"Hi, Ron." Juliet spoke the next morning as she made her way into class, stopping before the redhead boy who looked up at her with a blink of his eyes, "Would you care if I sat with you?"
"Please." he spoke quickly and in a beg, thankful she hadn't taken any notice to it with a small smile before sitting down. He noticed the black lace gloves on her hands once again, he'd realized she'd never had them in his dreams.
"Sleep well?" Juliet went to ask with a nod, small talk was always something she was good at, growing up in a library it was rather nice to make small conversation in a quite tone.
"Yes." Ron said, wide eyes at the mention of sleep. He continued to wonder of if she'd maybe shared the same dreams he ever had, "What about you? Sleep well? Any weird dreams?"
Harry and Hermione both gave him a look of disbelief from the desk beside
Juliet who had her head turned to the Weasley boy, thankfully not seeing his friends faces.
"Well there was this one." Juliet said as he nodded frantically and leaned in closer to listen to her, not even realizing he was doing so, "I was in the forbidden forest all alone and I was crying over something, I couldn't figure out what it was but it must have been pretty bad if I was in there... merlin knows why i'd even go in there, a death wish i'd say."
Ron's face flattened slightly, he'd some what knew Juliet hadn't dreamt of him the way he did her all these years. Hermione urged him to keep talking to her, his face flushing while clearing his throat, "Uh, I once went into the forest."
Juliet looked to him with slightly wide eyes and a gapped mouth, "If you're having suicidal thought we could-"
"No, no, no. It wasn't that, but there was a lot of spiders. Thankfully my car saved Harry and I before they ate us, I still have nightmares about it." Ron said as Juliet blinked in surprise at the story while pulling her books onto the desk.
"You know what could help nightmares? Read a book, specifically more so a happier one, it'll have you thinking of it before you fall asleep and prevent the bad from getting in your brain." Juliet said with a knowing look his way, watching the redhead boy prop his head on his hand while staring at her with the most amazed and lovestruck eyes she'd ever seen... but Juliet was beyond oblivious.
"I-i'll keep it in mind." he said before professor Moody burst through the door, startling everyone as they all sat up straighter and payed closer attention.
"Alestor Moody." he introduced himself to the small class that was in a rather crammed and pushed together classroom, "Ex-Auror, Ministry malcontent, and your new Defense Against The Dark Arts Teacher. I am here because Dumbledore asked me, end of story, goodbye, the end. Any questions?"
No one raised their hand, no one said anything, everyone was silent in slight fear. Ron and Juliet shared a looked in the corner of each of their eyes but didn't dare to turn and look at each other as Professor Moodys eye was moving around the class quickly.
"When it comes to the Dark Arts I believe in a practical approach. But first, which one of you can tell me how many Unforgivable Curses there are?" the man went on, his feet loud of the wood floor as he paced slightly. Juliet tugged on her gloves slightly, a nervous habit she picked up on when she started wearing them a few years ago.
"Three, sir." Hermione spoke, her voice was a tad bit shaky but didn't miss the chance to answer a question right.
"And they are so named?" he asked, not sure if he was dedicating it toward Hermione or anyone who wanted to answer. Juliet knew of one, she didn't dare say anything though.
"Because they are unforgivable. The use of any one of them will.." Hermione was cut off by the new professor himself as the chalk scratched on the chalk board.
"Earn you a one way ticket to Azkaban, correct." he confirmed with a nod to his head that was balding, "Now the Ministry says you are to young to see what these curses do, I say different! You need to know what you're up against! You need to be prepared! You need to find a better place to put your chewing gum then the underside of your desk, Mr.Finnegan."
The boy from the back looked in disbelief when everyone turned back to look at him, finding he did indeed have his gum in hand and under the table, "No way, the old codger can see out of the back of his head."
Juliet gasped quietly when Moody chuckled the chalk he was writing with back at Seamus, "I'm hear across classrooms! So, which curse should we see first?"
"Weasley!" Professor Moody yelled as he stood before Ron and Juliet, both jumping at the loud voice as Ron looked up at him in fear.
"Yes?" Ron asked quickly and in a panic, obeying their teachers words when he told him to stand. Juliet looked over at Hermione and Harry in slight fear for Ron's sake as they mirrored her expression.
"Give me a curse." Moody demanded as Juliet cleared her throat.
"Sir, I can-" she began before he cut her off.
"Not you, Miss Knightly!" he spoke loudly while slapping his hand on her desk, Juliet jumped as she leaned back in her chair as much as she could.
"Well, my dad did tell me about one. The Imperious Curse." Ron spoke as he tried to avoided eye contact with the man who was leaning closer at his words.
