"𝐑𝐀𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐃, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍."
Raegan sighed, the memory of her arrest repeating in her mind over and over. She looked around at the grey walls of her dull cell, drawing figures on the ground. She leaned her head against the wall, as she pulled her knees closer to her chest. She pulled a necklace out of her pocket, glad that the guards hadn't caught it yet.
"Happy eighteenth fucking birthday to me." Raegan muttered softly before shutting her eyes.
Today was the day she was going to be floated. Of course, there was always the review, which meant that the Council would review the crime committed by a juvenile offender on their eighteenth birthday and decide if they would be floated or not. Raegan was sure that the Council would never even consider exonerating her, her fire having burned through one month's oxygen supply before it was contained.
Raegan would be allowed to see her dad for one last time before being escorted to an airlock and getting ejected into space. It would take fifteen seconds for her to die. Fifteen seconds of agony and pain, while her body froze and her lungs expelled any air left.
At the sound of her cell opening, Raegan put the necklace back in her pocket before slowly getting up from the ground, eying the two guards warily.
"Prisoner two–five–two, face the wall."
Raegan rolled her eyes but complied nonetheless, knowing that even if she fought, nothing would change. She would still be floated and Mason Shepherd would be truly alone.
"Hold out your right arm."
Raegan stuck out her right arm and hissed as they put a wristband which had spikes on the inside on her arm, the spikes digging through her skin. She frowned as she was dragged out of the door and was met with the sight of the other ninety-nine prisoners in Lockup being treated the same way she was.
"What the fuck is happening? This isn't how it's supposed to go. I'm supposed to get reviewed right now." Raegan began struggling against the grip of the guards, before she was electrocuted by a shocklash baton.
The electricity flooding Raegan's nervous system disoriented her and allowed the guards to escort her to a dropship without any fight. She looked around as the rest of the prisoners walked in a straight line, every one of their faces etched with panic and confusion.
Raegan walked into the ship and climbed the ladder, after looking back at the people behind her. She took a steadying breath and walked around the ship, cursing under her breath when she couldn't find an isolated seat.
She walked to the section where not many prisoners were, and strapped herself in, before closing her eyes and leaning her head against her seat. When she opened her eyes, the dropship was nearly filled with the prisoners.
Raegan looked around at the other prisoners next to her. She raised her brow in slight amusement when she saw Wells Jaha, the son of the Chancellor who locked them all up, two seats on her right.
In the middle of the two was an unconscious girl who Raegan recognized as Clarke Griffin, the daughter of the head doctor of the Ark and head engineer of the Ark.
The dropship launched and Raegan looked around to see if anyone had any idea of where they were going when Wells cleared his throat.
"We're headed to Earth." He answered, his eyes flicking up to meet Raegan's before looking back down at the blonde girl between them.
Raegan smirked spitefully. "And how would you know that?"
Wells didn't reply to Raegan's question when he noticed that Clarke was stirring awake. Raegan rolled her eyes at his antics before tuning their conversation out and closing her eyes, everything that had happened resulting in a splitting headache for her.
A crash caused Raegan to snap her eyes open as the other prisoners let out shouts of surprise. She quickly turned her head towards the two people next to her who had stopped their meaningless argument.
"Either of you know what the fuck that was?" Raegan asked, holding the gaze of the two.
"What was that?" Clarke questioned, her voice laced with worry and panic.
"That," Wells paused, as if for dramatic effect. "Was the atmosphere."
Suddenly, the dropship lights and the screen turned on, and started to play a recording of the Chancellor.
"Prisoners of The Ark, hear me now. You've been given a second chance, and as your Chancellor, it is my hope that you see this as not just a chance for you, but a chance for all of us, indeed for mankind itself. We have no idea what is waiting for you down there. If the odds of survival were better, we would've sent others. Frankly, we're sending you because your crimes have made you expendable."
"Your dad's a dick Wells." One of the prisoners yelled, earning a chuckle from most of the prisoners, Raegan included.
"Those crimes will be forgiven, your records wiped clean."
