"𝐁𝐘𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐃!" Rebecca said as she opened her front door to walk outside. It was the next day, and Rebecca was meeting Daniel at his apartment so they could ride to school together like they normally do. "I'll see you after school."

"Bye kiddo. Have a good day at school." Dean said as he walked down the hall to get ready for his shift at the auto shop.

Rebecca smiled and closed the door. Grabbing her bike by the garage, she got on and pedaled to the south seas apartments, set her bike by the gate, and walked inside, only to notice, his bike was already gone. "Odd, he was fine yesterday." She thought to herself as she walked up the steps that led to his apartment.

When she reached his apartment, she knocked on the door, and was greeted by Lucille. "Hi Rebecca." she smiled

"Hi Mrs. LaRusso. Is Daniel here? I'm here to ride to school with him." Rebecca smiled

"Sweetie, I told you before to call me Lucille, and I'm sorry, but he went on to school." Lucille said

"Oh, all right. I'll see you later." Rebecca smiled

"Bye sweetie. Have a good day at school." Lucille smiled

"Thank you." Rebecca smiled as she turned to walk away.

Rebecca walked down the steps, and out the gate and got on her bike. She took out her walkman and put in her favorite Stevie Nicks cassette tape as Edge of Seventeen played

After second period English, Rebecca stood at her locker grabbing her book and her notebook for Mr. Harris' third period history class, when out of the corner of her eye, she saw Daniel walking up her. What she didn't see, was the huge scuff on his face.

"Hey Becca." Daniel said

"Hey Daniel. I missed riding bikes with you this morning." Rebecca smiled. She turned to look at him, and the smile quickly faded when she saw the huge scuff marks on his forehead. She became frantic as she examined his face. "Daniel, what the fuck happened? Who did this to you?"

"I fell off my bike and hit a curb." Daniel lied.

Rebecca folded her arms over her chest and shook her head. "Daniel, I know that's what you told your mom, but I don't believe you. I'm your best friend, you're mine, and I want the truth." she said

Daniel sighed in defeat. "Last night after I left the restaurant, those Cobra Kai assholes came out of nowhere on their motorcycles and pushed me off the road, and they told me to stay away from you. I fell down the hill and I broke my bike." Daniel said embarrassed.

"Daniel..." Rebecca said, but was cut off by Daniel

"I'll see you later, okay?" Daniel smiled softly, clearly embarrassed by the whole incident. The brunette just folded her arms over her chest, and watched as Daniel walked away, a melancholy look on her face.

At the end of the day, Rebecca, Ali, Susan, and Barbara were walking down the hall together, and she had her backpack on her left shoulder. Rebecca was on one side of Ali, Susan was on the other, and Barbara was on the other side of Rebecca.

No matter how hard she tried, Rebecca couldn't stop thinking about what the Cobras did to Daniel. Bobby promised they would leave him alone.

"I'll tell you girls everything he said." Barbara smiled, as she, Rebecca, Ali, and Susan reached the library.

"You better." Ali chuckled as she, Rebecca and Susan bid her goodbye.

"Bye." Barbara smiled 

"Bye. See you later." Ali smiled, then turned to the brunette next to her. "You want to come to the arcade with us, Becca?" Rebecca, who was clearly bothered by seeing the scuff marks on Daniel's face, didn't hear the blonde, until... "Becca?" the blonde said as she tapped the brunette's shoulder

Rebecca clutched the strap of her backpack and turned to Ali. "I'm so sorry, did you say something?"

"Would you like to go to the arcade with us?" Ali invited, and Susan smiled

"Oh, maybe next time." Rebecca smiled. "But thank you for the invite.

Rebecca, Ali, and Susan continued walking down the hall, until Ali felt someone tap her on the shoulder. The blonde turned to see Daniel and her features brightened. "Hey." Daniel smiled

"Hi." Ali smiled brightly

"How ya doin?" Daniel asked.

"Oh, what happened to your forehead?" Ali asked in concern

"Oh, it was terrible, it was this gigantic runaway zit." Daniel joked and Ali laughed

Susan scrunched her nose in disgust. "That's gross." she said

"Daniel this is Susan." Ali said introducing them in between laughs

"Hi." Daniel smiled as he waved to Susan

"Charmed." Susan said sarcastically

"No come on what really happened?" Ali asked

"I got in a bike accident. But I'm okay." Daniel said. Rebecca just looked at Daniel and shook her head, while Ali gave him a look of concern

"What kind of bike do you have, Daniel? A Honda? Suzuki? What?" Susan asked curiously

"Uh, no, it's a, like a Miyaji turbo, actually." Daniel said

"Yeah?" Ali smiled as the group turned the corner

"Oh really?" Susan sarcastically asked 

"We're going to the arcade. You want to come?" Ali invited

"Yeah sure. Sounds great to me." Daniel smiled, and Rebecca smiled at the interaction between her two best friends.

Ali smiled brightly. "Good, they've got this new game I want to show you."