"Oh, yeah. Your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago. Perhaps this will show you why." Moody said with a nasty glare as he headed for the front of the classroom as Ron sat down quickly, him and Juliet both shared a wide eyed look once again before looking back at the front of the class on sync.
"He's mad." Juliet whispered to Ron as she watched professor Moody pull out a relatively large spider from a vase.
"Engorgio." the larger man said as the spider tripled in size in his palm, Ron letting on a panicked squeal under his breath.
"Imperius!" Moody spoke to it again with wand in hand, the spider landing on Dean and Nevilles desk as they both jumped back.
"Don't worry, completely harmless!" Moody announced as the spider landed on Goyles face as he began to panic.
"If she bites, she's lethal." Moody laughed loudly along with the rest of the class when the spider was suddenly on Ron's face, panic setting in as his body shook while whimpering. Juliet leaned over and hit Ron across the face making him yell in pain but the flew spider off.
"I got her off." Juliet spoke while pumping her hands in the air and patting Ron's back as he held his face in pain.
"What are you laughing at?" Moody asked as he sent the spider onto Dracos face now, the bleach blonde haired boy shaking in fear as he yelled for his friends to get it off over and over.
"Talented, isn't it? What should I have her do next? Jump out the window? Drown herself?" Moody spoke, his laughed disappearing as he dangled the spider over the glass of water.
"She hasn't done anything!" Juliet said angry toward the man with a look of hurt and furious across her soft features, "Leave her alone!"
"Whatever you say, Miss Knightly." Moody said with a unreadable look across his face while bringing the spider to rest in his palms once again. Juliet sighed in relief as she held a glare at the man, Ron almost let himself pat her back in comfort but decided against it.
"Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only did You-Know-Who's biding under the influence under the Imperious curse but here's the rub. How do we sort out the liars?" Moody asked as he looked around the classroom, asking for another curse as Neville slowly raised his hand, though it was clear he hadn't wanted to.
"Longbottom is it? Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for Herbology." Moody spoke as he got on eye level with Neville who nodded hesitantly.
"There- there's the cruciatatis curse." Neville said quietly as Moody's eyes lit up.
"Correct! Correct! Come, come!" Moody went on a he lead Neville toward the front of the class again.
"That poor spider." Juliet spoke with a sigh as Ron looked at her with a crazed look.
"Poor spider? Did you see it on my face?" he asked her, his voice getting higher and higher and Juliet shhed him when Moody looked their way for a half second before back at Neville.
"Particularly nasty. The torture curse." Moody mumbled as Juliet sat up better at the mention, a bad feeling setting in her stomach, she knew something horrible was close to happening.
"Crucio!" Moody yelled as the spider began to squeal and fall around in pain, pain flowing through its tiny and helpless body.
"Leave her alone!" Juliets booming voice was loud in the classroom, bouncing off the walls as she stood from her chair which made a loud screech as well. Moody only put a hand her way to silents her.
"Stop it! Can't you see it's bothering them? Stop it!" Hermione yelled just as loud as Juliet did, seeing the horribly and painful look on Nevilles face as Juliets eyes swelled with tears. She'd always been more connected to animals, any form of creature she felt as though they had once been humans and hated them being in pain for pleasure of others.
"You sick old man!" Juliet was loud again as Ron called for her under his breath as she rounded their desk and headed for Moody.
"One more step and you'll have weeks of detention!" Moody spoke to her quickly and loudly as Juliet got closer.
"I don't care!" Juliet went back as she pulled his wand from his hands and slammed it down on the desk, freeing the bug of pain as Neville sighed in relief. Moody cleared his throat, looking to Juliet with a odd look as if she had snapped him out of a trance before he picked up the spider softly in his hands.
"Neville, are you alright?" Juliet asked as she went to the boys side to give his shoulder a small rub with her laced covered hands.
"Perhaps you could give us the last Unforgettable Curse." Moody said as he laid the spider on Hermiones desk before her as she looked away with a pained face. Ron met eyes with Juliet, a small shake, telling her she was already in enough trouble as it was. Hermione shook her head with tears in her eyes, paining Juliet from a few feet away.
"No? Avada Kedavra!" Moody shouted, the horrible curse sending a chill down Juliets arms as she looked away to prevent from seeing the spider being killed before all of them.
"The killing curse. Only one person is known to survive it, and he's sitting in this room." Moody spoke as he stood before Harry now who avoided eye contact, looking down at the lightning bolt scar peaked out from under his hair just in the slightest.
"You reckon she's all right?" Ron asked as he watched Juliet sit with Cedric at the Hufflepuff table in the great hall. She wasn't eating, pushed the bowl away from her while flipping through random books and sorting them.
