๐ผuinn trots down the stairs, his steps quick and mood light, a quaint and purposeful feeling surrounding his mood.
He's barely slept last night and it wasn't because he was overthinking again. No, it was because he's excited, so excited that he tossed and turned all night long only to catch four hours of sleep and still woke up feeling fresh to the blaring siren that is his alarm.
Nothing can ruin his mood today.
Because Cassie is finally spending time with him again. They've never been on vacation together so this is a first for them.
It's weird to think about how close they used to be and how they've never even spent the night at each other's houses once in their entire life.
But that's Cassie for you. She loves him, he knows that but she's always been careful to maintain a lot of boundaries.
He even suggested a trip for the two of them once during the off-season that coincided with her last summer break before Senior Year at UCLA but apparently, she already had an internship planned.
And since, she's avoided coming back home to Michigan ever since she left for college there's been barely any scope to spend a lot of time with her.
Well, that changes now.
He enters the living room space and his eyebrows immediately shoot up as the two people bickering in the open plan kitchen straighten up to startle at his presence.
That's interesting. Huh.
"Morning", he stuffs his hands into the pockets of his shorts and Madeleine clears her throat.
"Good morning".
"What are you doing up so early?", Quinn directs the question to Trevor who's comfortably slouching on one of the bar stools.
He shrugs, "You know, since you're up we should probably talk about this with you too".
"God, Trevor", Madeleine groans but he ignores her.
"I know you saw Jack going into June's room last night".
Quinn's eyebrows rise higher at that.
He's seen his brother do some very questionable things throughout his entire life span but last night was just unexpected, even for Jack.
Not that Quinn didn't already suspect there was something going on between Jack and June but . . . . he really didn't think it could ever be something that wasn't an actual relationship.
He just thought they were finally circling around the fact that they've had feelings for each other for a while โ it's way too obvious, have you seen the way Jack talks to June? โ but turns out, it's not circling around at all, no they're already way past that.
And this wasn't the first time he's seen them together this summer in a situation that looked . . . . not at all like something friends find themselves in.
But he has a feeling it's still really, really complicated.
He tilts his head, "How'd you know?".
Trevor grins at the confirmation.
"Heard your door close last night only a minute or so after Jack's. So I figured. I was really only assuming, this would've been way awkward if you hadn't actually seen him".
Oh, so Trevor decided to make a stupid guess and out his best friend to his older brother. No surprise there.
"Your point?", Quinn asks the same moment Madeleine interrupts, "Is that all you do all night? Hear people's doors shut?".
Trevor throws her a smirk and she bristles.
"Not when I have something interesting to do".
Her face remains neutral and Trevor's comment hangs there between them.
Talk about awkward.
Quinn stifles a laugh, "So, what's this about?".
Relieved by the question, Trevor turns back to him.
"Well, as Maddie and I were discussing last nightโ".
"Not discussing. You were yapping".
"โdiscussing", he throws her a sharp glance, "we need to push them in the right direction. Their babies need to arrive soonโ".
"June's in college, you bitch".
"โI'm already the godfather of their first born so you can choose a different kid", he points at Quinn, "and then they can live their happily ever after".
Quinn stands there, utterly stunned.
"Last night you said you'd be the godfather of one of their kids", Madeleine comments drawing Trevor back to her.
Trevor sighs, "Yeah, well. Now I choose the first born because obviously I'm important to their parents getting together".
"I think they're doing just fine on their own", Quinn remarks though he doesn't actually believe it, but Trevor's ideas sound like . . . . too much.
"They're not, Quinn. Trust me. He's in love with her, I can see it. But he shuts down every time we try to talk to him about it. So it's time to start planning".
Quinn shakes his head, backing out of the room because honestly, it's too early for this.
"I'm not getting in between this. And you shouldn't either".
Trevor squints, "Don't you want them together?".
"Only on their own terms".
Trevor sighs dramatically, "It won't happen unless we intervene!".
But Quinn's already turned away, ready to walk away from this conversation and let Cassie's imminent arrival distract him.
