What am I to you?
"Really?!" You said, excitedly. "You're really not kidding?"
"No, I'm not kidding! How many times do I have to say this?" Yoongi said, exhausted.
You two were in the music room. You had come for your singing lesson only to find it was only Yoongi there, sitting on a table as usual. You wondered what his problem was with chairs. He probably would have only sat on a chair if a teacher was around.
"Okay, just say it one more time," you begged.
"No," he dragged out the word. He then tilted his head, making strands of his hair fall out of his eyes so that he could look at you. "If you tell me to say it one more time, I'll make them cancel it."
You immediately closed your mouth and stayed quiet.
Apparently Yoongi had caught you singing one of your own songs that you wrote, without you knowing he was there and later on he heard that you were not going to perform in the school program coming up soon. You were very upset about it and thought you just weren't as talented enough as everyone else to perform in the show.
Yoongi did music, just like you, but specialized more in writing songs and rapping. Since Yoongi had the opening performance, he decided to tell the music teacher he needed you to help him with the song he was writing for the opening and also wanted you to sing it with him. And, of course, the teacher could not say no to a prodigy like Yoongi.
"So is that why the teacher isn't here right now?" You asked.
He nodded. "We're going to work on the song now," he said while getting off the table to take his note book out of his bag.
While he wasn't looking your way, you smiled broadly and got excited. Yoongi was paging through his book when he looked up and saw your broad smile.
"What are you doing?" He looked at you as if he was disgusted which made you stop. He then rolled his eyes. "Just get over here."
You rushed to his side. Yoongi sure was a scary person.
"So this song is about following your dreams and never giving up no matter what people say, " he said. "I was thinking you could sing the chorus since your voice would give it a really good affect."
Instead of getting really excited like you wanted, you decided to act serious about it since Yoongi looked really serious. You didn't want to irritate him.
"Okay, cool," you said while nodding and looking at the lyrics.
"I need you to sing it with real feeling. So when you sing it, I want you to think about your biggest dream in the world and sing like you'd reaching out to it. As if your almost there but not quite. Okay?"
You weren't sure if you even had a dream anymore. But you didn't want to disappoint Yoongi so you nodded slowly, still looking a bit unsure.
He put his palm on the table, leaning in close to you and looked you straight in the eye seriously to see if you were lying.
"You do have a dream, right?" He asked.
You gulped. "Yeah..."
"Then, what is your dream?"
"Bam-pa-ra-pum-pum-pum!" Jhope came in screaming with a bright smile on his face. "Jhope has come to rescue you!" He said while looking at you.
You were glad he came in at that moment. He definitely saved you from scary Yoongi and the question he had asked. Yoongi just sighed.
"Yoongi-ah, stop scaring the girl. You're very intimidating," said Hoseok.
"I'm just trying to make sure I picked the right girl for this job," Yoongi said and then turned to you with softer eyes. "But okay, I'll be gentler with you. I heard you sing already so I think you'll be perfect for the song," he said and patted you on the head.
At that moment, Kookie came in with his usually bunnyteeth smile and greeted everyone. "Hey guys!" He then ran to you and gave you a hug. When he released, he asked a question: "So what are you guys doing?"
"I'm working on a song with Yoongi. We're going to perform it at the school program," you said excitedly.
"You should actually call Yoongi 'Suga' when he raps. That's the nickname I gave him for when he becomes famous," Hobi said, making Yoongi sigh.
"Yoongi, you rap?" Kookie asked, surprised.
"He sure does," said Jhope proudly.
"I wanna hear him rap," said Kookie.
"I didn't hear him rap yet either," you said.
"Yoongi, can you rap for us?" said Kookie.
Yoongi then sighed loudly, almost screaming. "Don't you guys have dance practice to go to or something?" He said irritably.
"Nope. We just finished," said Jhope.
"Well you can't stay here," he said. "Go somewhere else. We have a song to work on right now."
Jhope sighed. "Aww! You're no fun, Yoongi," he said and turned around. "Come on Kookie, let's go somewhere else." When he reached the door, he looked back at you with a smile. "Good luck, Y/n!"
He and Kookie then disappeared out the door and you and Yoongi continued on working through the song together. Luckily Yoongi wasn't as serious this time and you had quite a lot of fun working on the song with him.
Once the period was done, Yoongi had a class to go to, leaving you to have a second music period all to yourself.
Since you had nothing to do, you decided to visit Taehyung in his drama classroom. You were excited too because you never saw him act before, plus he was in a play with Jin since they were going to perform it in the school program.
