THIRD POV

As she expected the next day Klaus showed up asking for an explanation. Klaus had shown up alone to her surprise. For the first five minutes they just sat in silence. It was a comfortable silence not awkward like they both had expected. "Why?" Klaus asked. "Your family is always causing trouble. You have thousands of enemies everywhere. I considered telling you but by the time I wanted to you were long gone" she stopped for a second.

"You didn't come back and apologize or anything. You simply left. And then to my luck I heard the surprising news. Klaus Mikaelson was gonna be a father to a beautiful little girl. And then she "died". I felt so bad because you had lost your daughter but that made me realized that I had to protect my sons, even if that meant protecting them from you, their father. And you can blame me and hate me if you want to. But I did what I had to to keep my sons safe. And you know what they were and they always have been my top priority" she told him.

"Perhaps it was selfish of me to had kept them from you. But look at Hope. How much she had to suffer because of all the enemies you had made. I wasn't gonna let my children have the same fate as her" she stated. Klaus didn't speak again. He was processing what she had told him. He wanted to hate her but she was right. Hope had spent her entire life hidden and running away because of her family's enemies. "They know about you. They always have. Since they were little. I told them the good things about you. The good things I knew and had seen about Klaus Mikaelson. Not the big bad hybrid but Klaus. But of course I couldn't keep anything hiding. Other people had very open opinions about you, especially Damon" she said with a smile, one that he returned.

"I want to be involved in their lives" Klaus stated. "Well, that's not up to me. It's up to them really. If that's what they want. They will allow you to be involved in their lives. But I won't force them" she told him and he nodded. Again they were in a comfortable silence. "I am sorry you know?" he said/asked. She didn't reply she just stared at him. "I don't know how Hayley and I happened. I loved you and even after all this time I still do. I wish things would've turned out different. I love Hope and I wouldn't change her for anything in the world. She made a better person" Arabella just smiled.

When Klaus broke her heart she hated him. Well, not really. She could be mad at someone but she could never hate anyone even if she wanted to. That was a beautiful gift according to her. Everyone else thought it was a curse because she was too forgiving. "I know. A long time has passed Klaus. We're different people. I'm the same person I was when we first met a thousand years ago, and almost eighteen years ago. I've changed and grown as a person, and so have you. And I'm happy that you're happy" she stated with a smile meaning she meant it.

"You're a married woman now, huh?" Klaus asked and she nodded. "Ten years as of last week" she replied. That broke Klaus' heart. He had hope that once he returned maybe, just maybe they could pick up we're they left of. Of course he knew he had to earn her forgiveness and trust but she was married and happy. "Are you happy?" he asked. "Very happy" she replied and he knew she meant it. "I'll walk you out" she offered and he nodded. On the way out they found Kian and his siblings going to their mothers office.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Kian asked and his mother just closed her eyes waiting for his outburst. "I just wanted to speak to your mother about so important matters" Klaus replied. Kian wanted to say more but his mother intervened. "Kian that's enough!" she scold her son. "You're defending him? After everything he did?" Kian asked in disbelief. She let out a sigh. "I just want to avoid trouble" Kian just scoff and Kieran was close to loosing it. Kian started to mutter a spell and when he lifted his hands his mother stood in front of Klaus and was thrown across the room.

At the moment, Kai, Damon, Alaric, Elijah, Kol, Rebekah, Finn and Freya were walking in and just saw Arabella get thrown across the room. Everyone was quiet until Alexander rushed to his mother. Kieran didn't want to look at his brother because he knew he was gonna say something he would regret later. So instead he rushed to help his mother. Kian tried to help her but Alex stopped him. "I think you've done enough for today, Kian" said Alex before walking with Kieran. His mother stop walking and turned to her son. She motion for him to follow her.

"Mom, you got hurt" Kieran told her. "I'm gonna be fine. I heal faster than anyone" she told him. Kian walked over and follow her to her office. The others wanted to follow but she stopped them at the door. "You guys are waiting outside" she told them and they were about to complain when she close the door. She sat on her desk and looked at her son, who was looking anywhere else but her. "Now are you gonna tell me what's going on? Or are you gonna keep throwing temper tantrums?" Arabella asked.