Daniel stopped in his tracks staring at the Cobra Kais, who were surrounding Johnny's bike. "Listen I just remembered I forgot something, so I'll catch up with you guys later." Daniel nervously said and began to leave

"Daniel, you don't have to run a way." Ali said as Daniel turned to walk away

"I'm not running away from anything." Daniel said

"Hey, look we've got to deal with this." Ali said

"You deal with things your way, I'll deal with them mine, okay? I'll see you. I got to go." Daniel said, as he turned to walk away again

"Daniel..." Ali said

"Get off my case!" Daniel said

Ali turned to her best friend and Susan who just shrugged their shoulders, then continued walking down the hallway. "Well, I guess I'll see you two later." Rebecca said

"You sure you don't want us to wait?" Ali asked

"I'm sure. You girls go ahead." Rebecca smiled

Ali embraced her best friend, who returned the embrace. "Call me." the blonde smiled. "I will." Rebecca smiled as she pulled away from the embrace

"Bye!" Ali and Susan smiled as they walked down the hall

Once Rebecca saw they were gone, she did the unthinkable. She walked up to the group of boys, pissed off and hurt. Johnny was sitting on the motorcycle, while the others were chatting.

Bobby was the first to see Rebecca and his eyes lit up, he stepped forward, but he didn't notice how pissed and hurt she was. "Hey Bec." Bobby smiled. This got the other Cobra's attention, as they all turned around and smiled at her, but Rebecca just glared

"What the fuck did you do to my friend Daniel LaRusso?!" Rebecca asked angrily

"What are you talking about?" Johnny asked

"You know good and goddamn well what I'm talking about Johnny. All of you pushed my friend Daniel down a hill! What the fuck? Are you guys insane?! You could have killed him!" Rebecca yelled

"Rebecca..." Bobby started, but was cut off by Rebecca

"I don't want to hear it. I'm disappointed in you Bobby. I thought you were the better one. I thought all of you were my friends. Friends don't do this to other friends. They don't hurt other friends either. All of hurt my one of my dear friends and that hurts me." Rebecca said. "What's this I hear you telling Daniel to stay away from me?"

"Because LaRusso is a loser, we did you a favor." Johnny said arrogantly

The Cobra Kais arrogantly laughed with Johnny, even Bobby, who gave Johnny a low five. Rebecca didn't find it funny at all. "You guys are assholes." she tearfully spat

"Come on Rebecca, take a joke." Bobby arrogantly said

"You see me laughing? I don't find that shit funny. Do you not remember me telling you assholes that I live in Reseda too?" Rebecca spat angrily

"What's the matter with you? Why are you and Ali always defending him?" Johnny asked

Rebecca sighed and angrily rolled her eyes. "I'll tell you why. I treat everyone the same. You never know what someone is going through until you've walked a mile in their shoes. You said Daniel is a loser, so I guess I'm a loser too." she said as her tears fell

"No, that's not..." Bobby said, his heart aching that she is crying because of him. That's his worst nightmare.

"I think that's exactly what you meant. The next time all of you think about picking on someone that isn't on your level, maybe think about what you have and be fucking grateful for it. Not all of us are blessed to come from the same upbringing as the rest of you, but we appreciate what we have, because we're taught to, as it's the only life we've ever known." Rebecca said

"I didn't mean any disrespect." Johnny said as he felt his heart clench in his chest at the thought of Rebecca hating him

"What a crock of shit. You sure as fuck meant it, because you fucking said it." Rebecca angrily spat as tears fell from her beautiful green eyes

"What happened to you Rebecca? Why are you so angry?" Tommy questioned

"That's none of your fucking business Tommy!" Rebecca spat. "All of you just leave me and my friends the fuck alone. I fucking mean it!"

Rebecca felt a clenching sensation in her chest. She felt herself about to fall apart, so she turned around and walked away.

"We really messed up." Jimmy said

"Yeah. We did. We really did." Bobby agreed as he felt his heart fall to his stomach, and watched as Rebecca wiped her tears and walked away

The Cobra Kais stood there, thinking about what Rebecca said. She was far from a loser. She was the nicest and the most beautiful girl in school, even more beautiful than Ali. She was the only one who didn't scream at them, and now they have fucked it up. Bad. Bobby looked miserable. His heart ached and longed for her. His friends took notice.

"Bobby, I'm sorry man I didn't mean what I said to her." Johnny said

"You don't owe the apology to me. You owe it to her. We all do. God, I'm such an asshole." Bobby said

"It's gonna be okay man." Jimmy said

Rebecca was beyond pissed they broke a promise. She rode her bike home, crying as she did so. She wished her mother was here to give her advice on what to do, although, she already knew what Lisa would tell her, to forgive them and give them a second chance. Rebecca didn't go straight home. She went to Daniel's apartment complex to check on him. She wanted to check on him and make sure he was okay. She got off her bike and noticed Daniel walking up to the gate.

"Hey Daniel." Rebecca said, no longer crying

"Oh hey Becca. What are you doing here?" Daniel asked

"I was coming to check on you." Rebecca said

"I'm all right, can I offer you something to drink?" Daniel asked

"Sure." Rebecca smiled.

The two teenagers walked into the complex, they stopped stopped when they saw Daniel's bike had been fixed. "Who fixed your bike?" Rebecca asked

"Come with me." Daniel said

Rebecca followed Daniel to the green doors where the older man from before, sat trimming little trees. They walked in and stopped in front of the screen door.

