THE EX LOVE
GOODBYE MY LOVE

"BUT I HAVE TO LET YOU GO"
"GOODBYE, KLAUS"
Klaus Mikaelson was restless. Arabella had no intention of speaking to him anytime soon. But, his son, Kieran was trying to have a father and son relationship. It crossed Klaus' mind to use his son to her her back but he could never do that to his son. He was the only person who didn't completely hate him. He wanted to win Arabella over cleanly but he also knew he couldn't do that with Kai trying to keep him away from her. Her father, Lucifer also hated Klaus more than anyone else. It was understandable. After all, Klaus broke his daughters heart.
Arabella was thinking about Klaus. Lately, that was all she could think about. But not in the way that says 'I want to go back with him'. More of like, was it safe to allow her son near him? She knew Klaus wouldn't intentionally hurt him. But he had the tendency to hurt those around him whether he meant it or not. But he did love his sons. After all, Kian and Kieran were his children with Arabella the woman he loved and still loves. To him, it doesn't matter how much time goes by, Arabella will always be the love of his life. He loved her and she loved him. But unfortunately for him, she now loves Kai Parker, her husband and father of her children.
It was a sunny day. Arabella decided to take a day off work and just walk around town. She stopped at her favorite coffee shop. It was hidden but those who grew up in Mystic Falls knew it was the best place to grab coffee. She ordered her usual and sat on the table right in the corner. As she took a sip of her drink she looked out the window. She was deep in her thought that she didn't hear her mother arriving at the coffee shop. When she turned back her mother was already sitting in front of her. "Hello, mother" Arabella greeted Evangeline.
"My sweet child. What troubles you?" she asked. "Klaus" she answered. Her mother let out a sigh. She knew Klaus was always a delicate topic. "What about Klaus?" she asked. "He's back as you know" she starts. Her mother waits for her to continue. "Everything's been a mess since he returned. Apparently, he's trying to win me back. I thought Papa Lucy was just messing with me but it turns out he was right. A few days later Klaus showed up at the school with flowers and all. Then, he interrupted our family lunch and trust me, Kai was not having it" Evangeline just stared at her daughter.
Arabella was always peaceful and calm. She tried to solve the fights between Lucifer and Michael by talking and it always worked, until the end when it didn't and Lucifer was cast down. She was angry for awhile. No one had ever seen her that angry in their lives. It was worry some. Zeus and Evangeline didn't know what to do. She was angry that her uncle Michael for throwing her uncle Lucifer into the cage. She was angry at her grandfather because he wouldn't allow her to see him. She almost waged war on him, but her grandfather forbade her from seeing him. But as the stubborn person she was, she found a way to break in and get into the cage. She couldn't get him out but she could go in and visit her favorite uncle.
The whole Klaus situation was a different deal. They weren't single people trying to figure things out. Arabella was now a married woman with kids and a husband. There was a time where she could have done anything for Klaus Mikaelson. She loved him, and she had loved him for years. Before continuing their conversation Arabella thought it was best to go back to school. They arrived back at school and they both headed to her office. "I think, Klaus and I need to have a long conversation" she says out of the blue. "But, I mean a conversation that says Klaus and I will not get back together" she adds and her mother nods. Her mother was about to reply when they are interrupted by a knock.
Her assistant pokes her head in. "Mr. Mikaelson is here to see you. Should I let him in?" she asks and Arabella nods. "Will you give us a minute, mom?"she asked. Her mom kissed her cheek and walked out. But before glaring daggers at Klaus. Klaus walked in and sat down. "What can I do for you, Klaus?" she asked. "I want to talk" he stated. She motioned for him to sit down. "What do you want to talk about?" she asked smiling. "About us" he replied, and her smile instantly dropped. "Klaus" she says and lets out a sigh. "Before you say there is no us, I know you're right. There hasn't been an us in eighteen long years" he started. The way he looked at her, made her feel vulnerable. As if he was looking into her beautiful indigo eyes and could see all she suffered.
