62. healer

I pulled at one of the restraints for what felt like the fourth time, ensuring that there was no way he could break free this time. We had re-secured Lincoln, this time on laying on the ground, with extra restraints.

"We need to stop the bleeding and get the bullet out of his leg." Clarke announced as she examined the wound, "Hold his leg down."

Bellamy, who sat by Lincoln's feet, grabbed onto his leg, making sure Lincoln wouldn't move. I was just about to do the same when Bellamy stopped me, "Just back up." he pleaded.

"Bellamy," I warned, not in the mood to deal with him trying to be over protective, "I'm fine." I muttered.

Octavia was up by Lincoln's head, attempting to give him some water. As she slowly poured it into his mouth, he spit it all out before trying to snap at Octavia's fingers. She let out a small scream as she moved back. The remaining three of us looked to her with sad eyes. Being the stubborn girl she was, Octavia tried to hide her emotions as she stood up, "I'll go get some more."

"I'll come." I announced, shooting Bellamy a look as if to dare him to challenge me. He stood up after us, moving towards Octavia, "O, once the drug is out of his system he'll be okay."

Octavia gave him a sad smile, "You can't protect me from this one big brother."

As Octavia began climbing down the ladder, Bellamy grabbed my arm, "Be safe." he warned, "Please."

I gave him a small smile, "We will, we're just getting some water."

As I turned to the ladder, I saw Bellamy kneel back down beside Clarke, letting out a small sigh as he grabbed back onto Lincoln's leg.

As I reached the lower level, Octavia was waiting for me. She looked exhausted, defeated.

"Hey." I whispered, giving her a sad smile as the two of us fell into step, making our way out into the cool night.

Octavia didn't look at me as she spoke, I could tell it was because she was about to cry, "I'm okay."

"No, you're not." I replied, grabbing her arm, causing her to stop, "You're not okay, and that's fine, it's expected."

She wasn't looking at me, but behind me. It seemed like something else had caught her attention, "Can you go get the water?" she muttered, shoving the canteen into my hand.

I took it in surprise as I spun around to try to find out what she was looking back. When I didn't see anything I spun back around, "What's going on? What are you-"

Octavia cut me off as she spun me towards the stream, "I'm fine, I just need a minute. I'll meet you back here in a few minutes."

I gave her a quizzical look as I slowly began towards the stream, "If you run off, Bellamy will kill me, Tavia, kill me!"

She cracked a small smile as she waved me off, "I'm not going anywhere, promise."

I shook my head with a small laugh as I walked deeper into the forest in search of water. I was slightly unnerved, I knew Grounders could be out here, but I wasn't going far...I would be fine. Well, that's what I told myself to calm my nerves.

As I found the stream, I instantly dropped to my knees, shoving the canteen into the frigid water. As it filled up, I looked around anxiously, afraid a Grounder was about to jump out of the trees. Luckily, the canteen filled and I began making my way back to the Drop Ship with no run-ins.

"Okay, got the water! Now, let's get back before Bellamy has a conniption and-" I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of Octavia standing with a man, but not just any man, a Grounder.

"Octavia, what the hell!" I shrieked, trying to find something to defend myself with.

My best friend tried to calm me down, "Avs, he's a friend of Lincoln's, he's going to help."

I stared back at the man, gritting my teeth together. Crossing my arms over my chest, I looked back at her, "You trust him."

She nodded, "I do. He's our only hope right now."

I bit my lip before letting out a sigh, "Okay, well we better get back in there."

I walked in first, turning my head every few seconds to watch the Grounder and Octavia. Each time I turned around Octavia gave me a pointed look. As I climbed up the ladder, I prepared myself for the response we were about to get from Bellamy- I knew it wouldn't be good.

And, like most my gut feelings, this one was right. As the Grounder appeared at the top of the ladder, Bellamy's eyes grew wild. He wasted no time in rushing for his gun, pointing at the Grounder before he could take another step.

Octavia stepped in front of the man, "He's Lincoln's friend! And their healer."

