3.We will now deliver Desserts

March 12, 2023

Seo Yeon's Pov

When we both opened the door, the scent of the baking bread flooded out and filled the street.

Jin Oppa came running towards us as he hugged Jungkook and patted my head. He gave us golden doughnuts that were fluffy, soft, and sprinkled generously with cinnamon sugar.

"It's so scrumptious," I said as I enjoyed the sugary flavor of the doughnuts, and Jin Oppa smiled at me. There were flatbreads, Hoddeok, chocolate pie, songpyeon, and other pastry treats that looked delicious and tempted me to eat.

"This is the address you need to deliver the desserts," Jin Oppa said.

"We will deliver it on time, Jin Hyung," Jungkook replied.

We all chatted for a while, and then we both focused on the address we were delivering to. The sun was glistening in the sky. When Jin Oppa asked for help, Jungkook promised to deliver these desserts to his customers because Jin valued them highly.

The house was located near the shop, so we decided to take a walk. I checked the address and rang the doorbell.

"I think it's the wrong house. Look at the board. It's written as 68, but we have to deliver it to House Number 86." Jungkook said, scratching his head.

"You could have said that to me before. I rang the bell. Let's apologize to them then." I frowned at him.

When I heard the creaking sound of the gate, I bowed to apologize, but to my surprise, an old lady appeared, holding a long stick and looking annoyed.

"Were you the one who scribbled on my wall?" She yelled, which made me flinch. I turned around to see Jungkook escaping. I cursed at him for ditching me. He grabbed my hand as I tried to run behind him and pulled me along. Though I tried, I was unable to match his speed.

Although we had been racing away for a while, we could still hear the old woman screaming. We squeezed together between the wall and the fruit truck after Jungkook shoved me behind it. As we both struggled for breath, Jungkook rested his head on my shoulder. His breath tickled my neck.

I glanced at her exhausted face, and the peach fragrance of her perfume filled my nostrils. It had a soft and fruity scent that was both comfortable and mellow. Her hair was stuck to her face from sweating, so I removed it.

"You look hot even now, Seo Yeon,"
I blurted out.

"It's not the right time for you to admire me. And how dare you run away, leaving me alone with that old lady?" She replied and scowled at me.

I placed my finger on her nose. She became quieter as I pulled her closer even more. I nuzzled my head in the crook of her neck. "Every day, I want you to smile because I love you a lot," I said, looking at her smiling face. She pecked my cheek and said, "I love you, Kook."

"It's time for us to deliver these. Stop being romantic, Seo Yeon. If we don't deliver, Jin Hyung will reprimand us for an hour."

"You were the one who said I was looking hot." I gazed at him with a pissed-off look.

He peeked to ensure that no one was around and again dragged me to run. As we both reached the house, breathing heavily, I told Jungkook to ring the bell this time.

He was holding his leg in pain as I kicked his legs. A female with brunette hair greeted us. "Sorry for being late. He is hurt, which is the reason for our late delivery," I said. She asked us to enter so that he could take a short break.

Her house wall was made of wood and bricks. Wood is evocative of city living, whereas bricks are reminiscent of country homes. There was a rock path that led us to the wooden door.

We seated ourselves in her living room. We were chatting for a little while when I noticed that she was staring at Jungkook's tattoos.

"Let me bring you some cookies," she said. When I saw her walking into the kitchen, I shuffled closer to Jungkook.

"I am sorry, Kook," I said to him, but he frowned.

"Don't be mad at me. We were late with the delivery, so I had to do that." I tried to reason with him.

"I am the one who's in pain, not you," he said.

"What if she is a witch and poisons us with cookies?"

"Why do you think like that?" he questioned me.

"These kinds of things often happen in cartoons. Have you not seen them? She was staring at your tattoos, didn't you notice it?" I replied as he started to giggle.

Then, after a while, she brought a tray full of cookies and placed them in front of us.

"Can you talk with my son? He loves tattoos. He is in the eleventh grade at his high school. Due to an accident, he broke his leg. It might take one more month for him to walk. He feels so downcast and refuses to talk with his friends," she requested, and we agreed.

"I thought she was a witch, but she is not," I whispered in Jungkook's ear, and he flicked my head.

"I was just kidding to make you smile. Why did you flick my head?" I said as we went to his room. He was sitting in a wheelchair and looking out the window. His mother introduced us to him. He just listened without looking at his mother.

He turned to look at us and saw Jungkook's hand. He smiled a little but was hesitant to start a conversation with us.

"Do Yun, your mother said you love tattoos?"

