12. Something For The Sting

Hanzo's nap was cut short, he couldn't stop thinking about something, or in this case, someone. It annoyed him, why was this happening? He tried thinking of ways he could get the thought out, or at least show their relationship was purely professional and platonic.

Hanzo left his room and looked in the direction Niran's room was, he decided to see if he was there. It currently the evening, so not late to the point he could be asleep. Hanzo entered in the code and the door opened. There was no sight of Niran. He walked into the room and looked around, nothing.

Only place left was the bathroom, each room had a small one. He walked towards it and opened the door, although he expected it to be empty since the room was, he didn't expect the sight he saw.

He did find Niran, he was right in front of him. Only in a towel that covered his lower half, he saw Niran's face once he turned his head to look at him, he had a face mask on. Hanzo wasn't really sure how to react in any way.

"I- I apologize for my intrusion." Hanzo quickly said, collecting himself.

"It's alright but it is a bit awkward, don't you know it's rude not to knock?" Niran joked, Hanzo turned red slightly with embarrassment.

Hanzo cleared his throat, "Anyways, I was wondering if you'd like to practice your combat skills. In case anything happens, of course." he said. "If there's multiple enemies, or if I fail... I want to make sure you're capable of protecting yourself."

"Alright," Niran agreed. "Are you going to leave now?"

"Right." Hanzo quickly left the room, ending that awkward interaction.

He stood outside of Niran's room, waiting for him to get out so he could train him. This is definitely something to get his mind off of things. What Niran said still lingered in his mind. Training could probably distance themselves, away from love

Niran finally came out of the room and noticed Hanzo, "Were you waiting for me? Hopefully I didn't take long."

"No, you didn't. Now let's go." He started walking and Niran followed him.

Hanzo took Niran to the training room, some call it the combat room sometimes. Whatever the name was, it was where he was going to train Niran to protect himself. Just in case he can't himself. Once there he turned to look at Niran.

"Have you done any sort of combat training? Or self defense?" Hanzo asked.

"No, I didn't have the need to. But now I see I do"

"We'll start with the basics then."

"Should I prepare? Maybe a stance or weaponry? Or maybe my current clothing isn't suitable."

"No, it's fine. However I am interested on weapon usage, have you used a weapon before?" Hanzo asked.

"I've made my own weapon, I assumed I could create thorns with my biolight. Should I show you?" Niran smiled a bit

Hanzo looked at him curiously, "Go ahead, you've sparked my interest."

"Gladly, but I'm not really great with it yet." A small lotus flower charged up on his glove, "That's biolight, maybe..." Niran tried again, the thorns finally coming out.

Unfortunately, he didn't realize his hand angle, the thorns hitting something, someone. He heard a wince and looked towards Hanzo, thorns in his tattooed arm. He immediately felt remorse and went towards Hanzo.

"Hanzo, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to have the thorns hit you." Niran looked at him with worry.

He looked up at Niran, "It's fine, I'll just get Angela to get the thorns out."

"Or I can get them out for you. I'm sort of a medic myself, and it's the least I can do after hitting you with thorns." Niran gently put his hand on Hanzo's shoulder.

Hanzo thought about his offer, but knew if he rejected it'd just make Niran feel worse. His stubbornness would also bother him, that's something he wanted to avoid. "Fine,"

Niran smiled as Hanzo agreed, both of them went to the medical wing. Hanzo sat on one of the beds while Niran got tweezers and bandages, as well as other stuff to help Hanzo's wounds.

"You'll just feel a sting when I pull the thorns out, it won't be painful." Niran explained.

"I've been through worse, it can't be that bad."

"Just wanted to be sure."

Niran held the tweezers as he carefully pulled out each thorn in Hanzo's arm. He was slow and careful to not cause any more pain than he already did. Hanzo watched as Niran took the thorns out, Niran was right about there being a stinging feeling when the thorns were pricked out. But something else began to bother him; the closeness of Niran.

Hanzo didn't know why this felt different, especially for a man. It was weird. Was it his odd style? Hanzo couldn't fully criticize Niran revealing his chest when he's done the same before.

"Hanzo, I'm sorry again for hurting you." Hanzo's train of thought stopped when he heard Niran speak.

"It's fine, really." Hanzo said quietly. He didn't even notice that Niran was almost done with his wound, he finished up bandaging his arm.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"I hope so." He finished the bandaging, "It'll probably heal quickly, the thorns luckily didn't go in too deep." He smiled.

Hanzo stood up from the medical bed, "Thank you.."

"You're welcome, maybe once your arm is better you can teach me how to fight." Niran suggested.

"No," Hanzo said, "I think you're able to defend yourself. Even without my help."

Niran looked at him with a bit of shock and confusion, "Am I not an amateur? Fighting is not my strong suit."

"I trust you can, trick your enemies with those thorns. Make it seem like you're defenseless, then that is when you strike."

Niran thought about it, "So... I trick my enemies? That's how I'll combat?" Hanzo nodded, "Right then, I suppose I'll do that."

"Good, if you wish I will train you. If you want."

"I'd like that, actually."
