Everyone knows that Vicki Donovan likes to party. It's all she's ever known with the way her family raised her. Her mom spends most of her time in Virginia beach with Pete—her new boyfriend who drives trucks—when she's not at home and wasted for the entire time before she runs off again. She doesn't remember her dad, but from what she gathers, he's not worth remembering. She's the screwed up one. Matt's got it so easy—he's the golden boy who is going get a football scholarship, marry Elena Gilbert, have a lawn mower and babies; but, when Vicki thinks of her future, she just comes up blank. The only thing she knows is how pathetic her life is and how she's considered nothing but damaged goods; and that she'll spend the remainder of her life chasing validation from boys since she can't get it from the people closest to her.

She knew from the beginning of her relationship with Tyler Lockwood that she was just a piece of ass to him, but she thought maybe if he got to know her better, he might see something more. But, no, that never happened and she was only ever the secret booty call that he would never bring home to meet his family—not like Hazel Gilbert, his ex-girlfriend. She's so over him because Jeremy, on the other hand, has only ever seen something more in her than that, and she likes that about him. When Matt used to date Elena, they were always together, so Jeremy would always be hanging around and crushing on her. It took a while—and a little influence from substances—until Vicki began to see him more than just her brother's girlfriend's little brother.

She thought they could be something more until Jeremy showed her that he was just like the others. He's the kid with the big house who's acting out because his parents died. He'll get over it and pull himself together, move on, and one day tell his kids stories about his dark period growing up; and she'll still be in Mystic Falls, waiting tables at the Grill, partying at the cemetery with a bunch of waste of space small-town lifers like herself.

So, when a tall, mysterious and handsome man invites her to his home to party, she can't help but say yes. She hopes he doesn't have a girlfriend because he's totally cool and so hot, and she doesn't want to be another secret for another guy who is acting out. She wants to be in love. She knows love can be painful and pointless and overrated... until it isn't. She believes one day she will find someone that will take her away from the life she knows and show her another. Until then, she's stuck in a loop of waking up in strange places with a raging headache and comedown from drugs and alcohol, barely remembering a thing she's done the night before—or who she's done it with.

When Vicki wakes up in the strangers house, feeling the cold wood on her skin from being on the floor in basically just her underwear, she groans and stretches out her limbs as they feel cramped up, "What happened?" She asked as she sits up, holding her neck as small pieces come back to her, "We were dancing, and then..."

"Then I killed you." He fills in the gaps of her memory with a smirk.

"What?" Vicki scoffs, sitting up more.

"You're dead." He confirms.

"I'm dead?" She can't understand a word that's coming out of his mouth, because she doesn't feel dead. If she was dead, she wouldn't be awake and talking.

Damon walks over towards her and sits down on a piece of furniture, "Yeah, well, let's not make a big deal out of it. You drank my blood, I killed you, and now you have to feed in order to complete the process."

Vicki scoffs. This is the last time she ever sleeps with a weirdo like this so she can avoid conversations like these, "You're wasted." She groans as she gets up off the floor to grab her clothes and leave.

"You don't wanna be out there all alone." Damon warns but she keeps walking towards the door. Suddenly, he appears in front of her and she gasps in shock, "You're about to get really freaky."

She sighs in annoyance and frustration that he won't get out of her way and now she's worried she has a stage-five-clinger on her hands, "Look, I had a really good time. I just wanna go home."

"You're gonna start craving blood, and until you get it, you're gonna feel very out of it. You have to be careful." He insists, continuing to block her exit.

"Come on, move." Vicki shoves him out of the way with a groan.

He chuckles, "See? you're already starting to fall apart."

"And I'm going home now."

Damon holds his hands up in surrender, "Okay, fine. I'm just warning you." He says before realising something and turns to her, "Actually, you know what? You should go—in fact, if I were you, I would stop by your boyfriend, Jeremy's, house."

"Yeah, whatever." Vicki says as she walks out.