Arabella wasn't the type of mother that would often scold her children. It was rare but since Klaus's return she found herself scolding her oldest son more often than she liked. "I hate him. And you act like he didn't break your heart" he answers. "So you hate him because he broke my heart?" Arabella asked and he nodded. "You are aware that all that happened eighteen years ago. I don't love Klaus anymore. I'm a married woman. I'm married to an amazing man. I act civil with Klaus because of his daughter because no matter what Klaus and I will always be connected because of you and Kieran" she explained.

"I'm a grown woman Kian. What's in the past stays in the past. I forgave Klaus so I could move on with my life and be happy" she added. "You can't hate Klaus for what he did to me. He didn't know you and your brother even existed. No matter what he would've fought for you" she told him. On the outside everyone could hear their conversation. "Oh yeah? Like he fought for you?" Kian asked. "Why do you keep bringing that up? That had nothing to do with you" she told him and Kian looked upset. "I'm not mad because he wasn't here for me and Kieran. I'm mad because he broke your heart. He hurt you. You" he pointed at his mother.

Kian love his brothers and sister but he loved his mother even more. "He was supposed to love you and protect you. If he didn't love you and protect you why would I expect him to do the same for me? Klaus Mikaelson doesn't care about anyone that's not his family. You think that because he has a daughter now he's a good person. I don't want him near me. If Kieran wants to accept him then that's his choice. But I choose to be away from him" Kian said before walking away. He tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge because his mother had locked it.

"Sit down" she ordered and he obliged. "What is this really about?" Arabella asked. "Klaus left you, alone and pregnant. And I get it, he didn't know. But he didn't come back to even apologize. I don't want him anywhere near you because he still loves you. And I know you love dad but that doesn't mean Klaus can't love you" she smiles at her son. "Come here" she says as she opens her arms for him to hug her. He gives her a hug and lays on her chest as she plays with his hair.

"Klaus and I go way back. A thousand years or so. We were friends and until 2011 we became more than friends. And yes he cheated. But that happened along time ago. I healed from that. I had to. For you and your brother. I wanted to be the best mother for you two. So that you wouldn't have the need for Klaus. I was gonna tell you when you were old enough to understand. I wasn't gonna keep a secret and when I knew you and Kieran could understand I talked about your father. I know many see Klaus as a monster and I know he was but he has changed. Parenthood changes people. It makes us want to be better. Not for us but for our children" she stops and kisses the top of his head.

"I know that if Klaus had known about you and your brother he would've loved to be in your life. I made a choice. I choose to keep you a secret from him because of his enemies. Like I told him, maybe this makes me a selfish person but I wanted to keep you safe even if that meant keeping you safe from him and his family. You and Kieran have a choice to make. You can allow Klaus into your lives or not. You don't have to decide now but in the future you might change your mind" she told him and he nodded.

Then he began to cry and she was confused. "What's wrong, sweetheart?" Arabella asked. "I was so blind by rage that I hurt you" he replies. "That was my fault. I stood in front of him. But it's fine, Kian. I'm okay" she told him but he didn't stop crying. "I love you, mom" he told her as he held her close to him. "I love you too, sweetheart" she replied with a kiss on the head. A few minutes later Kian fell asleep and Kieran walked in. "Is he okay now?" Kieran asked and she nodded. She patted the empty space next to her for Kieran to sit.

"Don't be so hard on your brother. You know he has a hard time expressing his emotions. And I know he makes you mad but just have patient, okay? Everything will be fine. I know you heard the conversation" she told him and he nodded. "I just wanted you guys to grow up in a safe and protected environment" she stated he took her hand and kissed it. "I know, mom. And I know Kian knows it too. You've done everything for all of us. You've always made sure we were safe. And for that we're always gonna be grateful. We love you so much, mom" he told his mom who smiled. "I love all of you so much too" she replied.

The three of them fell asleep in her office. When the others went to check on them they found a cute sight in front of them. Arabella, Kian and Kieran were sound asleep. The others decided to let them get the well deserved nap they needed. Tomorrow was a new day and no one knew what kind of day it would be. A good day or bad day?
