Character Synopsis:
Derek Matthew Hale was tired of losing the people he cared about.

First, it was his girlfriend when she was attacked by an alpha at their high school. Then, it was his mother (who was pregnant with his unborn little sister), his grandparents, and the rest of the pack in the fire that Kimberly Argent started.

Since then, Derek hides his feelings behind his tough exterior and acts like he's better than everybody, wanting them to praised or admired him when in reality, he's hiding all the grief he's felt and the determination to protect the ones he secretly cares about in hopes of never losing them again.

But then one day, the sound of a howl— a howl that belongs to a certain type of shapeshifter— brings him, his brother, and his father to New York City where he has a reunion with his uncle and his two newly cousins.

But what Derek didn't realize was that from the moment that he met one of his cousins, Henry Hart, everything was about to change as he'd find himself joining a new pack.

Before the house fire, David and Derek had a natural father-son bond but after the house fire since his father was determined to make the Argents suffer for what they did and since at the time his father is the alpha, Derek is forced to go along with his father's plans whenever he agrees or not.

However, even though Derek will eventually join his cousin's pack, the father-son relationship between the two will be forged without Derek being forced to obey his father's orders since David does care about his son and wants whats best for him.

Clarissa Hale - deceased biological mother. As a child, Derek was very close with his mother as he was a bit of a "Mama's Boy" around her. Unfortunately, when she passed away in the house fire, Derek is devastated by her passing as he misses her everyday.

Scott Michael Hale - biological youngest brother. Growing up, Derek did tend to pick on Scott every now or the two would always be seen wrestling with the other, trying to prove which one of them was stronger than the other, which occasionally only made them get into arguments.

It wasn't till after their mother's passing did both Derek and Scott grow closer as the two were there to help each other throughout their grief.

Daniel Hale - biological uncle from his father's side. At first glance, Derek is enemies with his uncle due to being on his father's side, as David is the alpha of the pack he's in. However, when Derek witnesses his cousin's pack and how much they care about the other, Derek will be reminded of when times were much simpler (back from before the house fire took away his mother and grandparents) and eventually, he will find himself joining his cousin's pack, which will bring him to being on friendlier terms with his uncle.

Henry Prudence Hart - biological cousin from his father's side. At first, both Henry and Derek are enemies due to the fact that Derek is trying to help his father kill Henry in order to make sure that his cousin doesn't take away his father's power before his father gets his revenge on the Argents. However, after multiple events where Derek and Henry are forced to team up together, the two will find themselves growing a natural bond as cousins.

Natalie Blair Black - biological youngest cousin. At first, both Natalie and Derek are enemies due to the fact that they are in opposite packs. However, after multiple events where Natalie and the rest of the pack are forced to team up with Derek (and Scott), both Derek and Natalie will find themselves growing a natural bond as cousins.

Physical Appearance:
Derek is a tall, teenage boy with a lean, muscular build. He has blonde hair that is slightly curly, hazel-brown eyes, and is often seen wearing designer jeans, a white v-neck shirt, a black leather jacket over his shirt, and boots.

Personality:
Derek is known to be a bit arrogant, stubborn, and cocky, which causes him to have a bit of a problem with being able to admit responsibilities for his mistakes or misdeeds. One of the things that Derek has in common with his father is that he enjoys feeling powerful as every now and then, he does tend to use his abilities to dominate his enemies.

He has a habit of believing that he is better than everyone as he constantly wants to be praised or admired— this also causes him to have a small problem with authority figures, like Henry and Leonardo when he and Scott joins the pack. Due to this, Derek will gain the habit of trying to undermine either Henry or Leonardo in front of the others, trying to make it look like he's better than them in general, which only ends in him looking like a idiot or into trouble.

Although, the only authority figure that Derek doesn't try to undermine is Eclipse Hamato [OC owned by GeekyCookie1 since his wolf sees her as the pack's Luna/Female Alpha as she and his cousin are together. Though, really, it's because out of all of them, Eclipse Hamato [OC owned by GeekyCookie1] scares him the most when she is angry so, he usually tries to stay on her good side.

However, Derek is also a compassionate and selfless person at times even if he tries to hide it and refuses to admit it. He can also be a blunt and honest person with a bit of a sarcastic side to him as well as the fact that he also has a small impulsive side to him. Despite those traits, Derek is known to be an incredibly loyal person and is willing to put himself in harm's ways if it means to protect the ones he cares about.

• Wolf Physiology - Due to being a shapeshifter, Derek has super strength, speed, agility/reflexes, durability, senses, healing, and shapeshifting.

• Super Strength - This ability is common in all shapeshifters. However, he is not at the same level as Henry, Natalie, or his father.

• Super Senses - Due to his supernatural heritage, Derek's senses; smell, hearing, eyesight, taste, and touch have all been heightened. However, his hearing is extremely sensitive to loud sounds.

His Weaknesses:
• Electricity - It can weaken or kill him depending on the voltage.

• Wolfsbane - It can weaken or kill him depending on the potency, strain, and method of exposure. However, in order for all shapeshifters to get the Wolfsbane out of their system before it can do any damage, it must be burned out of their system.

• Full Moon - This would've been from when he was younger but now that he is older, the full moon no longer affects him as Derek has full control over himself and his wolf form. However, this does not apply to the lunar eclipse during the period where the moon is in the Earth's umbral shadow, which causes all shapeshifters to lose their powers, including their super strength, healing, and shapeshifting ability.
