THE STORY OF MARINA MAYBANK.

marina maybank had demons, ones that she couldn't look in the eye and fight off, ones that were far to strong for her to handle. they consumed her; broke her, damaged goods is what she called herself...because she knows she can't be fixed. she knows that no matter what happens, no matter what she does..she will always be marina maybank the broken-hearted girl. Her whole life she's been stuck in the home of her father, luke maybank who would constantly drink and do drugs only to give her and her brother a hard beat down later.

jj would constantly take one for the team and get most of the beatings in fear of his sister getting seriously hurt. He says that he will rather leave with black eyes and bruises than her leave with some. marina hates it, how he protects and sacrifices his self for her, knowing that she is too weak to do the same for him. jj's overprotectiveness is useful at times but also extremely frustrating, marina can't sleep at night sometimes knowing that her brother is currently in the next room being their fathers punching bag because he defended marina when Luke hit her.

she hates seeing the bruises on jj when they wake up in the morning. Sometimes after luke is done marina would lay in bed with jj and hold him tight in hopes of it taking away his pain and making him feel better, but little did she know..that knowing that it was him instead of her getting hurt,, was enough to make him feel better, even though he'd been beaten up pretty bad. The twins tried multiple times to run away but for some reason always ended up coming back. So the only way to escape from what lied in the maybank house, they hung out at John b's place or on the beach.

With their friends the twins were happy. They completely forgot about what they would have to go home too until it was actually time to do so.

Marina and king of the kooks, topper thornton , began dating originally way before summer started. He saw her and she saw him, hating him because he was the enemy but also couldn't help but liking him. His smooth dirty blonde like hair, his blue eyes that sparkle in the sun, and his deep dimples attracted her and the fact they aren't suppose to be together in the first place only made it more thrilling and fun. He was a good boyfriend at first, cared for her, did things for her, it was perfect for marina cause it gave her a place to stay when her dad got out of control.

It did put a huge hole in her and jj's relationship, he didn't approve at all, his sister dating topper. The thought of it made him want to puke. And even after jj told him he didn't like it, she dated top anyway.

but then after a while their relationship wasn't so good. He began to complain a lot, complain about the fact that whenever they hung out he had to pay for things because she never had any money, that everytime he raised his voice even the slightest, she would flinch. How she would randomly cry at night sometimes, he never asked if she was okay. Just went straight to cursing her out. But there was times when he showed some concern but that was rare.

They broke up countless times in the year that they dated. But every time, they always came back. Marina couldn't stay away from him, even when she tried to give up on them she couldn't. Until recently, she had gotten worse when it came to mental health, she began to change a lot. she wasn't so smiley and cheerful all the time, at home, her father had gotten more and more violent everyday, to the point where it was as if he didn't care if he beat his kids to death

she began to self harm, no one noticed, because she was good at hiding it. It was her way of inflicting her anger onto herself instead of taking it out of anyone else because she tends to do that. Which is why she also gave herself the reputation of being a wreckless bitch, all her troubles at home only made her take anger out on the world and everyone in it.

she became more and more depressed by the day topper had enough of his girlfriends shit. He broke up with her in the harshest way possible shattering the girls heart even more than it already was.

As she sobbed everyday because of it, the only one who was around to wipe her tears was the one and only pope heyward. She was appreciative of it, in all honesty..she expected it to be her brother to comfort her but considering the fact that jj didn't like his sister and worst enemy together, their breakup was something that he was okay with, he wasn't completely okay with his sister being heartbroken though. He wanted to kill topper.

marina and pope started to get close. Walks on the beach when she was sad was what she always looked forward to when hanging with him. she loved everything they did together. she enjoyed being in his presence. until, he confessed his love for her and kissed her.

then everything went completely dark, marina started to fear , a pit in her stomach forming every time she saw him. not because she didn't feel the same way, but because she was afraid.

it didn't take jj long to realize that the two had gotten very close. he didnt like it. he knew how fucked up his sister is and that the last thing she needs is another boyfriend, she needed to get her shit together first before anything. Not only that, he just didn't like the idea of his bestfriend dating his sister.

so he did everything in his power to stop it.

though marina didn't like that jj was trying to run her life and protect her once again, deep down she felt that the things he said was right. that she is way to messed up for a relationship and that she's not going to do anything but break the precious human being that is pope heyward.
