CH03: SPIDER SOCIETY !

rest of the book :D

— FOLLOWING Hobie you desperately tried to ignore what was said to you earlier. you just couldn't get what he said out of your mind. you didn't push him in the collider on purpose, you didn't even know who the guy was!

"Here, take this." Hobie says and grabs your hand. looking down you see it was another bracelet— now that you look at it, it does look weird.

After taking it you put on your mask and followed the others. all you felt was distraction, was spot right? was all this your fault? no, no, come on now. don't think like that.

Many buildings were collapsing. you looked over at two bystanders and swooped them up in your arms, they were two children.

One of them pointed at you, "hey! you're spider mimic! I love you so much!" they wrap their arms around you.

Oh, so they knew about you? aw that's nice. you hugged them back, grateful for they're kind words.

"What's you're name?" You ask as you kneel down to the child's level, they send you a smile. "I'm Dani!" Dani replies.

This kid was adorable. Dani holds out his notebook, "I know it's not much but can I have you're autograph?"

And of course you being the wonderful person you are, you give him your autograph. Hobie was currently calling your name but it was on deaf ears.

"[name], let's go!" Hobie shouts and you give him a side glance before sighing, "nyeh nyeh 'LeTs gO'." you muttered under your breath.

That was immature. anyways, getting back to serious manners— focus on the task.

"Alright bye kiddo." you say before webbing over to the others. Dani waves goodbye to you as you make your way over to Hobie.

Hobie glanced at you with a upset look, even after he told you not to follow him you still did. as much as he wants to tell you the truth he just can't. you are a real threat to the multiverse and literally all dimensions.

The reason why you don't glitch into certain dimensions is because Hobie is there with you and you always have that bracelet on. that was the only thing saving you. but what's about to come won't save you.

This time you might have to be on your own. Hobie just wants the best for you, but you just can't seem to listen.

"Is everybody okay?" you ask as you check on everyone, before they could respond your spidey sense went off.

Weird..nothing was there. Hobie makes his way over to you and places a hand on your shoulder— there was probably a smile behind that mask.

"You did good." Hobie says and you roughly shrug his hand off your shoulder, suddenly upset.

There's something he's not telling you— and you wanna know why. but hey, it's not the time to get all aggressive.

You stepped forward and looked up into the sky, seeing a plane or something like that? rather more a spider thingy at that or whatever it's called.

You did not know about all this spider stuff but it definitely interested you. since you've been wanting to know more about yourself anyways.

Right. spot made a large hole into pavitr's dimension. looking down you saw nothing but a dark abyss. Hobie stood next to you and glanced at you with slight worry, "Love..you aren't supposed to be here we gotta get you back home." he says.

"No." You suddenly say. this catches Hobie by surprise and he sighed while pinching the bridge of his nose, obviously tired of all the cold shoulder and aggressiveness towards him.

Jessica stepped down with all the other spider people right behind her, you heard her say something to them and you smiled slightly, sending her a wave.

"Hey, Jessica! this is miles, miles morales. the two of you actually met before." You say while miles extends his hand to Jessica to shake, she just walks past the two of you.

Ouch.

Hobie wraps his arms around my shoulders while pointing at me, "Ain't that funny? sh..she just walked past! trust me she isn't mad. I'm pretty sure she remembers you." he tries and reassure you.

To be honest it was a little reassuring but not much. these spider people aren't fond of you at all either— in fact they don't even want you around. some of them do but they all just think you're still a kid and are too clumsy.

But you can make that decision for yourself, you don't need anyone to tell you that. it wouldn't be bad to try and be acquaintances with everyone. right?

Jessica threw a mysterious bracelet your way which you caught easily and placed on your wrist, "Yay! you aren't mad at me?" You asked her.

Jessica hummed in reply, "that's to be decided. for now, let's go and no more talking please." sometimes she wondered why she tolerated you.

You head through the portal with the others, taking off your mask and looking down at the bracelet Hobie had given you once more.

Miles glances at Hobie when he takes his mask off, "How are you even cooler under your mask?" Miles asks Hobie.

"I've always been cool." Hobie replied and a little smile tugs at the corner of your lips, obviously happy at the little interaction they had.