"More like we're gonna be punished no matter what. Either the radiation will kill us or we will be arrested once the Ark comes down." Raegan muttered under her breath before letting out a dry chuckle.
Wells glared at Raegan angrily to which she replied with an even more steely glare. Both of them held each other's stares stubbornly before Wells looked away, causing Raegan to smirk in triumph.
"The drop site has been chosen carefully. Before the last war, Mount Weather was a military base built within a mountain. It was to be stocked with enough nonperishables to sustain three hundred people for up to two years."
"Go, Finn!" Someone explained to the person who had removed his seat belt and was floating towards Clarke, Raegan, and Wells. "Spacewalk bandit strikes again."
"Yeah." Raegan scoffed. "Go die cause that's exactly what's going to happen, dumbass."
"Whoo!" A girl cheered, putting her fist in the air.
"You should strap in before the parachutes deploy." Wells said to the Spacewalker with a stony expression.
"Hey, you two, stay put if you want to live." Clarke said to the other two boys who were removing their straps.
Raegan rolled her eyes at the boy's stupids antics and as well as at the two people who began removing their safety straps, in an effort to follow Finn's example.
"Mount Weather is life. You must locate those supplies immediately."
"Hey, you're the traitor who's been in solitary for a year." Finn said to Clarke before turning his gaze to Raegan. "And you're the daughter of a mass murderer and the person who set a part of the Ark on fire."
Raegan's look of annoyance swiftly turned into a steely glare which made Finn turn his head back to Clarke.
"You're the idiot who wasted a month of oxygen on an illegal spacewalk." Clarke retorted.
"But it was fun." Finn replied. "I'm Finn."
"Your one responsibility is 'stay alive'."
"Stay in your seats!" Clarke yelled, her words directed at the two boys who had finished removing their safety straps.
Finn and the two other boys who had removed their safety straps were thrown across the dropship as soon as the parachutes deployed. Raegan looked at the bodies as they were thrown across the dropship and closed her eyes. She took deep breaths and tried to get the image out of her mind.
Oh god. Not now. She couldn't lose her grip on reality now. Raegan fought the urge to cover her ears in an effort to block all the noises out to keep herself sane. She opened her eyes as the dropship started shaking. She could see Clarke and Wells talking, but her brain wasn't processing anything that wasn't the sound of people screaming and the noise.
She noticed that everybody looked worried and watched as electrical sparks landed on people, who screamed in pain. Bile rose up her throat as people started shouting and screaming, and she fought the urge to vomit. Raegan heard a crash and was thrown forward, the safety straps cutting into her skin, and hit her head on her seat as she was thrown back.
Raegan took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Her ears had stopped buzzing and her brain didn't feel as though it was on fire. She let out a sigh of relief as she heard the ship power down.
"Listen. No machine hum."
"Wow. That's a first."
Raegan smiled as she took another stabilizing breath, the urge to vomit finally gone. She removed the straps of her seat and stood up, finally glad to be out of the seat and able to freely breathe without the straps suffocating her.
Raegan began walking towards the two boys who had been violently thrown across the dropship and onto the ground when the parachutes deployed.
"Are they alive?" Raegan asked Clarke and Finn, the both of them shaking their heads, with Finn's face holding guilt.
"The outer doors are on the lower level. Let's go."
Those words had caused everyone to start walking towards the lower level, while Clarke looked up in horror and stood up.
"We can't just open the doors." Clarke objected as she ran towards the crowd.
Raegan gave the two dead boys one last glance before following her. She climbed down the ladder when she saw a guard pushing people back. Her eyes narrowed at the guard when he looked in her direction, remembering exactly who he was.
"Fucking hell. This feels like one nightmare after the other." Raegan muttered, recalling the guard who had arrested her. Oh, she swore that she'd get her revenge whenever she got the chance, although she never expected that to happen on Earth.
She didn't pay attention to the conversation between Clarke and the guard, whose name she remembered to be Bellamy, although she heard snippets of it such as the guard's illegal little sister, Octavia, and how she was hidden under the floor.