"Yeah, I love it. Can I touch your hand?" he said, glancing at Jungkook's hand.

Jungkook approached him with a warm smile, pulling out a nearby chair. He settled into the seat beside him. As they began to converse, a genuine connection sparked between both of them. Their conversation was filled with laughter and stories. I found Do Yun's Mom peeking inside the room and smiling, looking at both of them. She softly locked the door and went back.

"I promise to take you to Ink Tattoo when you complete high school," Jungkook said, tapping his shoulder.

"Do you like to hear music?" I asked him while looking around his room, filled with his tattoo designs and idol posters.

"Music comforts me when I feel gloomy," he said.

"Jungkook, how about you sing a song?" I exclaimed and went to grab the karaoke set that I saw in his room. I passed the mic to him, but he scratched his neck, feeling shy.

"Can you sing?" Do Yun asked and clapped his hand as I did the same.

He took the chair to the middle of the room and sat down. He took the mic and started singing. His voice sounded ethereal, euphonic, and lilting. His voice was like a million tiny bells tinkling through my ear, and it transported me to another planet.

Do Yun swayed his head along with the music, clearly enjoying the song, and seemed content. He relaxed himself, grinning broadly. I felt happier that the two of us could help him feel better. Parents want to make sure their kids are in good circumstances. I'm glad we were able to cheer up Do Yun together. I felt happy about that. He admired Jungkook a lot, and they both became good buddies. Do Yun's mother thanked us a lot and gave us a pass for a dinner date at a fancy restaurant. We denied it, but she insisted we accept that pass.

We both came out and started walking. Seo Yeon halted her steps and came in front of me. She opened her hand and hugged me tightly.

"Jungkook, what if we both have not chosen to be interns at the same workplace? I would have missed out on a tremendous person like you," she said, poking her little finger on my cheek.

"I am not tremendous, and I am trying my best to keep you happy," I replied to her.

"Let's go home. I am worn out after all the running. Babysitting the kids, today's date is somewhat acceptable as a dating thing. But the next one that you have written is not at all acceptable," she said, squeezing me even more into a tight hug.

I pushed her gently against the wall behind us. I pressed my lips against her, my fingers carding through her black, silky hair. She wrapped one hand around my neck and another to ruffle my hair. I pulled away from the kiss and said, "I can turn any date into a romantic one like this." I said, smiling as I placed a soft kiss on her forehead. She looked away to avoid my eye contact, which she does whenever I get close to her.

As we walked toward the Jungkook car, our hands brushed against each other. I didn't pull away, instead, I let my hands lightly graze his. The rain drizzled out of nowhere as we both looked at each other and dashed toward our cars. A subtle, earthy scent of damp soil wrapped around me, mingling with the freshness of the rain.

We reached the car, slightly soaked because of the rain. Jungkook held the door open for me. I slid into the passenger seat, and he quickly got on his side. I grabbed a towel from behind and softly dabbed Jungkook's wet hair.

"Dry your hair too, or you might end up catching a cold," he said, pinching my cheeks.

"I'll dry my hair right away," I replied.

The car started moving smoothly along the road. The rain pelted steadily against the window, and I found him occasionally stealing glances at me. When I caught his eyes once, he exaggerated a kissy face in a flirtatious manner that made my heart flutter. I tapped his shoulder playfully as he passed with a playful smile.

"Do Yun seemed to enjoy the time we spent with him. I'm glad we were able to make him happy. It's understandable how it feels to be stuck in that wheelchair." Jungkook said.

I nodded. "Yeah, he was happy. I hope our visit made his day a little better."

"It was good to see him smile." He said.

I loved the way Jungkook always cared about others. He is a person who puts others before himself. "And you were amazing. It was good to see you singing after a long time, and I could see how much he admired you."

He shrugged modestly. "I just did what I could."

We both got out of the car as soon as we arrived at my apartment. The rain had stopped, leaving the air fresh and crisp with coolness. There were puddles all over the road that shimmered in yellow under the light.

"So are you looking forward to next weekend?" Jungook asked with a mischievous grin.

"I'm excited for the next weekend, and I enjoyed it a lot today. Even when we were just delivering desserts or dealing with a cranky old lady, It turned out special as I spent the day with you," I said, pecking his nose.

"Get some rest," he said, waving goodbye to me. I nodded my head and gave him a warm smile. As I watched him drive away, I felt happier because he was part of my life. The two dates we had together were filled with laughter and chaos. It was so sweet of him that he put so much thought into planning these strange dates. I felt truly lucky to have him as my boyfriend.
