CHAPTER THREE:
โ๏ธIt's A Dateโ๏ธ
TIME MOVED WITHIN THE BLINK OF AN EYE, ALASKA REALIZED. She didn't remember going home, hell she didn't remember every leaving the school building, but what she did remember was walking through those double doors that Tuesday morning and smiling gently at the kids that were buzzing with life, talking to each other about upcoming plans, or how much they hated a certain class, whilst also violently slamming their lockers in the process. She never understood why people made it a habit to slam the metal doors, it always gave her a headache.
Classes went by in a blur, and even so Alaska couldn't help but notice how every single one of them sucked. All of the teachers seemed to ignore her, every time she raised her hand to answer a question, they would simply look right over her and call on someone else. And it hurt her ego just a little bit each time. When lunch time came around, she found herself unable to eat and decided to just sit outside and enjoy the sunshine that was shining so brightly that morning.
The dark haired girl allowed the sun to bathe her face, leaning back on the bench she was sitting on and closing her eyes as she crossed her legs, sitting on her feet. She enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors, the birds chirping, the wind whistling, the wolf howlingโ๏ธher eyes snapped open at the thought. A deep frown quickly pulling at her lips. A wolf? She was positive that California didn't have any wolves, so why did that of all things come to mind? She shook the uneasy thought from her mind and instead focused on the person that had cleared their throat.
Alaska turned her head at the noise, before the frown that had been placed on her lips turned into a beautiful and breathtaking smile. Liam swore that he could stare at her smile all day. His heart seemed to beat rapidly in his chest the longer that he looked at her gorgeous smile, and he forced himself to clear his throat again out of nervousness once his eyes met hers. He didn't know why he had decided to come out here, all he knew was that she had been sitting out here all alone, and he wanted to come and join her.
ย ย ย "Liam, isn't it?" Alaska questioned him, her voice still as soft and delicate as it had been the day before. Listening to his name leave her mouth made the poor teenage boy shift slightly in embarrassmentโ๏ธ he swore he could feel his cheeks warming up. He shook his head slightly, wondering why this girl that he knew absolutely nothing about besides her name was making his heart race faster than it has ever before. Liam placed a smile of his own onto his face as he looked the brunette before he nodded towards the bench beside her.
ย ย ย "Care if I join you?" He carefully questioned.
ย ย ย "I would love that." Alaska smiled at him once more before she was quick to move over some, allowing him enough room to sit on the bench. Alaska waited for him to get situated before she nodded her head back towards the school. "Why aren't you eating with your friends?" She cocked her head slightly, eyebrows furrowing in confusion as she allowed for the palms of her hands to grip gently onto the edge of the bench as if she would fall off if she leaned forwards too much.
ย ย ย "I was." Liam admitted with the nod of his head. "But, as I was eating, I saw you sitting out here all by yourself and I didn't think you would mind the company. Plus, I'm starting to get sick and tired of Mason finding someway shape or form to talk about. . ." he stuttered on his words, forgetting for a moment that this friend of hisโ๏ธwere they friends?โ๏ธ was someone that actually didn't know anything about the supernatural. And he had a feeling that she would freak out if she did find out. "To t-talk about, uh, chemistry. Mhm, yeah, chemistry."
ย ย ย "I hate chemistry." Alaska groaned, rolling her eyes as she let her back press against the bench. A scowl managed to fall on her lips at the mention of the subject, and Liam had a feeling that the girl really did hate chemistry more than anything else. "At my old school, is was my absolute worst subject. I would still getting a passing grade and everything, the concepts and subjects just always messed with my head and I didn't like it whatsoever. I hate it more than I hate math, and if you know me, then you'd know that math and I don't get along."
ย ย ย That was the thing, he didn't know her. But he wanted to. He really did. But what would he say? Would he ask her her favorite color? Or was that too clichรฉ? He didn't know, but nonetheless he allowed himself to nod his head in agreement. He just needed to be causal about this he realized, and so he tried his very best to be. But, Liam Dunbar, and casual questions, definitely didn't go hand in hand. "Well, I don't know you. But I'd like to." He stuttered. "I mean. . . if that's alright with you, I'd understand if you didn't want to talk to some random kid that you just met twenty-four hours ago, now that I think about it, maybe I should've waited a little while to ask that, or I justโ๏ธmaybe I should just shut up. Yeah, I'm gonna do that."
ย ย ย Alaska watched him with amusement, a gentle laugh fell from her lips. "Liam, it's not like you're asking me out or anything." Which, she wouldn't mind if he did. "Afterschool. You can show me the town, and we can play a game of twenty questions."
ย ย ย "It's a date. I meanโ๏ธnot a date. I mean, like, yeah, that's good. We canโ๏ธwe can definitely do that."
ย ย ย Alaska chuckled again before she stood up. "I'll see you after school, Liam." And then she walked away, leaving Liam to silently mumble curses to himself.