Clarke put a hand on her shoulder, which she immediately shrugged off.
"You ok?" Clarke asked, to which Raegan nodded stiffly, still watching Bellamy with narrowed eyes as he whispered something in his little sister's ear and opened the doors.
Raegan blinked to adjust to the brightness of the sun. When her eyes did, she saw a lot of green in the trees, the grass and leaves. She took a deep breath of the sweet, real air that wasn't on the Ark.
"Octavia slowly stepped onto the ground, grunting softly as she did so, before she threw her arms into the air in excitement.
"We're back bitches!" She exclaimed loudly.
Raegan's lips turned up in a small smile as she stepped onto the ground, watching the other delinquents as they cheered in excitement and began exploring the area. Her smile soon fell off as she caught Bellamy Blake's gaze, replacing it with a steely glare.
She noticed Clarke Griffin walking to the edge of the cliff and staring off into the distance, and after looking back at the delinquents, began to follow the blonde. She watched as Finn approached Clarke, before joining the two herself.
"Why so serious, Princess?" Finn asked as Raegan walked up to the two. "It's not like we died in a fiery explosion."
"Try telling that to the two guys who tried to follow you out of their seats." Clarke retorted.
"You don't like being called Princess, do you, Princess?" Finn questioned with a smirk on his face.
Raegan let out a small snicker. "Of course, you ask if she hates a nickname while calling her that same nickname." Her words had caused Clarke and Finn to look at her in surprise before Clarke smiled slightly at Raegan's statement. She quickly dropped the smile before turning back to face the large mountain in the distance.
"Do you see that peak over there?" Clarke asked the two.
"Yeah, I do." Raegan replied.
"Yeah." Finn said as he nodded his head.
"Mount Weather. There's a radiation-soaked forest between us and our next meal. They dropped us off at the wrong damn mountain." Clarke stated bitterly.
"Raegan scoffed in disbelief before shaking her head. "Of course they did."
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Raegan leaned against the dropship, not remotely interested in whatever was going on between Clarke Griffin and Wells Jaha. She watched as a boy with goggles, who she remembered as Jasper from their required Earth Skills class a few days prior, approached the two.
"Ah, cool, a map. They got a bar in this town? I'll buy you a beer." Jasper said with a smile, awkwardly looking from Raegan to smiling at Clarke.
Wells rolled his eyes in annoyance before grabbing Jasper's arm and pushing him away. "You mind?"
"Whoa." Jasper looked down at his arm as his expression changed to one of confusion and pain.
"Hey, hey, hey, hands off of him. He's with us."
At the sound of the vaguely familiar voice, Raeagn glanced at the delinquent with a small army behind him before rolling her eyes. John Murphy, another guy from Earth Skills, and also known as the guy who set a guard's quarters on fire.
Arson was a crime that not many people had the guts to commit, Raegan being one of the first people in over 50 years to do so, so obviously she remembered the name of the guy who pathetically tried to copy her crime.
Wells put his hands up lightly before turning to face Murphy. "Relax. We're just trying to figure out where we are."
"We're on the ground. That not good enough for you?" At the sound of Bellamy Blake's voice, Raegan rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"We need to find Mount Weather. You heard my father's message. That has to be our first priority." Wells replied as he walked towards Bellamy, followed by Clarke, Murphy, and his tiny army of followers.
Raegan groaned softly before heaving herself away from the dropship and walking in the direction of the Blake siblings.
"Screw your father. What, you think you're in charge here, you and your little Princess?" Octaviva questioned, her voice bitter as she looked Wells and Clarke up and down.
"Do you think we care who's in charge? We need to get to Mount Weather not because the Chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get and the harder this'll be. How long do you think we'll last without those supplies? We're looking at a twenty-mile trek, okay? So if we want to get there before dark, we need to leave now." Clarke declared, her words logical and her tone determined.
Raegan looked at Clarke with a raised brow, clearly impressed with her speech. I think I have a crush on her. Raegan forced her thoughts down, but as her eyes trailed over Clarke again, she couldn't help but let the thoughts intrude.