"I know we stopped being an us, the moment I left town for New Orleans. I wanted to come back and beg for your forgiveness" now it was her turned to look at him. Outside, Kai, Lucifer, Evangeline, her kids and Hope were listening. "I loved you and even after all this years I still do. And I know you're married now, kids and a husband. You have the life I wish we could have had together. I don't regret my daughter. My hope. She gave me the hope I always needed and now have. Rebekah was furious when she found out what I did. Elijah wanted to put a dagger on my chest for breaking your heart. But no one hated me, more than I hated myself. You were and still are the love of my life, even if I'm not yours" Kai wanted to burst in there but he knew this conversation had to happen. It was the only way Klaus could finally let go of her and Arabella could let go of the anger she had. Even when she had said she forgave him, she didn't. Not completely anyway.
Arabella was angry. "How can you say that to me?" her tone sounded angry.
"I trusted you. I loved you. I did everything for you. Yet, at the end you betrayed me" Klaus looked down. "And I waited for you, to explain it. To tell me that you loved me. To tell me you had made the worst mistake of your life. I waited for you to come back to me and our sons. But you never did. So, I moved on. Kian and Kieran needed me, they didn't have a father but they had me. They don't need you and they never have. And yes, I loved you. But stefan was there. Helping me. Being there for me. Then, he died. I thought fate was cruel. That perhaps I just wasn't meant to be in love" tears began to fall, but then she smiled. "Then, there was Kai Parker. I never knew of his real feelings for me. That was until Stefan had to run from Rayna. I had just given birth. Kai, stood by me, he supported me but I only had eyes for Stefan. He was all I had and all I ever wanted" she stopped for a second.
"But, Kai... Kai was different. He was lost, he had lost the ones he loved just like me. We used to laugh and say we were the perfect pair. We didn't know it at the time but he was right. I love him. I love him so much that if I were to loose him, I would die of a broken heart. You and I, we were in love and happy. But that was along time ago. A long time has passed now. It's time to move on and get on with our lives. I wouldn't change anything in my life. No matter what. You have your daughter, brothers and sisters. You don't need anything else. You don't need me, Klaus. You never had" she states. Klaus doesn't say anything, he just stares at her, trying to find the right words to reply.
"When I arrived here, I thought of the many ways I could ask for your forgiveness. But nothing came. There was nothing I could say that would've eased the pain I caused. And you're right. There hasn't been an us for a really long time. It's time for me to let you go" he said sadly. Tears were forming in his eyes. "But you had no right to keep my children from me" he stated. "Not a right, no. An obligation" she replied. "Because I was a monster?" he asked. "I did it to protect them. Not you, or anyone else. Them. Even if you, or them hate me" she replied once again. "I'm never gonna stop fighting for them. But I have to give up on you. You deserve all the happiness you got. Kai is a lucky man" she smiled.
"They're your sons. Kian is all you. Through and through. He has your temper, your eyes, your smile. But he's also artistic, he loves to draw and paint, he enjoys good music. Kian and Marcel often argue about music. Kieran is more like me. More peaceful and calm. But when he's mad, nothing can stop him. Kieran like his brother loves art and he enjoys music. But he prefers to play the piano or play the guitar. I know I kept them from you. But like I once said you're family it's a like a magnet that pulls danger everywhere they go. I wasn't gonna let me kids be in the middle of it" she stated.
Klaus simply nodded. He walked to where she sat and kneeled in front of her. He grab her hands. "I love you, Arabella. And I'm always gonna love. Until the end of my days. But, I have to let you go" Arabella could see the tears in his eyes.
"You were my savior. You made me believe that I was worth saving. You always had the best and kind intentions" he caressed her cheek. "You made me the happiest man on earth. Happier than I had ever been in the thousand years I had been alive. Be happy, my Bella" he kissed her cheek and vamp-speed out. He didn't want anyone to see the big bad hybrid in tears. Arabella was still in the same place Klaus had left her. After a few seconds the tears finally rolled down. "Goodbye, Klaus" she whispered.
