I pushed myself up even further, ignoring the pain that shot through my leg, "What do you mean he's killed people? Bellamy, what are you talking about?"
Bellamy, who was now standing, began pacing the room, "We thought the Grounders had you guys and we found this Grounder, took him to a bunker Clarke and Finn found a while back-"
"The art supply store." I whispered, vaguely remembering hearing Clarke and my brother speak about it.
Bellamy paused as he studied my worried face before continuing, "We asked him questions, and he didn't tell us anything-"
"Because they didn't have us!" I cut in, throwing my arms up.
He signed, "We know that now."
I shook my head, running my hands over my face, "Tell me what happened next?" I murmured through my finger tips.
"We didn't know what to do with him, we were all arguing and Finn just-" Bellamy stopped talking, just as he stopped pacing. His back was to me, but I could see that he was breathing heavily.
My eyes were stinging as I dropped my hands back to my sides, letting out a deep breath, "What did he do, Bellamy. Just tell me what my brother did."
Bellamy spun around, finally looking me in the eyes, "He shot him, Avery."
My heart plummeted as I kept my teary eyes on Bellamy. This was my brother, one of the most selfless people in the world, the person who wouldn't even think about picking up a gun let alone actually do it. And now here I was, hearing that that same boy had killed someone.
Bellamy made his way back over to me, sitting back down and slipping his hand into mine, "He truly thought the Grounders had you-we all did."
I nodded as a teary whisper escaped my lips, "I know."
It was less of the fact that he had actually killed someone and more about the fact that he was a different person. Killing people wasn't new for the group of us, hell we had barbecued I don't know how many Grounders, but it was new for Finn.
Bellamy shifted beside me, seemingly noticing the battle I was having inside my brain, "If you want to talk about it-"
I shook my head, causing him to stop, "I think I'm just going to try and rest, Abby told me I need it." I gave him a forced smile as I pulled my hand out of his warm hand. The minute I pulled it back towards my body it felt cold, I missed his touch.
Bellamy's face fell slightly as he straightened up and cleared his throat, "Yeah, okay. I'll get Octavia to come see you later?"
I nodded, shimmying further down the bed so I could lay down, "Thanks." I whispered as he moved towards the door.
I hated the way I was feeling. I was supposed to be happy, happy that I was back in camp, back with my friends. But all I could feel was dread and fear, dread because Finn wasn't here and fear that when he came back he wasn't going to be the same.
I didn't sleep like I told Bellamy I was going to, I couldn't. Instead I stared at the wall for an hour and tried to tune out the noises of the other patients until Octavia came in to see me.
I turned my head slightly as she sat down beside me, giving me a small smile. "Bell told you about Finn?" she questioned.
I nodded, my eyes now back on the wall where they had been for the last hour. "I get why he did it, but it still doesn't make it any less hard."
Octavia hummed in agreement, "We've all done things to keep the people we care about safe, Finn is no different. He thought you are Clarke were in danger and so he did what he thought was necessary."
I turned to fully look at her, studying her face to see if she was just saying that to make me feel better, but it didn't look like she was. "I guess you're right." I agreed. But was she right, did Finn really think that killing that guy would keep me or Clarke safe?
I shook the thoughts from my head as I sat up, "So are they sending a search party out for him?"
Octavia's face twitched, a clear sign she was hiding something, "I thought you said you didn't want them to go?"
"I said I didn't want Bellamy to go."
Octavia nodded as she leaned back slightly, "Abby said she didn't want to put anyone else in danger, she shot down the idea of a search party."
"So they're just going to leave him out there? With Murphy of all people!"
My best friend's face twitched once again, "I didn't say that."
I moved closer to her and grabbed her arm, staring her down, "Octavia what aren't you telling me?"
---
Two minutes later I was limping down the halls in pursuit of Octavia who had run off after telling me her, Clarke and Bellamy were going after Finn. She had practically run out of my room after delivering the news, knowing I would be upset.
I was well aware that if Abby caught me I would be right back in bed, so I had to make sure that wouldn't happen. I was, for obvious reasons, much slower than Octavia, but I somehow managed to catch up to her enough to see which way she exited.
I followed after her, pushing the doors open and stepping outside. The sun was warm against my cool skin as I caught sight of my friends standing hidden behind some large metal thing. I paused before making my way over to where the group of them were standing, Raven included, who I hadn't seen since being back.
"Avery!" She squealed as she caught a glimpse of me. The remaining 3 pairs of eyes darted towards me as Raven wrapped her arms around me. The first thing I noticed was the brace on her leg and how slow she moved, but I decided I wouldn't bring it up until she did.
"Hey." I laughed as I wrapped my arms back around her.
"Avery, what the hell are you doing?" Bellamy asked once Raven and I had pulled apart. A gun was slung over his shoulder, same with Clarke.
I crossed my arms over my chest, "I could ask you the same thing."
Bellamy turned to Octavia with a displeased look, "I thought I told you not to tell her?"
The younger Blake sibling put her her hands up in defense, "She can be intimidating when she wants to be."
I gave Bellamy a smug smile, "I told you I didn't want you going out there, you guys could get hurt or killed! What am I supposed to do if I lose everyone I care about?"
"I'll still be here." Raven piped in.
"Okay everyone I care about minus Raven." I corrected, my eyes darting between the three of them.
Bellamy sighed, "If we don't do this, Finn might not come back, and I know you want to see him more than ever right now."
I stared him down, my arms still crossed firmly over my chest. "You're right, Bellamy. That is why I am here to offer my help."
Bellamy face fell as he shook his head, "Don't even think about saying that you're coming with us. You're hurt and you would only slow us down."
I glared at him, "No dumb dumb, I'm not coming with you."
"Well then how are you supposed to help?"
I gave him a mischievous smile, "You could use a distraction, something to keep the guards off your asses, I am that distraction." I explained, swiping my hands out in front of me as if to offer myself up.
The four of them stared at me skeptically which prompted me to continue, "If I go to the middle of camp and collapse, you can best believe a crowd will form. And when Abby catches wind that I'm out of bed, it'll distract her from whatever else is going on."
They all shared a look before grins spread onto their faces, "That's perfect." Clarke confirmed.
I smiled back at them before looking over my shoulder to where a couple of guards were standing, "Okay, I'm going now so go fast. Oh," I said as I spun back around, pulling them all into quick hugs, "Be safe and bring him home."
I didn't waste anytime slowly making my way back towards the centre of camp. I tried to get as far away from where my friends were before staging my little show.
The minute I knew that they would be ready to go, so was I. I dropped down to the ground, letting out a blood curdling scream. It brought attention, that's for sure. People milling about, and guards alike came rushing towards me to see what the matter was.
"Abby Griffin, someone get Abby!" one of the guards yelled as he knelt down beside me. As the chaos ensued I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy as I knew my friends were now on the way to find my brother.