"I got a better idea. You two go, find it for us. Let the privileged do the hard work for a change." Bellamy said to the delinquents, a smirk painting his face.
"Yeah." Most of the delinquents chorused, agreeing with Bellamy's words.
"I'm sorry. You must be dumb and not understand English. She said that we all need to go. Not one of us. Not two of us. All of us." Raegan stated angrily, her words like acid.
Both Blake siblings glared at her and another delinquent, whose name Raegan remembered to be as Dax, walked up to her.
"Why should we listen to you? You're just a murderer's daughter." Dax taunted.
Raegan's jaw clenched as she turned around to look at Dax. "What'd you just call me?"
He smirked as he leaned closer into Raegan's personal space. "Murderer's daughter."
Raegan sucked in a breath before turning back around. However, at the sound of Dax's laughter, she swiftly swung her fist at his face, hearing a sickening crack as her fist collided with his nose.
Dax groaned in pain as he clutched his nose and attempted to stop the blood. He looked Raegan up and down before turning away from her, although not before calling her a 'crazy bitch' under his breath.
Raegan lunged at him again, ready to strike him down, only to be held back by Clarke. Raegan shook off Clarke's grip on her shoulder, and settled with glaring at Dax, before turning back to the matter at hand.
"You're not listening. We all need to go." Wells stated as the attention returned from Raegan to the matter of the journey to Mount. Weather.
"Look at this, everybody — The Chancellor of Earth." Murphy mocked as he pushed Wells with a smirk on his face.
"Think that's funny?" Wells questioned as other delinquents laughed at Murphy's words.
Murphy didn't reply and instead kicked Wells' ankle, sending the Chancellor's son to the ground.
"Wells." Clarke muttered in worry as she tried to walk towards her friend, only to be held back by a delinquent.
"Yeah, Come on. Get him!"
Raegan rolled her eyes at the delinquent who said those words, as she carefully watched the situation in front of her unfold.
"No, but that was." Murphy replied as he watched Wells get back on his feet, although with a limp, and assume a fighting stance. "All right."
"What you gonna do now, Wells?"
Raegan watched as Murphy gestured for Wells to attack him, all while maintaining an arrogant look. She heard the crowd groan as Finn jumped from the dropship and landed between Murphy and Wells.
"Kid's got one leg. How about you wait until it's a fair fight?" Finn stated as he held his ground against Murphy, who looked him up and down before walking away.
"Hey, Spacewalker." Octavia called out as she walked towards Finn. "Rescue me next." Her words had caused everyone but Raegan to let out a laugh before everyone started to disperse.
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Raegan watched as Clarke took a look at Wells' ankle, deciding to hang around awkwardly near the duo instead of having to interact with the other delinquents.
"So Mount Weather." Finn said to Clarke as he walked towards the duo, stopping when he stood next to Raegan. "When do we leave?"
"Right now." Clarke replied before she turned to face Wells. "We'll be back tomorrow with food."
"How are the two of you going to carry enough food for a hundred?" Wells questioned.
Raegan coughed, causing the three people to turn and look at her. "Three of us. I cannot stay a minute longer with those imbeciles."
Clarke shrugged, understanding that Raegan clearly wasn't a fan of most people who were in the dropship.
Finn turned around and grabbed two boys, one of them Jasper and the other one being Jasper's friend, by the name of Monty. "Five of us. Can we go now?"
"Octavia walked up to the group with a smile. "Sounds like a party. Make it six."
Bellamy walked up behind her before grabbing her arm. "Hey, what the hell are you doing?"
"Going for a walk." Octavia replied, her expression one of annoyance.
Raegan simply scoffed at the interaction between the two siblings, causing Bellamy to glare at her.
"I'm sorry, have I done something to you?" Bellamy asked in annoyance.
Raegan looked at the man in disbelief before shaking her head. "Besides arrest me you mean? No. I just don't like family drama."
"Hey, were you trying to take this off?" Clarke asked as she grabbed Finn's wristband.
