11. Confrontation
Angela had told Niran how her conversation with Hanzo went, the things he said and how he acted. It hurt Niran to know that Hanzo may no longer be his body guard, he felt like he ruined things between them so early. His feelings for Hanzo did influence the way he felt, he had to make things right one way or another. Just before Hanzo could speak to Morrison about his decision.
He had to act quickly. Even with the amount of time he had spent with Hanzo, Niran knew how quick he was to make a decision. He searched and asked others where they've seen Hanzo, like he usually did. You'd think he'd know where Hanzo frequent on base, but no.
Finally, Cassidy had told him that Hanzo was in his room, saying that was last he saw Hanzo. Also telling Niran that once Hanzo's in his room, he doesn't get out for a while.
Niran goes to Hanzo's room and knocked on the door, feeling anxiousness creep up on him. Waiting to see if Hanzo would open the door or not, let him talk or come in for a private conversation. Niran just wanted to make things right with Hanzo, even if that meant tossing his feelings aside for a man he loves.
He didn't know how long he stood there, it felt like forever but it was just a minute. Time moves slowly when your brain is going crazy. Hanzo opened the door and saw Niran.
He sighed, "What do you want, I'm trying to take a nap." Hanzo said.
"Oh- my apologies. I thought I could talk to you for a moment? I promise it'll be quick." Niran looked at Hanzo with hope in his eyes, wanting him to accept the request.
Hanzo noticed those eyes and sighed once again before letting him in. "Make sure it's quick,"
Niran walked into the room, fragments of that day reminded him of his failed plan. Something he thought would work to bring them closer only pulled them apart. Maybe now things will just be a straight unbroken line. Nothing to pull it for the line to snap, nothing the ruin the line be pushing it close together. He just had to remember their status, the one guarding and the one being guarded.
"Hanzo, I want to apologize to you about that night. I had no intentions of tricking you or anything. I thought we could've bonded?" Niran explained in his apology. "Maybe become friends, I don't know. But please stay my bodyguard, I promise I won't catch any feelings or anything."
Hanzo listened but the last thing Niran said caught him off guard, feelings? Hanzo never thought of that scenario, not even once.
"What do you mean by that?" Hanzo asked. "You like me?"
Niran realized his mistake, but this could be a good opportunity to start losing his feelings for Hanzo. Getting rejected might just help, but it did need some explaining.
"I- well," He sighed, "Hanzo, I need to tell you something but please don't look at me differently."
Hanzo crossed his arms, "What you are going to admit can't be worse than the things I've done, go on."
"Hanzo, I can get feelings for anyone, not just women but men too, and everyone else. I'm only worried you'd be different towards me because you could be someone I catch feelings for." Niran admitted, internally dying inside. "But I'll do my best to not catch feelings for you, if that makes you comfortable."
"That's it?" Hanzo blurted which caught Niran off guard. "I thought it'd be something much worse. Niran, I don't hate people for their sexuality."
"That's.. good to know, but Hanzo this isn't how you respond to someone who comes out to you."
"What did you want then?"
"... not sure, n-nevermind." Niran was glad to just get it out of his system, "I'll let you take your nap now, I said what I needed to." Niran was about to leave the room but stopped when Hanzo spoke,
"I'll stay your body guard." Hanzo said and Niran turned to look at him, surprised.
"You are?"
"Yes, I made my decision. I was being a bit childish pushing you away. I have a duty, and that's guarding you."
Hearing that made Niran's face brighten up, he smiled. "Thank you, Hanzo." and with that, he left the room.
Hanzo watched as Niran left, and to be honest, he did feel a bit off about Niran coming out to him. Sure, Niran said he wouldn't fall for him but the slight chance he does, Hanzo wasn't sure how to go by that.
What if Niran confessed to him? Rejecting women was easy for him but he never had the experience to reject a man. Is it the same or different? Man, woman, they're human either way. He was glad Niran could reveal something so heavy to him. Even for Hanzo, he envied something about him once again. But there was something he was rejecting himself that has yet to be revealed.