"Bye. Tell Hazel and Elena I said hi, and if you see Stefan, tell him to call me." He smirks to himself.

Jeremy was in his room upstairs, the house empty from his siblings or his aunt when he hears the doorbell aggressively ring as if someone was having a seizure against it, "I'm coming!" He yells to whoever was on the other side while running down the stairs. He opens the door to see Vicki on the other side, "Hey."

She groans and walks inside, a pair of large sunglasses covering her face, "Ugh. The sun is killing me. My eyes are on fire." She complains as soon as she steps inside.

Jeremy closes the door behind her, "Where have you been?"

She waves him off, "It's good. Everything's good." She assures him before pulling him into a kiss. As they deepen the kiss she feels the urge to go towards his neck, and weirdly enough, she wants to bite. She gasps and pulls away.

"Did something happen?" Jeremy asks worriedly.

"I'm hungry." Vicki realises as she shoves past Jeremy and heads towards the kitchen, "What do you got to eat?"

Jeremy follows after her and watches as she rips the fridge door open and begins to pull out random things to eat onto the bench. He then realises what this erratic behaviour is, "You're high? Vicki, it's the middle of the day."

"Could you just not talk so loud?" Vicki snaps as she pulls out more things from the fridge, "My head, it hurts. I need quiet."

Jeremy watches as Vicki rips into her food and he holds his hands up and decides to leave her alone for now, and quickly goes up to his room to get his phone and dial Matt.

Within a few minutes, Matt arrived to the Gilbert residence and as soon as Jeremy opened the door and let him in, Matt asks, "Where is she?"

"Come this way." Jeremy leads him towards the kitchen, where Vicki was sat in the corner on the floor with scraps of food all around her and her sunglasses still on while she drinks from a soda can.

"What's she on?" Matt asks as he watches her. He's seen her in some states but he's never seen her this bad before.

"I... I don't know." Jeremy asks. It couldn't have been from anything he's given her and he's worried that she's taken too much of something or mixed it with something she shouldn't have.

Matt approaches her cautiously and squats down in front of her, taking her sunglasses off her face to see her eyes. She whines and shuts them instantly from the sunlight being too much for her, "Hey, Vick. How you doing?"

"Not good, Matty. I hurt." She whines with a frown on her face.

Matt isn't impressed with her, but he's still worried, "Okay, where's it hurt?"

"My gums." She answers, putting her finger onto her gum and frowning when it still hurts. She starts to cry a little bit, "My jaw hurts. My gum—there's something in my gums, and it hurts." Matt goes to pat her arm for comfort but she flinches away, "No. Just leave me alone."

"Come on, Vick. Don't be like that. You're okay. Let's get you home." Matt gives her a smile to try and cheer her up. She probably needs to sleep it off and she'll be better in a few days. She's probably just partied a bit too hard, more than she can normally handle.

"Just turn it off!" Vicki yells.

Matt looks at Jeremy for help as the younger Gilbert asks, "Turn what off?"

"The talking, the chatter, just turn it off." She snaps as she stands up and shoves Matt away from her, trying to run to another room when she finally hears the news story that was being played by Logan Fell.

Jeremy turns the volume up as they can't hear it and they finally hear Logan's voice, "The scene is straight out of a horror movie. Three bodies were found dead in what is believed to be a drug deal gone awry. The bodies have yet to be identified. They were discovered earlier today over at the old Mystic Falls cemetery. The police are baffled by this homicide and are fast under way looking for suspects. They're asking anyone with information..."

Jeremy's eyes widen as he recognises the area and sees Vicki crying, "That's where we were last night."

Matt turns to his sister, "What happened, Vick?" He asks but she doesn't answer, she just continues watching the screen with tears streaming down her face, "I'm calling the cops."

Vicki grabs him before he could get to the phone, "No, don't."

Jeremy walks over to her, "What happened after I left last night, Vick?" He asks but she only pushes Jeremy away, shoving him backwards into the dining table.

Matt runs over to him, "Jer, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I'm fine." Jeremy insists as he stands up.

