( MEDUSA JOUVELLES )

.。*゚+.*.。𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐘 were being shot at the jouvelle children from every direction they looked, even some people who despised their parents sent them somewhat sorry glances. they weren't that surprised, that's what they expected when they heard the news that the world found out about their mothers death.

penelope's hand enveloped dominic's tightly as she led her youngest sibling through all of the families trying to keep up with her oldest brother and medusa who didn't even bother listening to her brothers instructions wanting to be as far away from the prying eyes as possible.

medusa jouvelle was done with all the sympathy looks she had been receiving over the past two months. her parents were gone and there was nothing anyone could do to change that. and what made it all worse was that one of them had  the choice to leave.

"dusa!" her brothers voice finally reached her ears as she snapped back into her senses, her glare being sent to him not noticing the angered look he had painted across his face. noah jouvelles had always been very controlling over his siblings and always needed to make sure that they listened. him now being the oldest of their whole family meant he had a duty to protect his siblings with his life.

"spit it out then you rat, i want to get on the train" she spat with strong distaste in her tone, it wasn't meant to hurt her brother the way she spoke to him but the flash of hurt that crossed his face made her feel slightly guilty for a second before her hard demeanor took over again.

"can you just listen, don't give away any clues about where we're staying to anyone. alright?" he said as he lowered himself down so he was near her ears, his voice holding a strong sense of urgency. one wrong move from any of them and the moment they return home christmas time they could all be dead.

"how many times do i have to tell you that i'm not an idiot" she growled back at him as she stepped away, ready to get away from his constant nagging and just fall asleep in one of the carriages.

"and how many times do i have to tell you i'm doing this for our protection" noah had never wanted to have this much responsibility placed upon him, the boy was still a child himself, still having two more years of school left and here he was expected to take care of three kids. it was not how he imagined his life.

"how about we both calm down?" the voice of reason broke through the thick tension which continued to grow between the brother and sister, penelope placing a had of comfort on noah's shoulder making the older boy relax in his sisters grip.

penelope may have been a year younger than noah but it didn't mean that the girl wasn't just as mature. learning from a young age that she was going to be the one to teach her siblings sympathy and kindness forced her to grow up faster than other kids. it was either that or let them grow up to be extremely unpleasant people like their parents.

medusa didn't say anything to her sister, instead just letting her grey eyes meet the blue ones that were exact replicas of their mothers before turning and leaving them standing on the platform. penelope knew that the death of their mother hit medusa harder than any of them and didn't know if she'd be able to be there to support her the way she needed, but knew all she could do was try to stop the hatred from taking over. medusa had never really been good at handling her emotions. well everything except hate.

𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 had been told by his disgrace of a mother, bellatrix, to keep a close eye on the jouvelles and find out where they had been hiding out. the boy was usually one to always listen to his mother and follow her commands, reminding himself everyday that she was all he had besides from medusa.

there were usually never times the boy went against his mothers wishes but he knew sometimes it was for the best. a perfect example being ratting out the jouvelles. never in a million years would he think of leading the siblings right into voldemorts hands, especially after the close connection he had formed with medusa. the two being opposite sides of the same penny. they always seemed to find comfort in the others bruised arms.

"you have me in such a chokehold you know" the boy whispered down into her ear as he stroked her dirty blonde hair, her head rested comfortably in his lap. the compartment they sat in was silent except for the soft breaths that left their lips.

"it's because you love me" the love between them could've been considered romantic at times, that was obvious to even the most clueless of minds. but the majority of the time it was strictly platonic. platonic not being a word strong enough to describe it in their opinion. it was completely overwhelming to anyone that wasn't them, it could suffocate everyone in the room if they walked in at the wrong moment.

"not saying i don't" he chuckled deeply as he threw his head back to lean on the seat. it was amazing how much they had changed since their second year, although not unexpected as they were two of the oldest in their year. added onto their mature mindsets no one would guess they were only fourteen. but that is what trauma usually did to a person.

"you should go and change into your robes" the boy suggested as he stopped stroking her hair, feeling her body tense for a second at the loss of contact before she lifted her head and then stood up relaxing.

"don't leave" she instructed with a playful grin as she pointed a finger at him, her blood red lipstick outlining her oddly perfect white teeth. a small smile graced icarus' features seeing the girl smile, a sight he had missed out.

it wasn't that she didn't smile a lot, she did a lot of that when with icarus and her siblings. although after her mothers death and her fathers abandonment it was quite rare that her siblings saw her, let alone saw her smile. the majority of hogwarts could bet 1000 galleons that the girl didn't know how to smile, the whole three years of being there she had never let anyone she didn't trust see her smile.

"when have i ever left you?" he asked knowing it was a question she didn't need to answer, him having stuck by her side since their first day at the school. her stomach erupting into butterflies at his words, the things he said always having a strong affect on her.

the atmosphere of the train was dark and depressing, she could feel the dread entering her body the moment she left the carriage. the green scenery not even catching her eyes as she made her way down the train past all of the carriages to the closest toilet. her scowl being planted on her face once again after glancing for a split second into a carriage seeing the golden trio.

and to make it worse the train suddenly stopped. a wave of coldness hitting her making her shiver slightly as she wrapped her leather jacket around her torso tightly. heads peeking out to see what the issue was. she knew this feeling all too well, the feeling of having nothing to live for, no hope. but a dementor had not made her feel that way, instead, it had been her father.

hurrying to lock herself in the closest bathroom not wanting to run into one she kept her eyes trained to the floor, hearing whispers of worry surround her from students of all years. a body suddenly collided with her own causing her to stumble back regaining her balance quick.

