with my best friends and i have you. i have nothing to complain about at all."