"Damn, Vick." Matt says to his sister in disbelief. He's never seen her act like this.

Suddenly, Hazel, Elena and Stefan enter the house and walk into the room, seeing the commotion and Hazel was right by Jeremy's side to make sure he was okay while Elena asks, "What's going on?"

"She's really messed up." Matt answers, he isn't sure what to do anymore and he's almost afraid of her.

Hazel walks over to Vicki when she sees she's been crying to help her and Stefan realises what must be going on, "Hazel, back up." He orders gently and stands in between them immediately. He ignores the confused glances from everyone and grabs Vicki's face, "Vicki, look at me." He sees her and can tell immediately when he notices the symptoms, "Focus. You're gonna be fine. Everything's gonna be fine." Vicki nods and he turns to everyone else, "Guys, take her up to bed. Shut the blinds. She's gonna be okay. Come on. Come on."

Matt and Jeremy take Vicki upstairs immediately after hearing the urgency in Stefan's tone, leaving the twins to look at him in confusion, "You know what's wrong with her?" Hazel asks when she sees the panic look of Stefan's face and he only nods, "What is it?" She asks when he doesn't tell her straight away.

"She's transitioning." Stefan answers as he walks over to her.

"Transitioning to what?" Elena asks.

"A vampire." Stefan tells them and they gasp in shock, "Damon must have gotten to her. She's new. She hasn't completed her transformation yet."

"H—how does she do that?" Hazel asks in panic and fear.

Stefan hesitates to answer, "She has to feed on human blood."

"And what if she doesn't?" Hazel asks fearfully, almost as if she's afraid to hear the answer.

"She'll die." Stefan answers and their eyes widen. Vicki might have her problems, but, Hazel doesn't want her to die, "She may only have a few hours."

"Oh, my God. Jeremy." Hazel gasps as she realises that she needs to drink human blood, and she's currently in a room with Jeremy and Matt upstairs alone. Elena starts to pace as if she's contemplating whether she should go up there or not, "She's upstairs with him right now."

"It's okay. She doesn't know what's happening to her yet." Stefan assures her. He hopes that Damon hasn't told her how to complete the transition yet.

"So, when is she gonna know?" Elena asks as she continues to pace, pulling at her hair slightly.

"Right now, she doesn't remember anything. A part of her is still human, but, slowly, the deeper she gets into the transition, the memories will start to come back, and then she'll know she has to make the choice." Stefan explains.

Elena stops pacing and pulling at her hair as she turns around to face Stefan and ask, "The same choice you made?"

Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Vicki was in Jeremy's bed, his bed sheets wrapped around her for warmth as she began to feel cold. Jeremy was sat beside her, "I'm sorry I'm so much trouble." She cried.

"You just... you need to sleep it off, okay?" He suggests and presses a kiss to her forehead before standing up to leave and let her get some sleep. As he stands, Vicki grabs his arm and pulls him into a hug.

They continue hugging while Matt watches, leaving to give them some privacy. Both of them unaware that because her mouth is near his neck, she wants to bite him. She snaps out of it quickly and shoves Jeremy off of her, "No!" She exclaims as she gets up and runs out of the room and out of the house, ignoring the protests of Matt who was running after her.

Everyone ran outside of the house to see where she went as Jeremy says, "She was fine, and then she just... she just freaked out."

"I'm gonna go look for her. Call me if you hear anything." Matt says as he runs towards his truck.

Stefan turns to the twins, "I can track her." He says quietly to them while Matt starts his truck and drives off.

Knowing he's probably their best bet at finding Vicki before she hurts herself or anyone else, Hazel nods and says, "Go."

Stefan runs off in the direction of Vicki and Hazel grabbed onto an upset Jeremy to lead him inside to comfort him. The poor boy looked so torn up because he wasn't sure what was happening to her.

Elena and Hazel then began to clean up the mess that Vicki had made in the kitchen; throwing out the garbage and wiping down the surfaces from all the crumbs that had scattered everywhere, and it was less than an hour when they began doing that, that Jeremy suggested, "Maybe we should check in with Matt."

