As a result, she/they aren't taken seriously by most of her/their peers. In fact, most of her/their peers view her/them as a joke. As such, she/they are known as the school's "class clown" — a person who plays elaborate pranks on unsuspecting people [mostly, she/they performs her/their pranks on teachers most kids at her/their grade level despise and on occasion, the principal of Roosevelt High].

As such, one could say Zen is also very observant [like her/their father, Zane Carson] at knowing her own surroundings along with the people around her. In addition, Zen isn't one to be emotionally vulnerable, often masking how she/they actually feels.

With a famous NHL hockey player and a top-tier detective as her/their parents, Zen Carson-Jones definitely has a lot to live up to as the eldest of the two's joint namesake.

Because of this, people often assumed Zen would be just like her/their father, Zane Carson, but when she/they turned out to be like her/their other father, Casey Jones, their expectations of her/them sunk rather quickly.

With a love of hockey and essentially being a mini version of Casey Jones, Zen dreamt of a life where the young demi-girl would out-shine her/their father and Uncle Cassidy, wanting to be the best. Yet as she/they display more effort in her/their love of the sport, she/they haven't been displaying effort in her/their studies.

Though Zen tries to be attentive, she/they are usually seem daydreaming her/their days away, rather bored by the standard, endless routine. So when Zen becomes at-risk for losing her/their spot as her/their grades have been increasing lower than expected, Zen gets a tutor in the form of her/their best childhood friend, Kriana O'Neil-Sparks, to help boost her/their grades and keep her/their place on Roosevelt's hockey team.

In the process of being tutored by her/their best friend, Zen's grades start to improve to the point where the young demi-girl starts making A-B honor roll. Now on good grace with her/their hockey coach and good academic standing with her/their teachers, Zen feels as though her/their life has turned around for the better.

But when danger strikes and has its sight on her/their hometown, Zen thinks she/they knows what to expect, given how her/their parents dealt with aliens and other out-of-this-world threats in their lifetime. How bad could things get?

In fact, Zen welcomed the opportunity as she/they was more than ready to prove her/their worth to the world as one of New York's defenders. But when she/they make a careless mistake on the first day, her/their world would tragically turns upside down for the worse. She/They just didn't know how — or who — would be caught in the heat of the crossfires.

As she was conceived through the DNA of their father [Casey Jones] and her egg donor, Bushida Mayumi [with artificial DNA from her other father, Zane Carson], Zen ends up becoming the only biological demigirl to Casey Jones as their younger siblings [Saoirse and Flynn] were strictly adopted from an orphanage as neither of the two fathers had wanted to risk May's health any further.

2. Zen may physically look like a female but Zen goes by she/her/hers and they/them/theirs pronouns as she/they are a cisgender demi-girl. This is why Zen retains her/their feminine features yet choose to embrace having female and nonbinary pronouns. She/They also use a chest binder.
