He couldn't believe it, didn't want to.

Aaron was gone and it was his fault. But he should know it wasn't. The one guy who made him feel like he could be himself around him, and ( Y/N ) too. Now he was alone. No Peter, no Aaron, they were both gone.

Once he got back to his dorm, he immediately went to throwing his books to the ground, his lamp, wrecking everything there until the room was nearly a mess. But then, something that fell on the floor caught his eye; the notebook. And the design inside him and Aaron made.

He picked it up, throwing it out the window, only for it to be thrown back at him. When he looked out the window, he saw Peter b climbing inside with ( Y/N ) getting off his back.

From behind him was Gwen and the other Spider-people. "Hey, buddy. You okay?"

"We've all been there," Peter told him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "For me... for me it was my niece and Uncle Ben."

Spider-Noir placed a hand on Miles's shoulder as well. "For me.. for me it was my Uncle Benjamin."

"For me... it was my father," Peni sighed.

( Y/N ) looked up with a frown on her features. "For me it was... well, my uncle. I'm sensing a pattern."

"For me it was my best friend," Gwen added.

"Miles," Peter Porker spoke up. "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody."

Miles sniffled as ( Y/N ) went to place a hand on his shoulder. "It was my fault. You wouldn't understand."

"Miles, we're probably the only ones who do understand," Gwen stated.

Just then, they heard the door knob turn, causing them to all turn around. In order to not be seen, they all flung up to the ceiling and Peter shot ( Y/N ) up with them. The kid who came inside was Miles's roommate Ganke Lee. The boy had his headphones over his hat, blasting loud music through them.

He jumped onto his desk chair, reaching for a Spider-Man comic and a bottled water. Making sure he wouldn't see them, Peter instructed them where to move as the chair switched sides. Once it stopped at the door, Ganke looked up, his eyes widening at the spider-people.

"Hey, there."

"Do animals talk in this dimension?" Peter Porker questioned. "Cause I don't wanna freak him out."

The poor kid fainted back in his chair, the chair falling with him.

Miles was eventually able to get Ganke back in one of the bunk beds and put a blanket over. Also, he promised ( Y/N ) that he'd try and explain everything to Ganke later in the best way he could... that wouldn't freak him out.

Once Miles was sure he was out, he turned to find the other spider-people, including ( Y/N ) ( and she wasn't even a spider person ) heading out the window. "What's going on?"

"See ya later, Miles," ( Y/N ) frowned before jumping out the window, grabbing onto Gwen's hand. "Thanks, Gwen!"

"( Y/N )!" The spider-men exclaimed.

"Sorry," ( Y/N ) whispered.

Peter winced in embarrassment, not knowing ( Y/N ) was doing the same from outside. "Miles, I came to say goodbye."

"We can say goodbye to the collider," Miles said.

"You're not getting it," Peter stated as he stood up. "You're staying here."

"I need to be there, so you can all go home,"

"They are going home, Miles," Peter took a pause. "I'm the only one staying."

Miles turned around. "You're taking my place? If you stay here, you'll die."

"I'm doing what needs to be done!" Peter snapped. "I just wanted you to hear it from me."

"What about Mj?"

Peter sighed. "Not everything works out, kid."

Peter held out his hand. "I need the goober. Please don't make me take it from you."

"That's not fair! You gotta tell them I can do this,"

"It wasn't their decision," Peter replied, placing a hand on his chest.

Miles moved back, holding the key back with him. He looked down, thinking of what his uncle said. He couldn't let this go unchecked, he couldn't. Miles wanted Aaron's last words to mean something, and they would if only Peter gave him the chance to fulfill it.

"I gotta make Kingpin pay! You have to let me make him pay!"

"Miles, you're gonna get yourself killed."

"But I'm ready," Miles stated. "I promise-"

Before anyone could say another word, Peter kicked Miles from under his foot and threw him up to the ceiling. Then, Peter jumped up to the ceiling with him, clutching onto Miles's shirt before he could fall.

"Then demonstrate me right now," Peter demanded. "Or turn invisible on command so you can get past me."

Miles grunted, forming his hands into fist every time, but it never worked. From outside the dorm window, a frown formed on ( Y/N )'s features, seeing her best friend like this. And it wasn't just her, Gwen, Peter Porker, Spider-Noir and Peni all felt the same.

Peter sighed as he let him down. "Look, I know how much you want this, kid."

"Poor little guy," Spider-Noir muttered.

"But you don't have it yet."

Peter shot a web at the chair Ganke fell off of and swung it over to Miles's, tying him up in a rope of webs, tight enough to keep him there. He put the open hand at the end of his chair and grabbed the key, flashing an apologetic frown. "I'm sorry."

"When will I know I'm ready-"

"You won't," Peter told him. "It's a leap of faith. That's all it is, Miles. A leap of faith."

With one last glance, Peter put on his mask and went out the window, shooting a web at the nearest building. Miles watched as everyone swung off without him, ( Y/N ) holding onto Gwen before she was swung back to Peter, even the robot.

A leap of faith.

A few hours passed and Miles was still staring out that window, tied up to the chair. He was taking Peter's words to heart, still believing what his Peter saw in him. No Peter, no Aaron... all because of him. Miles couldn't let them go in vain like this, he just couldn't.

He shook himself away and pushed forward to his desk. Once again, he pressed his fingers against the web silk tightly, hoping some kind of spark would happen. As he jumped back towards the window, there was still nothing.

Just when he thought he was all alone, a knock on the door broke the silence. "Miles? Miles, it's your dad." And with this, Miles immediately turned around.

"Please open the door," Jefferson sighed. "Miles, I can see you shadow."

Miles's eyes widened, looking down at his feet in the tied up chair. He just wished he could just break out of the webs and say something, but Peter did a pretty good job.

"Yeah, I get it. Still ignoring me. Look, can we talk for a minute?" Jefferson added. "Something... something happened... sometimes people drift apart, Miles."

Jefferson took a long pause and Miles moved forward. He could tell Jefferson was talking about him and Aaron, hearing it as his voice cracked. "And I don't want that to happen to us, okay?"

"Look, I know I don't always do what you need me to do or say what you need me to say, but I..." Jefferson continued. "But I see this spark in you. It's amazing! It's why I push you, but that's yours. Whatever you choose to do with it, you'll be great."

Jefferson leaned against the door. "Look, call me when you can, okay? I love you. You don't have to say it back."

As he felt Jefferson left, something happened to Miles. There was this new spark that wasn't there before, the one he needed. He lifted his head up from the ground, eyes glowing electric blue. The electricity went down through his body and all the way to his hands where they were ready to break free from the webs.

With one spark, the chair fell back and the webs were thrown everywhere. Miles stood up from the floor, his hands filled with electricity.

He was ready.
