"MARCUS...Marcus..." tears were spilling out of the teenage boy's eyes while he held, the young black-haired girl in his arms. There was no blood, no sign of dire injuries, the only indication for it was the elegant silver blade that had been deeply embedded into her small chest. "Marcus...promise me something...." her delicate voice suddenly murmured, as he saw the way her graceful hand was reaching out to grab him and he took her hand a moment later, giving it a soft and gentle squeeze, tears escaping his eyes.

"Yes..?" He questioned quietly, his voice thick of tears as he looked into her glamorous gleaming red eyes, his heartbreaking more and more as he watched the glow fading away by every second that passed. "Please promise me... to never forget me..." she whimpered, her hand squeezed his now as she spoke her death wish. "I will never forget you..." the boy instantly replied. The girl's porcelain white skin was glistening in the moonlight. "I love you...." She whispered before the glow in her eyes had faded out completely, a last and lonely tear ran down on her skin by the side of her right eye, as her hand slid out of his to drop onto the ground, the icy look in her eyes, almost seemed as if she was simply gazing into his ocean blue orbs, yet he knew she would never speak or breathe again.

She was gone. Forever.

Present Day
Magnikai

It had been 4 years by now.
Since the happenings of the great dark war.
The war between the humans and a species of dark creatures that no one had believed were even of existence ten years before the war. A dark army led by the dark lord.

It had been a devastating time, a time in which just fear, misery and extinction existed. The dark lord that led his demonic creatures were feeding on the human civilization, the same way that humans drank water. They took everything from them, their loved ones, their friends, their lawns and ultimately their lives. And it all happened within days and weeks. They were powerful, they had everything the humans didn't have. Superiority. Darkness and most importantly knowledge about their imperfections as it only took them a few months to almost annihilate the absoluteness of humanity.

Leaving only a few thousands of them while were a million of demons, led by the dark lord whose heart was oe of stone. Those humans that were left to live began battling back, began teaching their children, teenagers behind warriors, childhoods were a thing of the past and soldiers of any age sent into battle. The Royals were selected and one explicit family was chosen to govern on the tribes that were left.

Within all these vicious creatures there was one demonic being to have been left with still a beating heart, with still human emotions. Her name was Mia, the girl Marcus loved. She was one of the enemies, but she was unique. She wasn't bitter like all the other demons not as brutal as her father, the demon king and they had fallen in love. They were trying to reject it because their destiny was that, never in a thousand years would they ever be happy together. It was a condemnation. They could never be together because Marcus Testrias was human and the only left son of the man who was the leader, the chosen king of the last tribes of humanity and Mia was a demon and the daughter of the dark lord.

There was no hope for their friendship and no hope at all for their devotion. But not even in the beginning of their story they had known that. Of the horrendous curse that had been put between any demon and any human whose relationships were to become intimate. They had no clue of it all but as time passed, those secrets were uncovered. The way to end loathing the dark lord was waging against humanity would only end with the demise of one of the lovers, by the hand of the one they desired.

Marcus and Mia knew one of them had to die if they were to fall for each other. The refusal of accepting their love for one another was an unthinkable fact, it was unacceptable. They were two star-crossed lovers who weren't meant to be together. Their love story was fated to end in tragedy. And ultimately it did. As they made their decision. The decision of who was to be the one to be lost to save what was left of humanity.

"You are human, Marcus. You were born to fight for your life and to live. I'm not human, I was built of darkness, of death, of anguish, into a horrible world of danger. I was born to be ruled by barbarity, born to succumb. Let it be my doom to do a good deed as the last one I will ever do"

...were the words that Mia uttered to him on that one night on the battlefield as blazes of fire and frightened screams of atrocity and feud were enclosing them.

It was that one silver dagger, the one dagger that shone in the light of the fullest moon, that Marcus took into his hands, that dagger that had elegant roses carved within its handle that would end her life, as Marcus despite his praying to not have to do this cruel move, thrust into her heart, deeply and instantly, not causing her the physical pain that would send her to a shocking death. He had terminated lives before but he was well aware that this death would be the one to torment him as long as he lived.

Even now, 4 years after his true love's death he still grieved for her and he still cherished her. She died as a hero, she always wanted to be. She always wished to be, even for humanity.

Mia had been this one girl that was his glimmer in the gloom of the war, she was his faith, she was the reason why he didn't coverup after the cruel death of his mother years back, she brought back his smile, his courage, and the prosperity he had lost in times of war. As much as he yearned for her to come back one day, he knew she wouldn't. She was gone.

As the oracle's power vowed, the war ceased after Mia's death.

And with her demise, humanity was endowed with yet another marvel, the godsend of rebirth. Though it wasn't much of resurrection, it was much more the mutation of more than half of humanity. Those who were thought to have fallen in the war, returned, like a rain, evidently fully made of gold, coated the soils of the earth, each demon that had fallen awoke, however as they did, they no longer were wearing the looks of a vicious beast. They were humans, as it turned out that more than half of humanity hadn't perished.

They were only condemned, coerced to live in the body of a monster and to skirmish as one.

Loved ones returned to their families and even Marcus got to reunite with close friends he believed he had lost and his family was gifted with the blessing of their queen returning, his dear mother whom he had wept for so long. But Mia didn't return.

Despite the fact he reunited with his loved ones.... something was incomplete and he could feel it, it was as if someone broke away a part of his heart and hid it somewhere as if someone had hurled it into the big broad ocean to make apparent to him that he will never have this segment of his heart again, this piece is Mia, not even the necklace he took from her dead body would be able to replace what was gone.

      He loved Mia back then
      He loved her yesterday
      He loves her today...

...and the promise of never forgetting her..he will stay true to that promise until his own life ends.