"He'll call when he finds her." Hazel assures him. She knows their friend well enough that he wouldn't just leave them in the dark.

"Well, what are we supposed to do?" Jeremy almost snaps out of worry.

"We wait. We're supposed to wait." Elena reminds him. It's not like they can go out with her since she's a vampire with super speed and strength and they're just humans that she can feed on.

"I don't know what's wrong with her." Jeremy says.

Hazel bites her lip. She wants to tell him, but she wants to keep him safe too, "She'll be fine. It'll all be fine."

The doorbell then rings and Elena goes to answer it, thinking it's Stefan or Matt with an update about Vicki, but when she sees it's Damon on the other side, she tries to shut the door on him but he pushes back.

Damon fully opens the door and Hazel and Jeremy walk over towards Elena. The older twin freezes at the sight of Damon, "Jeremy, go upstairs." She tells him, and Jeremy looks at her strangely before following her orders, knowing that she wasn't the type to order him around unless it was necessary.

"You're afraid of me." Damon realises before smirking, "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess: Stefan finally fessed up."

"Stay away from us." Elena orders.

"Hey, there's no need to be rude. I'm just looking for Stefan. May I come in?" Damon asks before perking up with a smirk, "Oh, wait. Of course I can. I've been invited." He says as he enters the house, closing the door behind him and the twins back away from him, "We can cut to the chase if you want. I'm not gonna kill you right now. That wouldn't serve my greater agenda. So... where's Stefan?"

"He's out looking for Vicki." Hazel tells him, crossing her arms pointedly as if to tell him that she knows what he did to her.

"Don't look at me with those judgey little eyes. Girl's gonna thank me for what I did to her." Damon replies as he walks closer to them.

"Did you thank Katherine?" Elena questions.

Damon also seems shocked to hear that response and he walks away, "Mmm. Got the whole life story, huh?"

"We got enough." Elena says.

"Oh, I doubt that." Damon replies before walking back to the front door, "Tell my brother I'm looking for him." He says walking out the door before peeking his head back in, "Oh, tip for later, be careful who you invite in the house."

Now, Hazel isn't too surprised that Vicki completed her transition. She's never been great at impulse control, and from what Stefan had explained; everything is heightened when you're in that state, so Vicki didn't really stand a chance against it. There wasn't really much of a choice either since the other option was death, and Hazel didn't want her to die. Stefan had promised he would teach her the way, and work with her but it would take some time. According to him since she's a very volatile and impulsive personality and she's a drug user—all which is now going to play a part in how she responds to her transition.

Hazel is worried about her because she isn't sure what she's supposed to do now; with this, she's lying to everyone she cares about, and everyone knows that Hazel isn't a good liar.

"Coffee is our friend." Stefan explains to Vicki as the four of them sit at their dining table in the Salvatore Boarding House, "It's the caffeine. It circulate through our veins, and it warms our body so we're not so cold to the touch."

"Well, what if I wanna drink human blood?" She asks.

Stefan sighs because Damon was the one that got into her head about human blood being better—and it is, but, it won't be good for Vicki and her lack of control issues, "You're gonna have to learn to live with that urge and fight it on a daily basis, one day at time."

Vicki closes her eyes and lets out a scoff, "Oh, God! Don't start with that whole Twelve Steps thing. School counselor has been down that road, and it doesn't work for me."

"It can work." Stefan insists, "It's your choice, Vicki."

"So, you've never tasted human blood?" Vicki asks.

Stefan feels all eyes on him in that moment. Hazel is aware that he would've had to have tasted human blood at some point in his lifetime—I mean, he would've had to drink it to complete his transition, but, she's interested to know if he relished in it, "Not in a long time." He answers.

"How long?" Vicki presses.

"Years and years." He deflects, "I'm not proud of my past behavior." He says and Hazel is interested to know what he means by that.

