17. The First
After spending majority of the day alone, Hanzo ended it off with a warm shower. Despite taking the day to relax, there was a few things that lingered on his mind.
He didn't realize how good it'd feel to let out everything that pressured him. His upbringings, his guilt, the clan, everything. It felt good to let it all out. He just never thought the person he'd tell it to would be someone who recently came into his life.
Niran.
The name, the face, it lingered in his mind. Hanzo didn't know why, it slightly bothered him but not too much. What really bothered him was the way he felt at the slightest mention of him. He couldn't understand why he felt different now, but not before.
Whilst drying himself off, he looked at the mirror. Hanzo began to see a different man, one that's beginning to redeem himself rather than the one he's always seen. Has he really begun to change? Hanzo didn't understand how, but he was glad. Even if he still couldn't forgive himself for what he's done in the past.
But it was all so strange. The weird feeling he felt when he thought of Niran, opening up to him, it bothered him. Hanzo had to figure out why.
Hanzo fully dried himself off and left the bathroom, getting clean clothes on. Since it was late and he did plan on sleeping after the shower, he didn't bother putting his hair up. He left his room and walked towards Niran's, knocking since he didn't know the new code.
Hanzo kept knocking, awaiting a response. Unaware that Niran wasn't in the room at all. Niran had been elsewhere and only now was making his way towards his room. Only then did he notice Hanzo at his door.
"Hanzo? Did you need something? I thought I was going to have this day alone." He slightly joked.
Hanzo turned to see him, "I assumed you were in your room.. I have something to ask of you, in private."
"Shall we speak inside the room then?" Niran asked as Hanzo nodded.
Niran went towards the door and entered the code, Hanzo tried getting a peak but wasn't able to get the new four-digit code. Niran opened the door and let Hanzo in. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
"Just... something that might be difficult to explain." Hanzo started. "After I opened up to you today, I've started thinking..."
Niran began to become curious, "Oh? What have you been thinking about?" he looks at the shorter man in front of him.
"I've begun to realize something, I'm unsure how to put it into words.."
"Take your time, I'll listen. If you need to vent again, I'm here for you, Hanzo." Niran assured.
"I've been starting to have this weird feeling, it might be because I opened up to you. But it all feels strange.."
"It's alright, Hanzo. It'll feel weird opening up at first, but you'll get used to it the more you do it. You're making great steps by talking about your situation. Like I said, I'll gladly listen to you again. Is that what you want to do?"
Hanzo took in Niran's words, he didn't want to completely stray from the whole reason he was here in the first place. But he also felt like that decision was best for now. He either had to go through with it or fall back.
"Actually, Niran. I have something else that is bothering me." Hanzo began to grow uneasy as what he wanted to admit was going to be spoken.
"Oh, what is it?" Niran just smiled, Hanzo didn't like it. He was going to admit to something and all Niran could do was smile?
"The strange feeling I mentioned... actually, nevermind." He backed out.
"No, please do tell."
"You don't get it.." Hanzo frowned, "It's best I don't speak on it."
Niran frowned, "Hanzo, you can't just keep your feelings to yourself. It'll only end up hurting you."
Hanzo started taking steps to get closer to him, "Oh, Niran.. you really don't know how much you annoy me."
He looked at him confused, his eyebrows furrowed. "What do you me- mmph."
Niran's eyes widen as Hanzo grabbed his collar, pulling him into a kiss. His eyes later relaxed once he realized what was going on. A kiss from Hanzo was least expected but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
It ensured that getting with Hanzo increased his chances away from zero. Niran was glad he could finally express his feelings despite admitting to not falling for him.
Hanzo, on the other hand later realized what he'd done a bit into the kiss. He immediately pulled away, now seeing Niran's red face.
"Well.. that was.. something." Niran muttered, unable to contain his flustered face.
"I- I apologize.." Hanzo said quickly before leaving the room. Niran wasn't able to get a word out as he left before he could say anything.
Niran was left there, blushing and confused. That moment was the last thing he expected, it excited him but it also left him wondering. Did Hanzo really like him? He had to, right? Why else would he kiss him? But what was he going to do about promising to not gain feelings? That was a broken promise in itself, but Niran still had hope.
He laid on his bed and hugged the pillow that Hanzo used to sleep with some nights ago. He was like a teenage girl going through the fulfilled crush phase. This night was going to be the best night for Niran.
Hanzo on the other hand had returned to his room. He found the act stupid of him to do. Did he like Niran? Hanzo wasn't exactly sure. He knew kissing was something people do when they like each other, although he's done it before with people he had no feelings for. He couldn't fully understand why he went back on asking Niran about his feeling but kissing him instead.
He worried it could cause confusion. Hanzo felt it was best to pretend it never happened, but would Niran do the same? This situation was bothering him even more than before.
Whatever the thoughts of both men are after that current event. It was going to lead into something greater...