"Yeah. So?" Finn questioned, his tone uncaring.
"So, this wristband transmits your vital signs to the Ark." Clarke said as she let go of Finn's arm. "Take it off, and they'll think you're dead."
"Should I care?" Finn asked.
"Well, I don't know. Do you want the people you love to think you're dead? Do you want them to follow you down here in two months? Because they won't if they think we are dying." Clarke replied, causing Finn to look down. "Ok. Now let's go."
That was the confirmation Raegan needed. She began walking in the direction Clarke had gestured to, with the rest of the group a couple paces behind her. She watched as the guys in the group caught up to her. She slowed down her pace in an effort to be between the guys and Octavia and Clarke.
"Before you get any ideas, Finn is mine." Raegan overheard Octavia say to Clarke.
"Before you get any ideas, I don't care." Clarke replied in annoyance.
"Raegan scoffed internally before rolling her eyes. Please. Who in their right mind would be interested in him?
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Raegan wasn't sure how she got stuck with Finn, Octavia, Jasper, and Monty, but she sure as hell knew she wasn't going to enjoy being forced into their conversations. She watched as Finn put a flower in Octavia's hair before rolling her eyes at his obvious flirting.
"Now, that, my friend, is game." Jasper whispered to Monty and Raegan, who shot him a look of annoyance.
"That, my friend, is poison sumac." Monty retorted as they continued their trek.
Octavia shook the flower out of her hair before rubbing her hands down on her pants. "What? It is?"
"The flowers aren't poisonous. They're medicinal, calming actually." Monty elaborated as he put one in his mouth.
"Then why is it called poison sumac?" Raegan asked, getting a chuckle from Monty. "That makes the least amount of sense. And how do you know that?"
"His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark." Jasper explained.
Raegan nodded, showing that she understood, though she still looked at the flower in Monty's hand with apprehension.
"Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?" Clarke called out.
"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn questioned as he gestured to their surroundings.
"Well, it's simple. I wonder, 'Why haven't we seen any animals?' Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. Sure is pretty though. Come on." Clarke replied before walking away.
Raegan groaned in annoyance at Clarke's words. "She's really pessimistic isn't she?"
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac." Octavua whispered, leading to the guys looking at her in amusement as Raegan shook her head at the joke, before they all followed Clarke.
"I gotta know what you two did to get busted." Finn said to Jasper and Monty, the two exchanging a look between themselves.
"Sumac's not the only herb in the garden, if you know what I mean." Monty replied with a small smile.
Raegan sighed when she realized what they were talking about. "Weed? Are you joking?"
"Not this time, no." Monty replied, causing Raegan to scoff softly. He frowned slightly before quickening his pace to walk side by side with her. "What happened to you? You don't seem like the kind of person who gets annoyed at everything."
Raegan was thankful that Jasper had brought the conversation back to their arrest, saving her from having to answer.
"Someone forgot to replace what we took." Jasper muttered, although his tone indicated that he was teasing Monty.
"Someone's apologized, like, a thousand times." Monty fired back.
"What about you, Octavia? What'd they get you for?" Jasper questioned.
"Being born." Octavia replied bitterly as she ran to where Clarke had stopped.
"That is so not game." Monty replied as he hit Jasper with his hand lightly, who hit him back. He looked at Raegan before raising a brow. "What about you, Raegan?"
Seeing the gaze of all three guys on her, she rolled her eyes before responding. "Arson. Would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for Bellamy Blake." She didn't turn around to look at their expressions, almost scared to see what they thought of her, and instead ran over to where Clarke and Octavia were.
She kneeled down next to Clarke and a small smile spread across her face as she saw a deer feeding on the grass. She heard the other three guys crouch down near her, still keeping her gaze on the deer in wonder.
"No animals, huh?" Finn whispered before taking a step towards the deer, only to step on a twig. The twig cracked, which caused the deer to face the group.
Raegan gasped in horror when she saw the deer having two heads, much like the others, all of them reeling from shock as the deer lept away.