"Hey did you fix my bike?" Daniel asked

"Hai." The man said

"Thank you." Daniel said

"Welcome." The man said

"Hey, are those real trees?" Rebecca questioned

"You like see, come inside." The man said

Daniel and Rebecca glanced at each other before pushing open the door and carefully walking in. "How did they get so small?" Daniel asked as Rebecca looked at the Bonsai trees

"I trim. Clip here, trim here, tie here." The man explained

"Where'd you learn that?" Daniel asked

"Okinawa." The man responded

"Where's that?" Daniel asked

"My country." The man said. He stuck out his hand, trying to indicate where it was like a map. "Uh, China, here. Japan, here. Okinawa here."

"Did you go to school for this?" Daniel asked

"Father teach." The man said

"Was he a gardener?" Rebecca asked

"Fisherman." The man said

"Fisherman?" Daniel asked

Rebecca carefully examined the plants. They were so delicate, so beautiful. "These are really beautiful. My name is Rebecca by the way." she said as she examined the plants

"Mr. Miyagi." Mr. Miyagi said, then led Daniel and Rebecca over to the table where two little trees sat. "Come, you try."

"Oh, I don't know how to do this stuff." Daniel said

"Me neither." Rebecca said

"No. Sit down." Mr. Miyagi said and Rebecca and Daniel sat down.

"No, no. I may mess it up. I don't want to mess it up." Daniel said

"Close eye. Trust." Mr. Miyagi said, and Rebecca and Daniel closed their eyes. "Concentrate. Think only tree. Make a perfect picture, down to the last pine needle. Wipe your mind clean everything but tree." Gently turning the two teens' heads toward the bonsai trees, he said, "Nothing exists whole world. Only tree. You got it?" he asked

"Yes." Rebecca said and Daniel nodded

"Open eye." Mr. Miyagi said, and the two opened their eyes. "Remember picture?"

"Yeah." Daniel said, and Rebecca nodded

"Make like picture." Mr. Miyagi said as he gave them the trimming scissors. "Just trust picture." he added as he went back to trimming his bonsai tree

"But how do I know if my picture's the right one?" Daniel asked

"If come from inside you, always right one." Mr. Miyagi said

Rebecca couldn't help but smile. "He's so wise. I'll definitely be coming to visit him again." she thought to herself

Hours passed, and they heard a knock at the door. It was Lucille. Rebecca glanced at the clock. It was 9:00. Dean would be worried about her. "I didn't even realize the time. I've gotta get home, before my father gets worried. Thank you so much for this, Mr. Miyagi." the brunette smiled.

Mr. Miyagi nodded and walked over to a tree, and picked it up, giving it to her. "Give to father." Mr. Miyagi said with a smile, and Rebecca graciously took the tree and smiled sweetly at him.

"Thank you." Rebecca smiled

"Welcome." Mr. Miyagi said

"Hi Lucille." Rebecca smiled

"Hi sweetie." Lucille said sweetly

"Goodnight you guys." Rebecca said

"Goodnight sweetie." Lucille said

"Goodnight Becca." Daniel said

"Goodnight Rebecca-san." Mr. Miyagi bowed

Rebecca arrived home, walking in the door and Dean walked in from the kitchen. "Rebecca, where have you been?" Dean asked in concern

"I'm sorry. Daniel ran his bike off the hill. I stopped to check on him. But at his apartment, the maintenance man, Mr. Miyagi has these Bonsai trees. He wanted me to give this to you." Rebecca said while giving Dean the bonsai tree. She wasn't about to tell her father and aunt about Bobby and the other Cobras running Daniel off the hill.

"Oh that's nice." Dean said.

"He's a lovely man. He showed me how to trim it. That's what took me so long." Rebecca said

"Well, it's alright kiddo." Dean said. "I have some leftover dinner on the stove for you if you're hungry.

"That's okay, dad. I'm not hungry." Rebecca said. "I'll see you in the morning though."

"Kiddo, are you all right?" Dean asked

"Yeah, daddy, I'm fine." Rebecca said. "Just tired."

Rebecca kissed her father's cheek and walked down the hall. Dean watched as Rebecca walked down hall towards her bedroom. He knew something wasn't right, but he was going to let it go.

Later, Tammy Wynette's The World's Most Broken Heart played as a freshly showered Rebecca sat at her bedroom vanity brushing her damp hair, thinking about her confrontation with the Cobra Kais, and her heart began to clench in her chest. She just wanted Lisa. She just wanted her mother.

Flashback
— Winchester Family Home; Lebanon, KS; October, 1973

6-year-old Rebecca Winchester sat at her vanity as Lisa brushed her hair and Rebecca's Swan Lake music box played.

"I love it when you brush my hair momma." Rebecca smiled as Lisa brushed her hair

"Well momma's gonna let you in on a little secret." Lisa said. "The greatest joy in life is having your hair brushed and played with."

End of Flashback 

Rebecca wiped her tears and continued brushing through her damp hair. Feeling her eyelids get heavy, she closed her eyes, letting her worries drift away.
