(Y/N), Noah and Kris all sit silently within the hospitals waiting room, the two brothers on either side of the women.

Noah looks up, uneasy, before leaning over his friend to talk to his brother. "Okay, what are the rules?" He asks, and grins a little when (Y/N) rests her head against his shoulder and looks over at Chris.

His brother sighs before looking at the two.

"Bros before hoes."

Both adults turn to him with raised brows, but (Y/N) holds up her hand and gives him a little high five at his joke. Noah shakes his head, and Kris tries again. "Don't be a problem, don't go looking for a problem."

"Or else?" (Y/N) says, and both brothers nod their heads.

"Or else we're gonna have a problem."

"That's my boy." She praises, and wraps her arm around the boys head and brings him in for a hug. Noah watches with a small smile as his brother laughs, and grabs his friends hand with a grateful nod.

"Thank you for being here." He says, nodding his head to show that he really meant it. (Y/N) returns the smile, before letting go of his hand and looking around. "What is taking so long?" She whispers, making sure that Kris couldn't hear her.

Noah sighs softly, and pats her leg before getting up. "You two wait here, I'll be right back." The two nod, and are left alone while they watch him leave out the door.

(Y/N) looks down at Kris and notes that his leg was pacing up and down, most likely from the nerves. She bites her lip and digs into the bag, before bringing out his gameboy and offering it to him.

"You wanna show me how to beat Bowser?"

...

Noah quickly makes his way out the room, but not before locking eyes with the minestrator behind the office desks. The women quickly exits the waiting room and watches as the he tries to slip past her and into the hallway.

"Mr Diaz?" She questions, and Noah turns around, a little frantic. "Hey, I-I know we're a little behind on the bill-"

"Three months behind." She corrects, and crosses her arms over her chest while she stares at Noah

The two stay silent for a moment longer before the minestrator unfolds her arms and sighs. "Until your account is correct you can't bring your brother here, I've told you that."

Noah nods his head, trying his best not to blow a fuse. "I'm gonna fix it, I just need a little more time." He pleads, but the women shakes her head. "You can always take him to the ER."

"Yeah but they won't see him in the ER unless he's critical."

"Mr Diaz-"

"He's eleven!" Noah yells slightly, and glances behind her when he sees (Y/N) pop her head out at the noise. "He's eleven years old." He says one last time, to which the women merely shakes her head again.

Noah clicks his tongue before pushing past her and making his way towards his best friend. (Y/N) notes his frustration and sets a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, what's wrong-?" She stops when he grabs her arms and sighs, before dropping it and walking towards his brother.

Quickly Noah bends down and grabs Kris' bag and helps his brother pack all his belongings away. "What happened?" Kris asks, and he only shakes his head.

"I'll tell you later, come on."

...

The three of them make their way towards a large office building, with (Y/N) holding Kris' hand tightly in her own while also trying to get her friend to talk to her.

"Noah!" She yells. "Can you just tell me what's wrong?" She stops quickly when he spins around and faces her.

His breathing was heavy before he sucks in a deep breath. "..don't worry about it, okay?" He mumbles, and grips his friends shoulders firmly.

"We'll get through this.." he says sternly, and (Y/N) nods, a little skeptical but decides not to question it.

Noah rubs her arm before letting go and watching as she tugs Kris to sit down with her near a long bench. He nods at the two of them, and quickly walks towards the office. "Don't move!"

...

Making his way towards the reception, Noah straightens his jacket when the man looks up at him and raises a brow. "Can I help you?"

Noah nods. "Uh, yeah I'm here for an interview with the head of security, Mr Bishop? Noah Diaz" He says softly, and watches as the receptionist shakes his head. "It's been canceled."

Noah frowns. "That has to be a mistake." The man only shakes his head and lets him look at the paper. "Came right from Mr Bishop."

The young man takes a moment to think, but stops when he sees the man, Bishop, exit an elevator. Noah runs around the desk and jogs to him. "Mr Bishop!" He calls, and moves around as the receptionist tries to restrain him.

Bishop only groans when he sees him , and waves the man away. "It's okay walker."

"It's me, Noah Diaz? I think your boy back there is confused he said our meeting is canceled?" Noah says, to which the man nods. "Because it is."

Noah quickly follows after him when he turns around. "Wait, why? On the phone you said I was perfect for the job! You said this was just a formality?" He questions.

Bishop nods along with what he's saying. "It was until your old commanding officer called me back, said you were brave. An expert com tech, but unreliable, couldn't trust ya." Noah rolls his eyes as he listens. "Your head was always somewhere else."

"Sir, I can explain all that I had some responsibilities at home!" He tries to get him to listen as they turn a corner. "My brother, h-he's si-!"

He's cut off, Bishop not once turning his head to meet his eyes. "You had responsibilities to the United States Army." Noah grunts before dashing infront of him and stopping him from walking any farther.

"Mr Bishop, sir." The older of the two finally meets his eyes. "I'm a hard worker, okay? I just..I just really need a break." The man dosnet seem to listen, when all he does is look Noah up and down before speaking.

"I can't have, someone like you, mess up what I've built."

Noah falters at the sentence, and stares at him. "Someone like me?"

Bishop turns and walks away, but not before Noah yells out to him. "Hey you don't know anything about me!" He steps on to an escalator, not caring to turn around and speak to him properly.

"I know that you can't be part of a team." And with his final say, he walks away, leaving Noah to watch him in disbelief, having not even been given a chance to prove that he was more than what that man said he was.

...

The three sit side by side on the Subway, with (Y/N) in the middle once again with both boys leaning against her shoulders. She had her arm wrapped securely around Kris, while her other was clutched tightly in Noah's hand, resting on his lap.

"Hey, look." The younger of them starts, and angles his head to look at his brother. "Superman went on a bunch of interviews before he got his job on the Daily Planet." (Y/N) feels Noah push his face into her shoulder before sitting up and leaning forward.

"Man he never gave up-" Kris gets cut off quickly by his brother, voice laced with annoyance. "I'm not Superman Kris." Noah spits, "Life ain't a comic book."

The women decides to stay quiet and allow the two to talk as she leans back and closes her eyes. "I'm just saying, you'll get the next one." She feels herself smile as she listens.

Noah only shakes his head and looks to his brother. "There is no next one, no ones coming to save us, we're alone in this." Kris' eyes drop as he listens to his brother, and he leans back and pushes his face into (Y/N)'s side.

Noah watches him do this, and sighs before leaning back and resting the side of his head against his friends. "Hey man, I'm sorry." He apologizes softly, but Kris dosnet move.

"It's alright." The boy says, his voice muffled by (Y/N)'s shirt. His brother shakes his head and leans his arm over to hold his. "No it's not..none of this is.."

The three of them stay quiet, eyes glazed over and tired form the day as they listen to the train begin to slow down. Noah lifts his head and taps his friends thigh, and (Y/N) turns her head in his direction. "You know what? Come on."

He gets up, and his friend and brother follow in confusion.

...

"Okay bro." Noah reaches his hand into his pocket and fishes out his house keys before tossing them to his brother. "Head upstairs, we'll be right there alright?"

Kris watches as Noah grabs his friends hand and walks to the opposite end of the street, before complying and beginning to make his way to his home.

"What are we doing?" (Y/N) asks as she grabs her friends arm with her other hand, but Noah doesn't reply when he greets Reek with a handshake on the side of the street.

"So what were you talking about earlier?"