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
"Hey you know what I'd like to know?" Finn questioned as they made their way down a hill. "Why send us down today after ninety-seven years? What changed?"
"Who cares? I'm just glad they did. I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." Octavia replied as she spun around a tree and smiled at Finn who ignored her. Raegan pressed her lips together at the interaction which Monty caught.
"So she does smile." Monty stated as he ignored the glare Raegan shot him.
Raegan sighed as she thought about Finn's words. "I think that is the question of the day. Maybe they found something on a satellite."
Monty nodded, following her train of thought. "Yeah, you know, like an old weather satellite or — "
"It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying." Clarke's words cut him off, causing everyone to turn and face her in shock. "At the current population level, there is roughly three months left of life support, maybe four now that we're gone."
"So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?" Finn questioned.
"My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw." Clarke explained. "He thought that the people had a right to know. The Council disagreed. My mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic. We were gonna go public anyway, when Wells — "
"What? Turned in your dad?" Monty questioned as he exchanged glances with Jasper.
"Anyway, the Guard showed up before we could. That's why today. That's why it was worth the risk. Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time." Clarke's words had caused Raegan to reach into her pocket, where she had kept the necklace her father had given her on her sixteenth birthday.
She pulled it out, looking at the initials engraved onto the necklace. R.S. Raegan Shephard. She was pulled out of her thoughts as Monty's words brought her back to reality.
"They're going to kill more people, aren't they?" Monty questioned.
"Good. After what they did to me, I say, float them all." Octavia replied as she continued on ahead of the group.
"You don't mean that." Jasper said as he ran after her.
"I think she does." Raegan muttered as Finn and Clarke whispered with one another.
"They continued walking only to stop when Clarke collided with Jasper, who was staring at Octavia.
"What the hell is going on, Jordan?" Raegan asked as she pushed herself to the front, unable to see anything with Finn and Jasper blocking her view.
"Oh, damn. I love Earth." Jasper said as he let out a laugh.
"Raegan pressed her lips together in amusement as she watched Octavia take off her pants. She chuckled softly, causing everyone to turn their heads to face her in shock. "You can't say that's not funny, cause honestly, this made my day."
"Octavia, what the hell are you doing?" Clarke yelled. Octavia looked at her and jumped off the cliff and into the water. The entire group ran towards the edge and saw most of Octavia's body and face in the water.
"Octavia, we can't swim." Monty reminded her.
"I know, but we can stand." Octavia replied as she giggled before standing up.
"Wait. There's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke said as she looked around in confusion.
"Well, there is. So take off your damn clothes." Finn replied, causing Clarke to smile.
Raegan watched as the others began taking off their jackets before she put her necklace back on. Monty raised an eyebrow at her to which she rolled her eyes.
"I'm not going in the water. Just don't feel like it." Raegan explained to which Monty nodded in understanding.
"Octavia, get out of the water! Get out of the water now!" Jasper yelled out as everyone looked at the ripple in the water.
"Fucking hell." Raegan muttered as the ripple started to get bigger and moved towards Octavia at a frightening speed.
Octavia let out a scream as the creature pulled her under the water. Jasper yelled out her name as Octavia struggled before she went under the water and the ripples and bubbles stopped.
Raegan stood frozen in horror as she watched the water with wary eyes. Suddenly, Octavia came back up, her arms flailing around and screams ripping through her throat, as the creature dragged her around in the water.
"What the hell is that? We have to help her. What are you gonna do?" Monty questioned as Finn took off his jacket.
"Try not to get eaten." Finn replied before Clarke stopped him.
"No. Wait. If we distract it, it might let her go." Clarke replied as she knelt down near large rocks, before glancing up at the others. "Help me."
"Raegan knelt down next to her as the two grunted before they were able to push one of the boulders into the water. Finn, Monty, and Jasper joined them and began pushing more of the rocks into the water. The creature moved towards the rocks, leaving Octavia in the water.
"She can't get to shore." Raegan called out at the sight of Octavia struggling to keep her head above water. Jasper jumped into the water and grabbed onto Octavia when Raegan saw the creature head back in the direction of the two.
