β THIS, IS THE END," Sam said into the camera, holding it in his hands he stands a bit in front of Colby and Jasper who are stood on either side of him, perfect framing for the video and perhaps even a thumbnail, no one would know that behind Sam's back, Colby and Jasper held hands.
"We're all packed and ready to go," Sam continued, glancing around the living room before looking into the camera once more, "and this place has been strangely quiet since the bonfire,"
"I don't know if what we did actually freed the spirits and allowed them to move on, hopefully it did," Colby told the camera, "but either way it's time for us to move on."
Jasper nodded his agreement, "First and last time I'm going ghost hunting." He joked making the other two chuckle.
They continued on, Sam setting up the camera for one final shot of each of them saying goodbye to the spirits inside.
Sam went first, clearing his throat he stood by the door, "Thank you for communicating with us and telling your stories, but now we're leaving. You cannot follow us, you cannot hurt us."
Colby repeated much the same, as for safety sake, the duo both preferred to be clear and stern about spirits not following either of them, both of them saying it leaving no room for loopholes. When Jasper had asked about it before, they'd said they'd learned their lesson. Well actually, Colby mentioned something about spirits up their ass and not wanting it to happen again, but you know, same thing.
Finally, it was Jasper's turn. He stood by the door, alone, Sam and Colby having stepped outside, for a cinematic take of each of them saying goodbye and closing the door behind them each time, but it also meant Jasper could be alone during this. Well, alone with a camera recording video that millions would see.
At first, Jasper's goodbye began much the same as the others, "Thank you for sharing your stories but it's time for me to leave now. You cannot follow me, you cannot hurt me." He glanced around, "Thank you, Julian. I'll tell grams hi for you." He smiled before heading out the door, closing it behind him.
On the porch stood Sam and Colby, Sam checking his phone and Colby leaning against the wall simply waiting.
"Ready to go?" Colby asked as their gazes met.
Jasper nodded and then paused, "There's one last thing I have to do." He said vaguely, "You guys okay to load the car on your own?"
"Yeah, sure," Colby agreed easily but his brows were furrowed in concern, "do you want me to go with you?"
He shook his head, "No, I'll be okay." He paused, "I want to do this on my own."
Colby nodded reluctantly, "Okay just... stay safe."
Jasper smiled reassuringly, "I'll be fine, Bee." He said before helping the duo bring the bags over to the car
Heading off into the woods, he picked various flowers he spotted on his way until he reached his destination. With an albeit small bouquet of wild flowers in his hand, Jasper stood in front of a grave covered in vines, moss and dirt.
Exhaling, he kneeled down, brushing some of the vines away until you could see the name more clearly β Julian Jett.
"Thank you," he whispered as he set the wildflowers down in front of the grave, "for everything."
He sat there for a moment longer, the forest which had previously seemed overbearing and scary, now seemed peaceful.
He hoped where ever Julian was, he was peaceful now too.
He stood up, brushing his jeans off before he walked back to the house, not even glancing at its doors as he steered right past to go to the car Sam and Colby had seemingly just finished loading up, Sam checking the camera to make sure all the footage had recorded properly before they actually left.
"Hey," Colby greeted with a smile, and approached, meeting him about halfway before pulling on the loops of Jasper's jeans and bringing their lips together, "Ready to go?" He asked after pulling away.
Jasper nodded, "yeah, yeah I am." He grinned, "but I might need another kiss first."
"Oh yeah?" Colby chuckled fondly with a grin of his own.
"Mhm," Jasper hummed and pulled him in for another kiss before grabbing his hand and heading for the car, and with Sam already in the drivers seat, Jasper and Colby sat in the back, their knees pressed together and their hands intertwined, consumed in the feeling of each other as Sam started the car, the radio turning on to the local radio station.
As Sam drove, Jasper glanced out the window, watching the house disappear into the rear view, he instinctively moved even closer to Colby, a weight he hadn't even noticed before lifted off his shoulders.
The house had history he didn't want to leave, but his future has just begun. It was time to turn the page on this book, and he didn't feel as nervous about doing so with Colby by his side.
Jasper leaned his head on Colby's shoulder, soothed by the rhythmic feeling of the car rolling down the street, further and further from the house. Eventually, his eyelids fluttered closed, with the weight of the house off his shoulders he could feel the exhaustion from his trip full force, it wasn't long before he fell asleep.