Sadly, when you entered they had just finished acting and were on their way out already.
"Aww! I really want see you guys act!" You say while pouting, disappointed.
Jin smiled when he saw you and patted you on the head. "Maybe next time," he said. "The show is coming up soon, you can watch it then."
"Yeah, I guess," you say, sadly.
Taehyung then spotted you with Jin right before walking out. So he ran back inside to you and hugged you tightly. "Y/n! I didn't see you all day!" He said, obviously happy to see you. He hugged you for a really long time before letting go again.
"I missed you too," you said. You were about to say something else when Taehyung stopped you.
"Unfortunately, I won't be able to spend time with you now either. I have something I need to go do," he said while walking away.
"What is it?" You asked.
"I can't talk right now," he said before disappearing through the door.
It's been like this for a while now. You didn't get to see Taehyung a lot. He was always busy with something and wasn't able to hang out with you a lot. You missed having him around. No one could replace Taehyung. His cute smile, his weird personality, the silly things he does.
You felt especially bad for Kookie who couldn't spend time with Tae. Lately, he's being looking really lost without Taehyung since he used to spend all his time with him.
"I think you should go check up on him," Jin said, bringing you back to reality.
You almost forgot he was there. You gave him a questioning look.
"You don't know this because he hasn't been spending a lot of time with you lately but he's been acting really strange lately," he said. "Something's wrong. I confronted him about it once but he wouldn't tell me what it was."
"Really?" You asked. You had no idea that anything was wrong. He was always acting so normal with you and seemed fine. But on the other hand, he was really good at acting so how could you have known.
"Yeah. You should go talk to him. I think he'll only open up to you." He gave you a sympathetic smile when he saw the sad expression on your face and ruffled your hair. "Go on. You need to go find your friend," he said while gently shoving you away.
"Okay. Thanks for telling me, Jin." And with that you were out the door and off to find your best friend.
You were looking everywhere. Every classroom, the hallway where his locker was, the normal place where you, Kookie and Tae would hang out during breaks.
Soon it was break and you still didn't find Tae. You decided to look a bit more and at that moment you walked pass the school library and noticed a familiar face.
It was Tae. He was sitting by a table at the back of the library staring into space. You almost didn't notice he was there. You wondered why he was there. He hated books and would never go to the library.
You walked over to him silently. It was only when you pulled out the chair in front of him to sit in it that he snapped back into reality.
He didn't look all that excited to see you this time. He looked nervous and uncomfortable.
"Hi," you said. "I've been looking everywhere for you." You suddenly started to feel awkward. You didn't actually know what you were going to say to him.
"You have? I'm sorry, I should've told you where I was going."
"But even if I asked, you wouldn't have told me, would you?" You said in a sympathetic voice. He stayed quiet. "Because you've been trying to avoid me," you said.
He looked down and sighed softly. "Yeah," was all he said.
"Taehyung, something's wrong, isn't it? What is it? You can always talk to me you know. That's what best friends are for," you said.
You saw a smile form on his lips before disappearing again. There was a short silence before you spoke again.
"If... If it was something I did or said, I'm sorry and I'll make it up to you," you said.
He then immediately looked up at you. "What? No. You could never do anything to upset me." He paused for a while before speaking again. "I'm the problem."
"What do you mean?" you asked, confused.
"I spoke with Jimin," he said. You forgot to breathe for a moment when he mentioned Jimin's name. "I noticed how sad you were without him so I decided to ask him to give you another chance. But he told me that I was the reason why you and Jimin broke up. That there's something going on between the two of us and he won't take any chances," he said, and you were shocked by his confession. "That's why I decided to spend less time with you. So that he can come back to you."
You didn't know what to say. "Tae, you..." Your eyes started to tear up.
His eyes widened. He leaned over the table and wiped the tears from your eyes, his hand resting on your cheek. "Please, don't cry."
"Tae, you didn't have to do that for me."
"You're my best friend. I'd do anything for you," he smiled.
"You don't need to ignore me anymore though. We broke up for a reason: because I didn't want to lose my best friend," you said while smiling at him. "And please don't ever blame yourself for me and Jimin not being together. Because any boyfriend who asks me to choose between my best friend and boyfriend is not worth it," you said, looking at him seriously. "Seriously, how could he even think such a thing? We're best friends, there's no way you could have feelings for me more than a friend."
Taehyung was quiet and looked at you with serious and pained eyes. You wondered if you said something wrong. He looked down at the table hesitantly, opening his mouth to say something. But no words came out.
He then looked back up at you and finally spoke.
"But what if I did... have feelings for you?"