"watch i-" the sickly familiar voice of draco malfoy met her ears, him cutting himself off once seeing who it was. draco and medusa had been acquainted since their first year, not liking eachother but not hating eachother completely. she had to tolerate the boy because of him being icarus' cousin.

"malfoy" medusa said with a straight face as she raised an eyebrow waiting for him to get out of her way, not in the mood for their daily squabble. not seeing the boys black dress shoes leave her line of sight she looked up to see him with a troubled look on his pretty face.

he looked about ready to die before he quickly grabbed the girls wrist pulling her into the closest toilet, his hand immediately slapping to cover her mouth knowing the profanities that were about to leave her lips. draco had wished to be as far away as possible from medusa after seeing the animalistic look in her eyes.

she was most definitely going to hurt him badly if not just kill him.

she didn't have time to shout at the boy as the entire mood of the room changed, the lights above them flickering and the train shaking making her stumble before his hands grabbed her arms to keep her still. she could tell there must've been a dementor outside of the toilet which was why he dragged her in.

the few small minutes they were in there she let her brain process the fact that the boy had also changed in the two month holiday. he was nearly as tall as icarus and he had lost his baby fat now being more to the lean side. his hair nearly the exact same platinum blonde as icarus'.

"jouvelles" draco's voice entered her ears, a look of confusion planted on the boys face as he stared at her. it was then that she came back to her senses realising the lights were fully back on and the train had started moving again. the feeling of dread not completely having left her body but being less overwhelming than a few minutes ago.

she suddenly made as move to create as much distance as possible between them, making sure to shrug his hands off of her. a scowl attaching itself to the boys lips at her sudden attitude. he had convinced himself that he had gotten used to her little outbursts over the few years but each time it happened it reminded him he was far from it.

"get out" her voice was sudden and full of nothing but dislike towards the boy, he didn't need to do anything to get her blood boiling and the fact that she could still remember the feeling of his hands on her arms burning into her skin angered her.

his tone was harsh and abrupt but it wasn't like she wasn't used to it by now "i was leaving now anyways, not like i enjoy your presence" and then he was gone. and the door slamming in her face didn't even make the girl flinch, a hard eye roll which would surely give her a headache later instead replacing the need to react.

draco malfoy would surely be the reason the girl ended up killing somebody someday. and she just hoped that the person would be him.

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 had only ever brought joy to medusa once, and that was the previous year when her younger brother dominic was sorted into slytherin. it wasn't that much of a surprise considering all of his siblings had been sorted into slytherin aswell.

the only reason she hadn't stormed up to that bloody hat and demand it hurry up was icarus' strong arm around her waist keeping her seated. he felt her squirm for a split second as professor mcgonagalls eyes met hers. she hoped that noah had lied to the school and told them they were staying with relatives or something, not in the mood to be called into dumbeldore's office.

after the final student had been sorted, dumbeldore took stand "i'm pleased to welcome professor r.j lupin... who's kindly consented to fill the post... of defense against the dark arts teacher"

all eyes shooting to the brown haired, scarred man. he must've had more scars than noah, and that was saying something. alexandre jouvelles was not a stranger to torturing his children with curses and hexes, and they all had the bruises and cuts to prove it. as well as the emotional damage. noah however had been the main punching bag, offering to take the hexes and curses for his siblings on numerous occasions.

stacks and piles of food appeared before all of the children and professors, the first years piling their plates greedily as they cautiously watched the ghosts. the older years not even bothering for the antics of the spirits knowing how they worked.

the annoyingly smug voice of draco malfoy hit medusa's ears from a few seats down as he leaned over to the gryffindors most probably trying to get a reaction out of the boy who lived "potter. is it true you fainted?" he snickered with his dull-headed goons "i mean, you actually fainted"

medusa had every right to hex the boy right there, he was acting as though his heart wasn't quicker than light when he was crammed in that toilet with her. but she'd rather not have everyone know that draco malfoy saved her from a dementor.

"shove off, malfoy" ronald weasley's defensive voice spat pulling harry back around. she was glad that the agenda against malfoy wasn't just between her but also the golden trio. she may not have liked them but found herself tolerating them whenever they messed with the spoiled little boy.

the girls eyes trailed over all of the slytherins seeing her older brother sat near the end surrounded by his friends who she had no interest of getting acquainted with. penelope with her bestfriend cedric diggory and his friends who usually fawned over her on the hufflepuff table, it was honestly a surprise she got sorted into slytherin. and her youngest brother at the opposite end surrounded by young girls giving him googly eyes who he completely ignored, instead staring across the hall at luna lovegood.

and then finally over to icarus. her rock. the person who kept her stable and stopped her from tipping. it was bad how much she relied on the boy, convinced that if she lost him that she'd eventually lose it and end up committing a genocide. it scared her to her core whenever she thought of losing him but with the world they lived in, it would not come as a complete shock that he could die at any given second.

"what's on your mind, love?" his british accent soothed her nerves as his dark green eyes met her icy grey ones, a quick shiver shook his body as the hairs on the back of his neck rose. her eyes always having that affect on him, he always felt as though he was standing in the freezing snow wearing nothing but his underwear when looking into her eyes.

she raised an eyebrow before doing a quick scan of the hall, a glower gracing her lips "just thinking about how shit this year is going to be" she spat before a small smile graced the boys lips at her thinking.

"always the optimist aren't you" he chuckled sarcastically before she pushed his head away from hers with an eye roll, the smallest hint of a smile reaching the edge of lips before it disappeared and she focused back on her food.

medusa jouvelles could confirm one thing for certain this year. she would not let hogwarts see her crumble. the loss of her parents not even being enough to break the girl. or so she hoped.
