EVENTUALLY, THE QUARTET HAD MADE IT TO THE SOUTHERN Water Tribe and news of the new arrivals spread fast. Aang had fallen asleep, but ( Y/N ) was anything but. Throughout the night of their arrival, ( Y/N ) had stayed awake the whole night with the itching feeling of the Fire Nation knowing she was there.

She had been woken ( she was already up ) by Katara who took her to be introduced to the tribe. There weren't many people there, mainly elderly women and children.

Plus: Katara and Sokka.

Katara had just pulled Aang out of his tent where Sokka was sitting with his legs crossed while ( Y/N ) was standing up so she wouldn't sit in the snow. A group of Southern Water Tribe villagers stood in a group, all facing Aang, a big confused and intrigued by the sudden appearance of an Airbender.

"Aang, this is the entire village," Katara introduced. "Entire village, Aang," she then turned to ( Y/N ) who was by the tent. "And this is ( Y/N ) β€” a nomad."

Some of the elders pushed some of the kids away while others just stared, a bit conflicted at the sight of an Airbender. All the Airbenders had been extinct... by the Fire Nation, where ( Y/N )'s from.

"Yeah!" ( Y/N ) blurted out, then shrinking back down into the snow. "A nomad...."

Aang raised an eyebrow at the stares he got from the villagers. "Uh... why are they all looking at me like that? Did Appa sneeze on me?"

"Well, no one has seen an Airbender in a hundred years," gran gran said. "We thought they were extinct until my granddaughter and grandson along with their new friend β€”"

"Now I wouldn't call her a friend," Sokka interrupted. "More so an acquaintance whom we bumped intoβ€”"

( Y/N ) nudged his arm to let the elderly woman continue her story. Gran gran coughed and went on. "Until my grandkids and their friend found you."

"Extinct?"

"Aang and ( Y/N ), this is my grandmother," Katara introduced.

"Call me Gran Gran."

( Y/N ) and Sokka stood up from their spots in the snow. Sokka took hold of Aang's glider to inspect. "What is this, a weapon? You can't stab anything with this."

"It's not for stabbing," Aang took his glider back. "It's for Airbender."

"Magic!" A kid exclaimed as aang opened his glider. "Do it again!"

"It's not magic," Aang chuckled. "It's Airbending. It lets me control the air currents around my glider and fly."

"You know, last time I checked, humans can't fly," Sokka denied.

"Check again!"

Aang placed the glider behind him and flew up in the air. The villagers below looked up in wonder, gasping at the flying Airbender. He flew all over the village before flying into a tower made of snow. He had nearly gotten stuck, but thankfully pulled himself out at the cost of his tower.

Sokka gasped. "Oh! My watchtower!"

( Y/N ) patted his shoulder. "I'm sure your precious watchtower is fine, Sokka."

The kids, along with Katara ran over to find Aang hidden in a pile of snow. Sokka and ( Y/N ) trailed behind them, but Sokka was only worried about his watchtower. When he got over to inspect the tower, a pile of snow fell all over Sokka, which no one seemed to notice.

"Great," Sokka spoke up. "You're an Airbender, Katara's a waterbender. Together you can just waste time all day long," Sokka grumbled as he stood up. "At least nomad-girl isn't here throwing me in snow!"

( Y/N ) looked down. "Yeah..."

Aang smiled up at Katara. "You're a waterbender!"

"Well, sort of," Katara shrugged. "Not yet."

"All right," Gran gran stepped in. "No more playing around. Come on, katara you have chores. ( Y/N ), Sokka can show you around."

Sokka stopped in his tracks, slowly turning around, knitting his eyebrows. "I'm sorry... what?"

"She saidβ€”"

"I know what she said!" Sokka snapped.

TO SAY SOKKA WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT SHOWING ( Y/N ) around was an understatement, but he somehow found a way to get through it. The first place he showed her was all the huts... there were a lot. Well, to be fair there wasn't much to show. He would've started with the watchtower, but Aang had already taken care of that for him. So all he really had was training the little kids to be 'warriors'.

If ( Y/N ) was being honest, she was finding the young ones little 'training session' quite adorable. None of them seemed to care or understand what was going on β€” just looking up at Sokka with their bright eyes. She had to keep herself from laughing for most of it.

"Now, men," Sokka paced around in the snow. "It's important that you show no fear when you face a firebender," ( Y/N ) had to look away at that part. "In the water tribe, we fight till the last man's standing. For without courage, how can we call ourselves men?"

None of the children responded until one boy raised his hand. "I gotta pee!"

( Y/N ) chuckled with a light smile. "Oh, yes. These are the courageous men of the Water Tribe I've heard so much about."

"You stay out of this," Sokka snapped, pointing his staff at her before turning back to face down at the kids. "Listen! Until your fathers return from the war, they're counting on you to be the men of this tribe. And that means, no potty breaks."

"But I really got go."

Sokka sighed, lowering his shoulders. "Okay, who else has to go?"

About all of the kids raised their hands and Sokka face palmed. ( Y/N ) got a good chuckle before Katara walked over. "Have you two seen Aang? Gran Gran said he disappeared over an hour ago."

Sokka grunted. "Ah! Katara, get him out of there," he ordered. "This lesson is for warriors only."

"You mean those warriors," ( Y/N ) smirked, pointing to the kids sliding off of Appa onto the snow.

Katara started chuckling, watching as Sokka ran over to stop the kids from messing around and grab his spear off of Appa's tail. The two girls trailed behind him.

"Stop! Stop it right now!" Sokka exclaimed, grabbing his spear. "What's wrong with you? We don't have time for fun and games with a war going on!"

Aang raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"

"You're kidding, right?"

Just then, Aang's eyes widen and a huge smile formed on his features. "Penguin!"

Aang went running for the penguin, who was waddling away in the distance. As Aang ran, a trail of dust was leftover behind him. Sokka raised an eyebrow, titling his head. "He's kidding, right?"