"It's coming back!" Finn yelled. "It's headed right for you guys!"
Jasper pulled Octavia onto the shore as Raegan and the others ran towards them. Raeagn stood back in horror as Clarke ripped a piece of cloth from Jasper's shirt to bandage Octavia's leg, while Octavia pulled Jasper into a hug and thanked him.
"Note to self — next time save the girl." Monty said, leading to everyone laughing at his statement, while Raegan played with her sleeves as she watched everyone from where she had sat down.
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
Raegan had her eyes closed as she leaned against a tree in a failed attempt to sleep. Her eyes shot open at the rustling next to her, only to be met with the sight of Monty sitting next to her.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" Monty apologized as Raegan turned to face him.
"No, I wasn't sleeping in the first place." Raegan replied as she played with the necklace around her neck.
"Raegan." Monty called out softly as Raegan hummed in reply. "Why'd you commit arson?"
"Ever heard of tact, Green?" Raegan replied before sighing softly. "I get very mad very easily, and my dad got fired. I guess I just lashed out. Although I guess it was for nothing, because he got his job back not even a week after I got arrested."
"You know, you aren't as bad as some people say." Monty replied, causing Raegan to shoot him a look.
"I guess you've heard horror stories about me." Raegan muttered softly.
"Not just horror stories. I had an apprenticeship in Engineering, and Sinclair, Shepherd, Ashford all have only good things to say about you." Monty replied with a smile.
"Raegan turned to him in shock. "You know my dad and Myra?"
Monty nodded softly. "Yeah I do. And they only have good things to say about you."
.: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
"Finn! You need to hurry up! The river needs to be crossed today, not when we're all sixty!" Raegan yelled, although Finn ignored her and kept pulling on the vines.
"You wanted to go first. Now quit stalling." Clarke called out. "Mount Weather awaits."
"Just hang on till the Apogee, and you'll be fine." Jasper whispered.
"The Apogee like the Indians, right?" Finn questioned with a smirk.
"Apogee, not Apache." Jasper corrected, while looking at Finn as if he was crazy.
Raegan groaned before rolling her eyes. "Jordan, he's just trying to get under your skin. Don't let him."
"He knows. Today, Finn." Clarke stated, giving Finn a look.
"Aye, aye, captain." Finn replied while saluting Clarke before turning to face Jasper. "See you on the other side."
"Wait." Jasper said, causing Finn to let go of the vines and turn to face Jasper. "Let me. I can do it."
"Knew there was a badass in there somewhere." Finn said as he handed Jasper the vine, causing him to laugh nervously. "Hey, it's okay to be afraid, Jasper. The trick is not fighting it."
"See you on the other side." Jasper said to the group with a laugh. He pulled on the vine and swung across the river, cheering as he did so. He let go of the vine and landed on shore of the other side of the river, before he threw his hands up into the air.
"We are Apogee!" Jasper yelled loudly, his words causing the rest of the group to cheer in excitement.
"You did it Jasper!" Clarke yelled.
"Let's go, Princess. You're up." Finn said as he handed Clarke the vine and she took it with a small smile.
"Come on Clarke! You got this! Whoo! Apogee!" Jasper yelled.
Raegan watched Jasper cheer and a small smile spread across her face as she watched Jasper look proud of himself. He bent down and picked up a sign, which he lifted into the air. Raegan read the words on it and her smile grew. Mount Weather.
"We did it! Mount Weather! Whoo! Whoo!" Jasper exclaimed happily.
As the group began to cheer in excitement, a spear came out of the trees and hit Jasper in the chest. The impact threw him back and blood started to soak his shirt.
"Jasper! Jasper!" Clarke screamed.
"Come on! Come on! Come on! Jasper!" Monty yelled for his best friend.
Monty pulled both Raegan and Octavia back behind a large rock formation while Finn pulled Clarke behind the rock formation. The entire group scanned the trees to see if they could find who or what attacked Jasper.
"We are not alone." Clarke said fearfully, her eyes wide with worry.