"Well, she has much more emotion then either of you ever would, did you not see her face in class?" Hermione asked him in disbelief, knowing Ron didn't know the first thing about woman nor was good with emotions.
"I saw her all right, almost used the killing curse on Mad-Eye myself." Ron said angrily as Harry looked at him in the corner of his eye.
"Well." Harry stated toward the youngest Weasley male who looked at him as if he was crazy.
"Well what?" Ron shot back with wide and shiny eyes.
"You could always go ask her how she's doing." he suggested, Ron gave him the most insane look he'd ever had before as if Harry had just told him he had to go confuse his undying love.
"Have you gone mad? I can't just go over there and ask." Ron said to him as he took a large bite of the chicken they had for dinner that night.
"Oh how crazy that thought must be, showing Juliet that you care." Hermione said with a scoff as Ron looked at her in disbelief.
"She knows I care." Ron defended himself through a mouthful of food, making Hermione cringe, "I think."
"I believe she only thinks Cedric cares." Harry said, simply just trying to push Ron to somehow show some form of affection toward Juliet after having to hear about her every day for the last three years.
"Cedric, he is rather cool, isn't he?" Ron asked with a longing expression, watching him put his arm around Juliet while attempting to get her out of the slump she was in.
"Oh, the coolest." Hermione gushed as Ron gave her a look of disbelief as Harry patted his back while he slowly stood. Ron pulled on his sweater slightly, his feet slowly moving across the Great Hall.
"Go on." Hermione said after he paused to look back at them, waving him off as Ron flushed and slowly made his way over. Juliet was seated at the end of the table much like she always did, she told him once in a dream she hated feeling smothered, but he had absolutely no clue if everything that happened in his mind was accurate compared to real Juliet.
"Hello." he greeted quietly and softly while standing before the table. Juliet barely even heard him and wouldn't even have bothered to look up if he wasn't standing before her.
"Oh, hi Ron." Juliet said as she looked up at him, the only time she ever had to, with sad eyes and a sad smile. The whole Hufflepuff table went silent as they turned to see the Gryffindor standing before their fellow Hufflepuff. Juliet took notice of Ron's discomfort with all the eyes on him, "Do you want to go someplace else to talk?"
"Yes." he said to quickly and to forcefully, a small jump leaving Juliets body at the sudden words as she grabbed her books and lead him out of the Great Hall to the large and currently empty hallway.
"I just- well we wanted to make sure you were alright..." Ron trailed off, he'd already began to regret saying anything when he saw the awkward look on Juliets face.
"Oh, that's very kind of you, i'm all right." she said while beginning to tug on her lace gloves that he still wondered about, "What about you?"
"I'm okay." Ron said back quickly with a small smile which she returned, "Well that's a-"
"Oh, here, I was meaning to give these to you after but now that you're here..." Juliet trailed off awkwardly much like he did, passing the two books into his large and callused hands, "These two have happy endings, so maybe you won't have so many bad dreams."
"Could you spoil the ending?" he asked her, he wasn't big on reading but simply wanting her to talk to him longer, nothing but comfort provided.
"In this one, they end up together in the end. They have a small family and live their days loving each other more and more as the seconds pass." Juliet went on, having to stop herself from getting carried away at the spark and hopefully look in her eyes before she pointed to the other book in his hands, "Though in this one the love of his life dies, it's very sad and painful but he lives on her memory and finds himself someone else. Though he never loves anyone even the smallest bit as much as he loved her, he finds someone similar in ways so he could remember the woman he'd loved for all of eternity and longer."
Ron blinked at her words. Juliet was exactly what his mother had once called a 'hopeless romantic'. He hadn't expect it from her, she just didn't seem to be the type to long for it, "Tragic, that one."
"Maybe so." Juliet admits with a small shrug, "Either way, I hope one day I could have such a beautiful and epic little love story like that."
"Do you?" he asked her with wide eyes, her darker eyes looking back up to him then rather down at the old and used books.
"Oh, yes, though I hope myself or my lover do not end up dying in the end... but maybe if I do or they do, our story could live on for ages where our friends will tell their kids and their kids will tell their kids." Juliet went on as Ron watched her speak, though he knew a lot about her already, he didn't know her idea of love and why she'd wanted it so terribly bad, "Like if a mirror breaks... you can't put it back together but you know it was once valuable and held so much potential and beauty."
"Where'd you hear that?" he asked her with a blink, finding the comparison rather unique and beautiful.
"It just came to me, I can see myself in the reflection of your eyes so I thought of a mirror." she said with a laugh as he ducked his head with a blush and a giggle.
"Hope you enjoy those." were her final words with a small smile before leaving him there, alone, a final wave as he waited till she was gone to lean back on the wall with a wide smile, holding the books tight in his hands.