Vicki then groans as she rubs circles into her temples, "Does this sketchy feeling ever go away? It's like I have a massive hangover." She complains, "This daylight thing is a bitch. I need more blood." She stands to her feet, "Where's your bathroom? I have to pee. Why do I have to pee? I thought I was dead."

Stefan points in the direction of the bathroom and Vicki then leaves the room. Hazel raises her eyebrows, "Wow." That was interesting to watch. It was like a roller coaster of emotions happening in front of her.

"I'm going to, uh... I'm gonna get her some more." Stefan tells the twins, "I'll be quick." He says as he gets up and leaves the room.

Elena turns to Hazel, "How are you going with all of this?" She asks.

"I'm worried." She tells her twin, "I'm worried about Jeremy. I'm worried about Matt—and I'm worried about Vicki. This whole thing is just such a mess." She says with a sigh. If Vicki could barely stay away from drugs, she can't see her handling staying away from human blood very long; and that worries her for Jeremy's safety.

Vicki then walks back into the room and takes a seat, "False alarm. My body's feeling really funky. It's a good funk, but, it's weird." She says as she grabs onto her phone and starts dialling.

Elena crosses her arms, "Who are you calling?"

"Jeremy." Vicki says casually.

"Vicki, you can't see Jeremy anymore." Elena decides.

"Elena—"

"Oh, come on, don't you start. I'm gonna see whoever I wanna see." Vicki replies, cutting Hazel off to respond to Elena's demand.

Hazel is all for keeping her baby brother safe, but she knows it isn't a good idea to provoke a volatile vampire right now about this. Elena doesn't understand that and only continues, "Even though you could hurt him?" She asks with a raised eyebrow.

"I would never hurt Jeremy." Vicki tells them.

Hazel can see that she's being sincere, and with Stefan's help, that just might be true. Elena walks towards her, "I know you think that, but we can't take that risk." She says, "You're gonna have to let Jeremy go now."

"Oh, really?" Vicki snaps as she puts her phone down on the table and walks towards Elena, "And how long have you been preparing the 'you're not good enough' speech? I'm assuming it predates the whole vampire thing."

"Elena, let it go." Hazel begs.

"All I am saying is Jeremy is not getting involved in any of this." Elena says, "I mean it, Vicki."

"Or what?" Vicki asks and the two eye each other off before Vicki grabs Elena by the throat and pushes her against the wall.

Hazel jumps, "Oh, my God! Vicki, let her go!" She shouts as she goes towards her without thinking to get Elena away from her.

"Let's get one thing straight, you perky little bitch. You had my brother whipped for fifteen years—fifteen years, and then you dumped him. When I look at you that is all I see, just so you know." Vicki snarled, pushing Elena up further against the wall while she held back Hazel, "And I'm gonna see Jeremy whenever I wanna see Jeremy, because I have some fun new toys to play with, and I won't think twice about ripping your little head off. You got it?"

Vicki lets them go and Elena grabs onto her throat as she coughs. Hazel is by her side to check if she's okay while Vicki walks off casually.

Stefan then walks into the room, "What happened?"

"She threatened me." Elena tells him, still shaken up from the whole ordeal.

"You provoked her." Hazel reminds her and Elena sends her a small glare that she's not on her side, prompting her to shut her mouth instantly.

"She's on edge." Stefan explained, "Imagine every sense in your body operating at super speed. I mean, she's uncomfortable in her own skin. And then when you throw in her other issues..."

"How long before it settles?" Hazel asks.

"Hours? Days? Weeks?" Elena presses.

"There's no rule book." Stefan shakes his head, it all depends from person to person.

"Well, how long did it take before you learned to control it?" Hazel asks hopefully.

"A while." Stefan answers and Hazel deflates slightly, "But, I didn't have anybody helping me. I had to do it on my own." He explains and hope grows back, "The thing is, it's hard to resist certain people especially when you're new, it's difficult to separate your feelings. Love, lust, anger, desire... it can all blur into one urge: hunger."