NUEVA YORK
Earth - 928

"[Name], over here." Hobie says and gestures towards the entrance of the elevator. You quickly followed behind him and walked next to him, the both of your shoulders brushing.

"Yo, this place is wild!" Miles says and you nod in agreement. "Really." You added while looking around, Hobie smiles at this.

You weren't fully able to access this place but now that you are— it's crazy how many spider people there are.

"This is amazing." a small gasp escapes your lips, Hobie tilts his head and raises an eyebrow. maybe he would have to show you around someday— but right now isn't the time.

"Welcome to the spider society." Hobie says. you just look at everyone in amazement. this is where you belonged.

but all that 'happiness' was about to change real quick.

Then you felt a tap on your shoulder, It was Hobie. "Aye, let's go." he says while grabbing your hand, the both of you walked past Gwen and Miles.

But before you could continue to follow him both you and miles glitched, yours was a little worse than miles.

Hobie just gave you the bracelet, what was the matter? and how was that possible?

"It's getting worse." Hobie says while crouching over to you. what did he mean 'getting worse'?

You couldn't even ask what he meant cause you started glitching again, Gwen eyebrows furrowed with worry towards you and miles.

"Here." Jessica says and hands you another weird bracelet, and then she throws one to miles.

You put it on your wrist and instantly let out a sigh of relief. Hobie hauls you up and glanced at you.

"Come on." He says while guiding you further down.

As the both of you continued walking you felt yourself getting further and further away from Hobie's grasp. he was trying his best to catch up with you.

Something touched your shoulder and you saw it was a tiny bird which had flew away from someone's pocket, it lands on you and— chirps?

It rubs its little cheek against yours which makes you let out a soft chuckle, "Sorry bout that!" someone shouted and yanked the bird back towards them. the bird let out a little squeak.

"ACTUALLY KEEP IT." The person says and throws the bird back towards you, you easily catch it.

The bird chirps and it's eyes glow a yellow hue. it rubs its little head against your cheek once more which makes you smile again.

"Do you have a name?" You whispered in question, it just shakes its head in reply. "Well I'm gonna name you Mao."

Mao chirps in reply and lands on your shoulder while hiding itself in your hair. This makes you smile and you felt a new sense of happiness.

"Okay, so how long have you two been working together?" You asks after miles just got finished asking then same question.

"For a long time." Gwen answers while rambling off to Hobie again, you roll your eyes.

"Well that's cool." Miles says and you nodded in agreement, "so cool." you added and accidentally bumped into someone.

The person hums in surprise and turns to you with raised eyebrows, he had long dreadlocks with a small scar across his eye and the locks were hiding half of his face. he was working next to a girl.

Taking a good look at him he had on some black cargo pants with a black spiked belt and some black boots. he also had a knife sticking out of his boot too.

Woah...

"Sorry for bumping into you." You quickly apologize. both your spider senses went off and the both of you just stared at each other.

"I- I'm spider-man/woman." You blurt out and the guy glanced off to the side while squinting his eyes, a chuckle escaping him.

"That's amazing." The guy said in reply while crossing his arms, you noticed the fingerless gloves he had on too. his brown eyes glanced down at you, he tilts his head.

The guy then webs off to one of the computers, "wait, wait! what's your name? and what are you?" you ask.

"My name is Xo'zin. and I know how to control technology and get into systems." Xo'zin says while fixing one of the wires sticking out the computer.

He then makes his way beside you and where Miles, Gwen, and Hobie were.

"And this...this is where we send people back home." Xo'zin speaks calmly, "It's a bit scary but it's what has to be done."

"We should go." Gwen says and walks away, Hobie following behind her.

You quickly turn to Xo'zin, "See you around?" you asked.

Xo'zin taps his chin before closing his eyes and nodding, "that's if you last being around here." a giggle escapes past his lips.

"Uh..yeah." You say while laughing, Hobie turns to you, "Let's go, [name]!" he calls out.

"One last thing, are you able to-" not being able to finish a hoard of webs wrapped around you, dragging you back towards Hobie who was continuing to walk.

"Good luck, friend." Xo'zin says before warping back to the computer section.

This was gonna be interesting.