Β Β Β Β WHEN he woke he was back in the house, with one notable difference β he was completely alone this time. No Sam or Colby to save him.
Jasper slipped out from the bed he'd claimed at the start of the trip and made his way out of the room, reaching to flick on the light-switch, he frowned when it didn't work. The house was blanketed in darkness, an eery feeling settled in his bones.
He moved forward despite this. He found that Colby and Sam's rooms were both empty, so he made his way to the end of the hall without a second thought. He found Julian Jett waiting for him around the corner, this time he didn't jump, or waver, simply staring at the man who had his back turned to him as he stared at the window.
After a moment, the man turned but he was different. His eyes no longer a cool blue, but a brighter blue more resembling the eyes Jasper stared at in the mirror β more alive.
Julian tilted his head at the blonde with a smile and spoke, his voice so much like Jasper's, warm and alive, happy, that it sent chills down his back.
"You didn't think I'd leave you now, did you?" He shook his head, "don't you worry about me anymore, Jasper. I'll be just fine. It's time for you to move on and live, 'kay?"
"I'll still be here, watching over ya," Julian smiled, a twinkle in his eyes, "Well, you and your boy."

Β Β Β Β COLBY woke Jasper as they stopped at a coffee shop on their way to the airport, "hey, baby blue," he called softly.
Jasper hummed stretching slightly in the backseat. Unbuckling the seatbelt once he realized the car was parked before wiping the sleep from his eyes. God he hadn't even realized he'd fallen asleep. He glanced around, they weren't at the airport yet.
Looking back at Colby, with a sleepy confused frown, the man explained, "Sam just stopped for coffee, he's inside grabbing our orders," he paused, almost hesitant, "I ordered for you. But we're not far from the airport so I figured you'd want me to wake you."
Jasper nodded, sitting up straighter, "Yeah I didn't mean to fall asleep." He chuckled.
"Well, we've had a long trip," Colby shrugged unbothered and then glanced at the coffee shop they were parked in front of, he could just barely make out Sam, still standing in line waiting to order.
He took a deep breath and looked back at Jasper, "I know it's going to be different when we go back to LA, but... I don't want to hide this, Jay. I don't want to hide us."
Jasper looked up meeting his gaze with a look of surprise, "You mean..."
Colby licked his lips before continuing, "I want everyone to know that I'm your boyfriend, that we're dating. That... that I love you." He smiled and repeated the words, "I love you, Jay."
God damn it, was Colby trying to make him melt in the backseat of the rental car? Seriously?
He felt his heart just about beat out of his chest as he stared at Colby, the words he'd always hoped to hear, dreamed of even, were now real.
He'd almost looked around for a camera, a dash camera, a phone, anything just to see if he could keep a recording of this moment, listen to it over and over again because it sounded so perfect on his lips but then he realized Colby was waiting for a response and looking more anxious by the minute.
"I love you, Colby." Jasper spoke up, "Always have, and I..." he chuckled, "hell, I'd love for everyone to know you're mine," he grinned and pulled the brunette in for a kiss. When he pulled away, his smile was still firmly in place, he didn't think it'd be leaving anytime soon, "Maybe give me a warning before you say something that makes my heart explode hmm?"
Colby laughed, "I'll try." He agreed lightheartedly before pulling him in for another kiss.
"Hello lovebirds," Sam chimed as the car door opened, causing the pair to jump as they'd been so consumed in each other they hadn't even noticed the man approaching. Sam seemed entirely unbothered, holding a drink tray he began handing Colby and Jasper their coffees as if nothing had happened.
Jasper gripped his coffee, his favorite he noted, of course he thought after, Colby had ordered for him and Colby knew him, inside and out. "God I needed this," he groaned happily after the first sip making Colby chuckle fondly as Sam started the car, driving away from the coffee shop, away from their home state of Kansas and back to their home in Los Angeles, back to their future.

Β Β Β WEEKS after they returned to Los Angeles, Jasper sat on the couch beside Colby, eyes reading over the post a few times worried he might not have phrased it right, his knee bounced anxiously.
Beside him Colby sighed and leaned forward, "lemme see." He said outstretching his hand, Jasper placing his phone in his. Colby glanced over the post with a smile, and then looked back at the blonde, "This is perfect, baby blue. Very well worded, quit worrying."
Jasper nodded, his fingers tapping on his now still leg anxiously, "and you're sure you're okay with us being publicly official?"
Colby chuckled, "How many times do I have to tell you, Jay?" He met his gaze, "I will happily shout that I love you from the rooftops, actually, you know what I'm going to," he said and moved to get up but Jasper stopped him with a smile and pulled him back onto the couch beside him.
"It'll be okay, Jay." Colby told him more seriously.
Jasper nodded, "Thank you," he smiled and leaned forward kissing him. When he pulled back, he grabbed his phone and hit post.

as my hiatus comes to an end, I wanted to address what happened prior to my sudden departure.
A picture came out without my consent of me and my ex boyfriend shortly after we broke up. I've always kept my personal life off the internet, this included my sexuality because I was scared of what people would think, and because I wasn't ready.
Though the person who posted the photo took away my choice to come out, I am ready now.
For the record, I'm gay, always have been
If that changes things, feel free to unfollow, block me, whatever. But I'm not changing for anyone, least of all my own anxiety.