At that moment, Lincoln began convulsing again, a white foam started leaking from his mouth. "He's seizing again!" Clarke announced, urgency in her voice.

Bellamy looked down at Lincoln before glancing back to the Grounder, giving him a slight nod of permission.

The Grounder approached Lincoln, dropping to his knees and pulling out an array of vials, similar to the ones we had used to save Finn's life after he had been poisoned.

As the Grounder sifted through the vials, Bellamy leaned into me, "Where did he come from?" he whispered, his eyes, and gun, still trained on the potential enemy.

I turned my head slightly, "I don't know. I came back from getting water and he was with her."

Bellamy nodded as he looked back at Lincoln who was still seizing vigorously. The Grounder had finally found the vial he was looking for and was currently hovering it over Lincoln's mouth.

"What is that?" Clarke inquired curiously.

The Grounder ignored her as he muttered a phrase that I couldn't understand, "Yu gonplei ste odon."

We were all watching as a drop of whatever was in the vial clung onto the bottle, the liquid about to drop into Lincoln's mouth. Just as it began to fall, Clarke stuck her hand out, "Wait!" she yelled, gears clearly turning in her head.

The Grounder instantly reached back, grabbing a knife out of his belt. Bellamy readjusted his gun, "Get back, right now!" he snapped, causing the Grounder to freeze.

Clarke repeated the sentence to herself before looking up at us,"Yu gonplei ste odon. It's what they say before death! He's not trying to save him...he's trying to kill him." she explained.

I looked with wide eyes from Octavia and then back to the Grounder, "I thought you said they were friends?"

Octavia glared at the Grounder, "They are," she said through clenched teeth, "Nyko is it true?"

The Grounder-Nyko- nodded slightly, "Yes. Death is the only way."

"Hold on," Clarke started, "There could be a way to bring him back."

"None that I've ever seen." Nyko argued.

Suddenly, another voice cut into the air, "We have to go!" My brother announced, his head popping up from the ladder, "The camp's leaving, we have to-"

Nyko shot up faster than any of us had a chance to react, "You!" he shouted, lunging towards Finn, yelling another word in their language before pinning him against the wall.

"Get off him!" Bellamy yelled, pointing his gun at Nyko's head.

"Stop!" I screamed, watching as my brother struggled for air against Nyko's hold on his neck.

"You slaughtered my people. Elders, children, innocents!" Nyko growled.

I began looking for something to get him off of my brother with. He was huge, much larger than any of us, even Bellamy. There was no way I could simply over power him. As I continued searching frantically, I could hear Octavia begin yelling, " Nyko, stop, you're killing him!"

"Blood must have blood!"

Bellamy was still standing with his gun pointed at Nyko, "Get out of the way!" he snapped at Octavia.

She spun around, "Bellamy, you are not shooting him! No!"

"Move now!"

My head was spinning as they continued screaming at each other. The adrenaline was coursing through my veins as I finally found what I need. I quickly scooped it up from the ground, letting out a shaky sigh as I pressed the button that sent electricity shooting through the prod.

As I turned back to Finn, he looked almost lifeless. I knew I had to do this now. With one last vote of confidence I shoved the prod against Nyko's back. He let out a scream as the shocks came in contact with his body. He instantly fell to the ground, letting go of Finn.

Everyone fell silent as they stared at me in awe. I ignored them as I dropped to my knees in front of my brother. At the same time, Octavia was alerting everyone to the fact that Lincoln wasn't breathing.

I tuned whatever was going on with Lincoln out for a moment. Right now, it was about my brother, at least for me it was.

"You're okay." I promised as I helped him sit up.

He nodded as he struggled to catch his breath, "I am, I'm okay."

I pulled him into a tight hug before the two of us turned back to the scene behind us where Clarke had just resuscitated Lincoln, much to Nyko's surprise. When Clarke had questioned him on whether or not he had ever brought a Reaper back after they died, he told her it had never been done by them.

Clarke got a smile on her face, the one she got when she had some wild idea.

"What are you thinking?" I asked, my arm still wrapped around Finn.

Clarke looked over at me, "I'm thinking that I might know how to stop the war."