Hazel's eyes widen, "What does that mean?"

"It means that Jeremy can't see her. Not now." Stefan tells them, "She might not be able to resist him, and she could hurt him."

"Or worse." Elena reminds him with pointed eyes that she could kill him if she felt like it.

"I'm not gonna let anybody get hurt." Stefan reassures them.

Hazel thinks about it before nodding, "Okay..." She agrees, "I trust you."

The twins arrive to the town's halloween party later that night with Jeremy in tow. Elena was already planning on going but she didn't feel comfortable leaving Jeremy alone in the house, and Hazel didn't want to be by herself either so she tagged along wearing a modest version of the costume that Caroline had picked out for her for when she eventually decides to come. As they're walking through the crowd to find their friends, Jeremy scares some kids that approach them and Hazel smacks him lightly as she laughs.

They find Matt first and he smiles and laughs when he sees Elena, walking over to them dressed up as a bloodied up doctor, "You went with last year's costume too, huh?" He asks her, pointing to her matching bloodied nurses outfit.

"Yeah, didn't have time to shop as I didn't think that I was coming till a day ago." Elena replies.

"Me neither." Matt says, seeing that Hazel was dressed as an angel—which was very fitting, and he then looks at Jeremy, who was only in a dark hoodie and jeans, "And you're going as... you?"

Jeremy scoffs and rolls his eyes at him before walking away, "He's not talking to me right now. We got into fight." Elena tells Matt. They got into a fight about Vicki, of course, because Elena told him quite bluntly that he isn't allowed to see Vicki anymore—at least not until she gets 'better'. Hazel isn't sure how to recognise what better looks like with her, especially when Jeremy's happiness is on the line.

"Yeah, I got into it with Vick too, when she got home." Matt tells them and Hazel's intrigued to hear that she went home, but thinks that Stefan approved it, "I'm trying not to smother her tonight, but, part of me didn't wanna let her out of my sight."

Elena's eyes widened in horror, "She's here?"

"Yeah, you can't miss her. She's a vampire." Matt tells her and the colour drains from their faces at how true that statement was.

Elena begins to panic as she looks around, remembering what Stefan said about Vicki not being able to resist him, "Where did Jeremy go?"

"Elena, what's the matter?" Matt asks when he sees her panic.

"We... we've gotta find him." Elena simply says as she grabs onto Hazel's wrist and drags her further into the party to find Jeremy.

Meanwhile, Vicki is walking through the halls of her high school and she's feeling the effects of her newfound urges. Stefan grabs her and pulls her into a classroom. She glares at him, "What, you're following me now?"

"You didn't really give me a much of choice." Stefan replies.

Vicki's jaw clenches as she tries to leave but Stefan stops her, "Let me out of here."

"You shouldn't be here, Vicki. Crowds like this, it makes it even harder for you to keep yourself under control." Stefan tells her.

"I'm fine." She insists with a shrug.

"Really?" He challenges, and she replies with an eager nod and hum, "No headache? Your stomach's not screaming at you? You're not feeling lightheaded, or anxious, or cranky like if someone looks at you the wrong way you could just rip their head off?" He asks her and Vicki begins to breathe heavily because that's exactly how she feels, "Do you wanna know what that's called? It's called hunger, and it's only gonna get worse and worse every minute that you pretend like it's not controlling you."

Vicki only looks at him momentarily with defeat before relenting and nodding her head, agreeing to go with him.

Elena and Hazel find them shortly after while they were trying to leave. Hazel lets out a sigh of relief when she sees them, knowing that Jeremy isn't in any danger anymore, "Thank God."

"What's the matter?" Stefan asks.

"We lost track of Jeremy and were worried." Elena explains, narrowing her eyes onto Vicki.

Matt then walks over, "What's going on?" He asks when he sees that Stefan is grabbing onto Vicki's arm.

"Hey, uh, everything's fine." Stefan says.

Vicki then shoves Stefan's hand off of her, "I told you to quit bothering me." She snaps and Hazel's eyes widen because she knows exactly what she's doing and why.

