9. Not What It Looks Like

Hanzo has never slept so comfortably in his life. Then again, he hasn't slept properly in a long time. His bed was surprisingly warm, making it the perfect setting to wake up to. Not freezing cold, making you want to stay in bed and do nothing. Just the perfect temperature to feel relaxed after a long snooze-

Surprisingly warm?!

Hanzo slowly opened his eyes, preparing for any light he'd be blinded by. But his room was dark, he blinked a few times to have his sight cleared, and that's when he realized...His bed was warm because another person was in it.

That person being Niran.

He was surprised, how did Niran even get here? And why was he in his bed? Hanzo tried to remember what even happened last night, but it was all a blur.

He carefully sat up as to not wake Niran, he turned his head and noticed the empty sake bottles and glasses on the bedside table (and one bottle on the floor). He pieced it together and figured that he was drunk. But that didn't explain Niran's presence here. It bothered him.

Hanzo shuffled off the blanket and tried getting up, but then a spiking pain from his head was so sudden it sat him back down. It was now the hangover, the worst stage of drinking. He looked back at Niran.

He looked peaceful asleep, Hanzo would've hate to wake him up. He glanced at the clock and saw the time; 6:47am. It was early but Hanzo was used to getting up at this time or earlier. Mostly because he didn't sleep some days or slept an hour or two at most.

But he knew Niran actually slept, and he wasn't sure if he should wake him up. He didn't even know when they fell asleep, so how would he know if it'd be too early or not?

Hanzo didn't want to wait, he also wanted answers. What else did they do other than drinking? He worried for something else that could've happened. Even if they weren't even touching, he had to stay cautious.

He sat there, waiting, watching the clock change by the minute. It felt like an eternity each time with only just a minute passing. He decided to wait until 7am to wake Niran up. But Hanzo slowly started to find himself become impatient.

The moment he saw the clock hit 7, he began trying to wake him up.

"Niran, wake up." Hanzo softly shook him awake.

Niran groaned, feeling the tiredness of waking up. He slightly got up, leaning on his arm for support as he rubbed his eyes with the other hand. "Hanzo, why do you always wake me up so early?"

"You're in my bed," Hanzo told him.

"What?" Niran fully sat up, looking at Hanzo. He looked around and realized he was indeed in Hanzo's room. "When did I..."

"Last night, we must've been drinking." Hanzo looked at Niran, speaking with a serious tone. "What did we do last night?"

Niran took a moment to think, since he too was starting to feel the hangover effects. And he was woken up so suddenly. "Well, I know I brought the sake... then we talked for a bit... everything after that is a blur. But I don't think we did anything."

"How can I trust that? You don't even remember."

"I think I'd know if I did anything with a man, Hanzo."

"How can you be so certain?" Hanzo's voice slightly got louder, Niran could sense the anger in him. "Don't you know how many people wish to sleep with me? They tried their hardest to spend time alone with Hanzo Shimada. And here you are sleeping with me."

"We did not sleep together, Hanzo. We have our clothes on." Niran tried to reassure him.

"I meant in other ways, not just.. that."

Niran frowned, although he couldn't remember too much from last night. He felt like his plan to have Hanzo feel comfortable with him crumble to the ground. How was he even suppose to fix things now? And it felt clear how Hanzo felt. Niran felt his heart sink, yet another man he felt like he had a chance with. He had to stop thinking about it.

In a world like this? He hasn't even fully come out yet, and it might just be worse with him being a wanted man. What if all of Overwatch doesn't like him once he does?

"Hanzo, listen. Trust me, we didn't do anything. We probably passed out after drinking. Nothing else happened, got it?" Niran said in a last ditch effort to try and calm Hanzo.

"Just leave my room. In fact, go to yours. and don't leave until I say so."

"Are- Are you grounding me? Hanzo, I am a grown man."

"A man that's being guarded, your point? Go to your room." Hanzo repeated.

Niran got up and left, ignoring the pain in his head. It was just the hangover.

Hanzo watched as Niran left, once he did he let out a long sigh. Love was something Hanzo had dreaded, despite wanting to some day settle down. He knew that day was far from now, and probably just a dream. He ran his fingers through his hair as he stared at the floor. Was he too harsh on Niran? He knew he wasn't interested in men, he rejected any sort of attraction a man had for him. Maybe Niran really meant no harm but Hanzo still had to be wary. He sighed and got off his bed, heading to the bathroom in his room. Assuming a warm shower could calm him down. As well as help with the hangover for now.

He looked at himself in the mirror, "The man never changes regardless of his deeds." He spoke to himself. Stripping from his clothing and taking the well needed shower.