Elena shakes her head pleadingly, "No. Vicki, don't do this."

Vicki ignores her and looks at Matt with puppy dog eyes, knowing he will do anything to protect her, "Matt, he won't leave me alone."

Falling for her tricks, Matt turns to Stefan, "You need to back off, man."

"Matt, it's... it's okay." Hazel tries to calm him down. They're trying to help her but it's hard to explain why, and Vicki knows that and is using it to her advantage.

"No, it's not okay." Matt says to Hazel before stepping towards Stefan, "What the hell is your problem?"

Hazel then turns to see that Vicki had disappeared, "Stefan. She's gone." She tells him and Elena immediately runs to find Jeremy.

Stefan goes to follow after the twins but Matt grabs him and Stefan shoves the football player off of him and pins her against the wall, "I'm trying to help her."

Hazel and Elena run into the party looking for their brother, and Hazel never thought she'd ever see so many vampire costumes and be afraid of them. They're meant to be just costumes—but, she now knows the truth that there's a lot more to it than that.

They run out to the back entrance and sees Vicki attacking Jeremy by the buses and runs over to them, "Vicki, no!" Hazel yells.

Vicki's head snaps over towards them and she shoves Jeremy away, walking towards them with intent to kill and Hazel grabs onto a wooden plank and runs at her with it, hitting her with the plank. She wasn't thinking when she did it, but she was just thinking that she needed to protect Jeremy.

Vicki barely reacts to the wood and grabs her and throws her into a pile of garbage nearby, and she feels herself being cut by glass that had been thrown out. Elena looks at Vicki with fear, wondering what she could use as a weapon next but Stefan grabs Vicki and holds her against the bus.

"Vicki!" Jeremy yells when he sees her being pinned.

Vicki lets out a grunt and shoves Stefan away before disappearing. Stefan looks at Hazel in worry as Elena helps her stand up, and he can smell that she's hurt, "Go. get inside. Go!"

Elena and Hazel grab Jeremy and runs towards the entrance to get inside while Stefan continues searching for Vicki under the buses. As they reach the entrance, Vicki grabs Jeremy and pulls him away, throwing him into a bin of scrapped wood and grabs Hazel since she could already smell that she was bleeding, and bites into her.

Hazel lets out a lout ear piercing scream as she feels Vicki's fangs pierce into the skin of her neck and Elena tries to pull Vicki away from her sister but gets shoved away too. As Vicki pulls away and throws her head back to go for another bite, Stefan stabs Vicki with a wooden stake.

Vicki stumbles back, panting for breath as Stefan yanks the stake out of her. Her skin begins to grey and she falls to the ground as she dies, "Vicki!" Jeremy yells, having watched the whole thing and tries to run to her but Stefan and Elena hold him back while he sobs, "Vicki!"

Elena looks at Stefan, "Get him out of here." She says and Stefan calls Damon for help while he leads Jeremy out of the party.

Elena sits down next to Vicki's body while she goes to hold onto Hazel, who is applying pressure to her neck and begins to cry because she couldn't believe she just watched Stefan kill someone in front of her. She knows it was to protect her because Vicki was trying to kill her, but it doesn't mean she's not upset by it all.

Soon enough, Damon arrives to the scene and sees that Elena was comforting her crying twin beside Vicki's dead body, "You should go. I got this." He tells them.

Elena's eyes narrow into him and she stands up with a disgusted scowl on her face, "You did this. This is your fault."

"You confuse me for someone with remorse." Damon replies and Elena shoves him angrily and tries to hit Damon but he grabs her hand and stops her, "None of this matters to me. None of it."

Elena snatches her hand back, "People die around you. How could it not matter?" She questions him with tears in her eyes, "It matters, and you know it." She says and slaps him across the face.

Damon only turns his face back to her and his jaw clenches. Elena gasps in fear at the dangerous look in his eye and realises what she's done. He wants to kill her because he would do that to anyone that hits him but he just can't, "You need to leave. Your sister's wounds are bleeding, and you need to leave."

The two stare at each other for a moment while longer before Elena grabs Hazel and helps her off the ground and walks back into the school so they can leave.

Hazel was inside comforting Jeremy when they returned home. He was crying in her arms at the loss of Vicki, his heart hurts, "Do you understand what happened tonight?" She asked him. She wants to know what he knows, because if he didn't realise that she was a vampire that was going on a killing spree, then he would be safe.

Jeremy only shakes his head, "No. I don't understand. I mean, I know what I saw, but... I don't understand." He tells her, "I know she was going to kill you, now she's dead—Vicki's dead."

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Jer." Hazel could only tear up as she holds him tighter.

"Make it stop. It hurts." He cries as Hazel soothes him, "Why does everybody have to die on me? Mom and dad are gone, and you nearly left me twice—I can't take it." He asks and Hazel's heart pings with pain at the reminder.

"It's okay, Jeremy. I'm not going anywhere." Hazel assures him as she cries at his pain.

Meanwhile, Elena was outside with Stefan, who was sitting on the porch, listening to Jeremy and Hazel's conversation inside. Elena notices how sad he looks, "Are you okay?" She asks.

Stefan sighs, "I, uh... I wanted to help her." He says and Elena nods, knowing that's all he was trying to do, "But, instead, uh... how are they doing?"

"Jeremy's a mess. Hazel will be okay. It was just really scary for her today, I mean, Vicki attacked them both tonight." Elena explains and Stefan nods in understanding. He didn't want to do that in front of her but it was his only option since Vicki was going to kill her otherwise, "I don't want Jeremy going through this again. He's just a kid."

"Elena, what can I do? I... what can I do to help? I'll do anything." Stefan pleads.

Elena thinks about it for a moment before an idea pops into her mind and she looks at him with pleading eyes, "Can you make him forget?"

"Elena—"

"Stefan, please. I don't know how he'll ever get past this. I just want him to forget everything that happened." Elena explains in a pleading tone.

"If I did it, there's no guarantee that it would work... because of who I am—because of how I live. I don't have the ability to do it right." Stefan says. He's strong, but not as strong as Damon since he's the one that feeds on human blood. His animal diet doesn't help his abilities as much.

"I can do it." Damon says suddenly as he approaches the house, "If this is what you want... I'll do it."

The brothers look at her expectantly and she turns to Stefan as she says, "It's what I want." She decides.

Stefan opens his mouth to question if Hazel is on board with this but Damon speaks, "What do you want him to know?"

Elena turns to the older brother, "I want you to tell him that Vicki left town and she's not coming back. That he shouldn't look for her or worry about her. He's gonna miss her, but, he knows it's for the best." She says through tears, "You'll need to take off his vervain. He wears a bracelet as well."

Damon nods and walks inside as Elena sits down next to Stefan to wait. He walks up to Jeremy's room to find Hazel in there, still hugging him. She looks up at him and she frowns, "What are you doing here?" Jeremy looks up as well with confusion as Damon only approaches him, and doesn't answer Hazel. The older Salvatore brother squats down in front of Jeremy, and takes his bracelet off, "What are you doing?" Hazel asks.

Damon still doesn't answer and Jeremy doesn't have the strength to fight back because he's so distraught, "Vicki left town, and she's not coming back." He begins to compel him and Hazel's eyes widen as she realises what's going on.

"Damon, stop!"

"You won't look for her or worry about her. You're going to miss her, but, you know it's for the best." Damon continues, ignoring Hazel's protests, "You're going to move on with life, and you're going to pick yourself up for yourself, and your family."

Damon stands up once he was done and Hazel looks at him with betrayal, "How could you do that to him?" She asks angrily. While she doesn't want to see him upset, Jeremy deserves to have his mind toyed with, "Those were his emotions—his memories. He deserves to know what happened to her."

Damon only shrugs, "It's what Elena wants." He says before leaving.
